Demitri’s Taverna serves delicious Greek and Mediterranean fare for lunch and dinner. Our authentic Greek cuisine is prepared using family recipes. We make everything to order and use the freshest ingredients available.

We serve favorites such as spanakopita, gyros, flamed saganaki, souvlaki, dolmas, mousaka, pastitso, Greek salad, and avgolemono and fasolatha soup. We also serve delicious burgers and sandwiches, including a Mediterranean burger, a tri-​tip sandwich, and a chicken Florentine sandwich. Our authentic baklava is the perfect way to finish any meal, so don’t plan on skipping dessert! Our full bar is stocked with wines from all over the world, beer (include Mythos), and a wide variety of liquors including ouzo. Our beautiful patio is the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing drink or meal.

We absolutely love Demitris! Best Greek food I’ve ever had! We love the atmosphere and they service! Wonderful outdoor seating on a beautiful day! We loved our waitress, this is the first time we have had her (I believe her name is Madison) and she was on top of it! Super polite and just a great person! My favorite dish is the chicken Slovakia. Best dessert is the Greek yogurt! Perfect for sharing!!! Overall great experience (as usual) and you can’t beat the views from the patio seats!!!

Demitri’s is in the heart of Livermore and is a great spot to relax and enjoy a good meal. I have been there often and never left hungry or disappointed. Staff is friendly and engaged in their occupation. I recommend a visit for sure.

I was meeting some friends at Livermore and they picked this Greek food place. I had a pretty high expectation before I came as I knew my friends used to come here quite often. The first look at this restaurant was quite good: very delicate decoration and comfortable noise level. However after we seated, the waiter constantly asked us whether we were ready to order on a literally 2-​min frequency. That was quite annoying. And the food was not amazing at all, at least for my order. I had the special Gyros plate. While the meat is 3 out of 5, both the bread and pasta salad were just average at best.

I can’t say enough great things about this place! I LOVE eating here. You have to have the feta and olives. So yummy! We have tried so many things on the menu and never didn’t like something. Our favorite is the Gyro bites! So good. If you haven’t eaten here… your missing out. Eat outside and the atmosphere is amazing. The corner fountains and the grass area are so picturesque. Demitri is so nice and the food is GREAT!

Food was delicious and the menu had a lot to offer. I had a gyro with a small pasta salad and my wife had the chicken souvlaki with fries. We both enjoyed our food, I’d go with the fries as a side. My pasta salad wasn’t all that great. I had a cucumber gimlet cocktail and was pretty tasty. The wait staff was kind and fast – maybe a little too fast. My wife and I both observed the hostess helping delivery plates to tables, but from time to time she would touch the food without washing her hands. We even saw one waiter move fries around with his hands as well. We brought this up with our waiter and he was applogitic and said he’d bring it to the manager’s attention.

Awful. Awful. Awful. I do not believe in writing reviews when I’m not pleased, but I could not avoid writing this one. We called here at 3:45 pm to confirm if they were open. The person who answered the phone said yes, they were open and we also confirmed if we needed reservations and they said no, come on down. We get there at 4:20 pm and the hostess walks up to us and says ‘sorry ladies we are closed!’ We were like ‘what?! We just called!” Her response was ‘oh we were so busy this morning we ran outta food and well I didn’t answer the phone’. UHHH OK?! I mean I know it’s Livermore and I shouldn’t expect much but since this place has great reviews I’d expect they would accommodate us since they told us they were open and we drove so far to get there. Bad etiquette so doesn’t matter how good the food is. Clearly hospitality is not served at this establishment. Tacky.

Five of us came in for lunch to try the Lamburgers. Food was great tasting and portions were large. Most of all I want to complement the table service which was excellent. It is so rare these days to have servers on point. There were two different male employees alternately working our table to keep glasses full and to check in. Great job all around! Very much appreciated!

Update! Unilocal sent an email with «the best Greek restaurants in the East Bay». Dimitri’s was not on it, but Simply Greek was. Yet both had 4 stars and 480 some reviews. Nothing against Simply Greek, but they’re not even in the same class as Dimitris. Simply Greek is a fast food kind of place, but Dimitri’s is more like fine dining. If you’re just going for a quick gyro, Simply Greek is great — inexpensive and big portions.
You can take your wife or a date to Dimitri’s and have a wonderful time. Totally different experience.

Once again a great meal with great atmosphere at Demitri’s! This is truly one of my top 3’s in Livermore. The special today was Sand Dabs! They were cooked to perfection. The service is always top notch and they never fail to make me feel like I’m eating at a friends house.

Small restaurant in downtown Livermore serving Greek cuisine. They have indoor and outdoor seating with a dog-​friendly patio.
My family and I came here to eat with the kids for a weekend lunch. Portions were good, but food and service were mediocre, and prices were a bit on the higher end. We would’ve also appreciated a lunch menu.
Overall, it was OK but I’m not sure we’d return.
***NOTE: Parking on 1st street is usually impossible. They have a huge, free, gravel parking lot behind the shops — I recommend you park there.

Demitri’s is one of my favorite places to take visitors or to go for a fun dining experience with my friends, coworkers, and family. We always start off with the flamed saganaki, which is flaming cheese served with pita, onions, tomatoes, and capers. And, one cannot visit Demitri’s without drinking at least one shot of ouzo and yelling, OPA! Two of my favorite items here are the dolmathes (grape leaves stuffed with herbed rice and meat, served with a light lemon sauce) and the skewered prawn salad. However, everything I have eaten at Demetri’s is excellent. For people that are under the impression they don’t like Greek or Mediterranean food, there are hamburgers, charbroiled chicken sandwiches, and charbroiled ti-​tip sandwiches.

We stopped by for lunch about two weeks ago. This restaurant is right by the First Street Fountain. We sat outside & the weather was perfect.
Our waiter was attentive and friendly. He did have a heavy accent and was a bit hard to understand. He brought our some grilled bread, which was okay, but not hot off the grill. We started off with a small Greek salad and Avgolemono, which is Greek chicken lemon soup. The salad was fresh and had lots of premium stuff: kalamata olives & Greek cheese, ripe tomatoes. The dressing was delicious. So glad we ordered this! The lemon soup was delicately flavored. You could tell it was made from scratch. We enjoyed this too.
DH got a gyro plate ($ 11.75), which is one of their most popular items. The gyro meat was flavorful and fatty in a good way, lol! We wished there was more of the tangy tzatziki Greek yogurt dip. The fries were seriously HOT and delicious, as other reviewers have mentioned. We also got a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale which was on tap. Pretty good size beer for $ 4.75. Served frosty.
Overall, a really nice place to have lunch and relax in Downtown Livermore. Good ambience, good service, tasty food, not too expensive considering the location ($ 16/​head before tip).

A great place to stop for lunch.
The menu has a wide variety of options, but I opted for the pita (with gyro meat) and fries. The pita was delicious. There was a lot of onions and garlic. The fries were crisp and delicious.

One of the best Greek restaurants around. Place is nice and clean, employees are friendly and helpful, and the food is on point.
We ordered the flamed saganaki, I ordered the side Greek village salad, and my BF ordered the gyro Caesar salad. The saganaki was amazing! It was so cheesy and so good, especially with the soft chewy pita bread. My Greek village salad was delicious and it was the perfect portion. My BF’s gyro Caesar salad was really good too, but some parts of the gyro meat was a bit dry. Salads itself were fresh and crunchy though.

Ahh this place is soooo good!
I had a craving for Greek food and decided it was about time that I checked this bookmark off my list. So glad I did, Demitri’s was all I expected and more!
The food here was so delicious, my husband and I were talking about how good it was the whole day! Seriously amazing. All of us were very happy with our meals.
The service was just as awesome, best service I have had in a while. Our waitress Shannon knew the menu inside and out and confidentially answered all of our questions. She also helped me put a low carb plate together that was so yummy I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything.
Thank you for exceeding our expectations, Demitri’s! We will definitely be back again!
