Came here for lunch. The dishes were good. The place was nice and had a modern luxury feel. For what you get though, it was slightly on the expensive side.

Last night my wife and I had dinner at Rice Bistro, she is a semi-regular there. In fact, she had lunch there on Wednesday. Let me say I am a fan of Peking duck and have had it in restaurants all across the country. Anyway, we quickly ordered: Two orders of gabby rolls, an order of mango rolls, some wine, Peking duck and an order of brown rice. The gabby rolls and mango rolls were fine. The Peking duck was cold as were the pancakes. I told the waiter and he brought it back to the kitchen. My wife saw the owner/manager and told him about the cold food plus that the waiter never came back to ask if we would like more wine. I asked if it would take long for the duck as it normally takes quite some time to prepare Peking duck. He said it would be cooked fresh. I decided to wait for it. Well, 8 minutes later they bring out the duck. What an unprofessional joke! They MICROWAVED the duck and the pancakes to reheat the food. I owned food businesses and I know food/cooking. The duck was like shoe leather or beef jerkey. the pancakes were like frisbees. The hoisin sauce was freezing cold(Right out of the fridge). I asked the owner/manager if the food was reheated. He said«I don’t know»? BTW, he said this after previously telling me it would be cooked fresh. I knew after only 8 minutes it wasn’t cooked fresh. The waiter said he had been having problems with the kitchen all day. The cooks don’t speak English and communication is difficult. The owner/manager did«comp» the duck but we don’t go out for dinner to get a ‘deal’, we want an enjoyable evening out. Oh yeah, they brought the brown rice out 5 minutes after my wife finished the sushi. We sent it back. We were more than willing to pay $ 80 — $ 100 for a nice meal. This was anything but a nice evening out! Not good!

This was our second visit to Rice and we planned a nice anniversary dinner. We were seated promptly and the service was attentive, friendly and prompt. As a diner with celiac disease, I cannot recommend this restaurant any longer and I highly discourage other celiacs from dining. We realize that it can be risky eating out as restaurants may not take Gluten Free diets for those with celiac disease seriously. Celiac is an auto-immune disease, and the only treatment is adherence to a life long gluten free diet. 95% of the menu is listed«GF». The staff was helpful and accommodating my request for sushi that was listed«GF». The manager ensured they were taking extra precautions due to my celiac disease. The waiter was helpful also. My food came out separately and was delicious, but this satisfaction was short lived. After returning home I spent the next 18 hours dealing with the repercussions of being glutened. I won’t go into detail as it is NOT pretty but I can attest to being physically harmed by the staff’s lack of oversight and insufficient safety precautions for those on a GF diet and will not be back.

Usually my boyfriend and I dine in at Rice and we’ve only had pleasant experiences doing so, however we ordered for delivery the other day and had an entirely different experience. We did one roll(good as always), egg drop soup(a little cold but not unbearably so), basil fried rice(tasted so strongly of basil that we won’t try it again but was worth trying once) and the worst Chinese meal I’ve had in my entire life of Terriyaki beef. It was equal parts too –sweet and tasteless if that makes any sense. Rather than Terriyaki sauce it arrived marinating in what I can only think of as cold water. The beef itself carried the sweet taste but there was no sauce, no Terriyaki taste in the slightest. The vegetables were barely cooked and raw tasting. I’ve always enjoyed coming to Rice but this food may very well have ruined the place for me. I would recommend dining in, every staff member I’ve ever talked to are extremely kind and personable, but stay away from the delivery. Dine in= 5 stars. Delivery= 1 star.

Rice had become are go to place. Great food, great sushi and great staff. We even rented out there little private room for a party once. Everything is wonderful! So why three stars? L U N C H Every time we come here for lunch — it’s not, well good. Sushi has been warm? Beef fatty. I feel the lunch food is just not the same as the dinner. After eating here again for lunch a few weeks back we decided not to eat here anymore — for lunch. Maybe we will return for dinner, but now when we think of great sushi or great Chinese food, it’s hard for us to think of rice. Sorry Rice …

sorry Unilocalers, I’ve got to disagree on this place. I was visiting family for thanksgiving week and we decided to grab a bite on the way back from the airport. This was for our first meal after landing. I was starving and still didn’t quite like the food. Be prepared to be confused by the menu. It’s extensive! And it has an asian identity crisis. This is definitely the type of restaurant that caters to customers who might be afraid to try real uni. There’s Thai, Chinese and Calamari on the menu and of course the sushi. Is your head spinning yet? We ordered only sushi. I asked if the crab was made of real crab and the waitress said they had both real and not real crab. That’s interesting… but Great! Right? Boy was I wrong, the roll was made out of imitation crab meat. I should have known when she asked if that’s all we wanted in the roll. «No avocado? No cucumber?» Guess I should have taken her suggestion but come on, I didn’t come to a sushi place to eat a California Roll. Pros: good wine, good miso soup and the unagi was pretty good. Other than that, the fish was not fresh or good quality. The rice was also not soft and you can tell that it was stale rice that had been sitting for a while and had sadly lost its moisture. Want traditional nigiri sushi? Pass on this place but perhaps if you’re wanted a variety of mediocre asian food, this might be the perfect spot.

DELICIOUS sushi, good wine selection, and the entire staff has always been very nice. I love the gabby roll and any of their curries. My favorite Asian restaurant!

Great food find here today for our 3 group. Service to match. We had quite a variety of tasting going on with multiple dishes of sushi and other menu items. Dessert also with 2 selected items. Everything was great. Thanks folks. Very well done. Will definitely return and recommend.

Two words, FOODPOISONING! BEWAREOFTHEPOTSTICKERS! My guy and I came here last night because the movie we wanted to see at Alamo sold out and we were starving. We were both weary of a sushi place with no Asian employees. and it also is located in the middle of the mall so that ups the price substantially. Prices were in fact steep, $ 23 for Black Dragon Rolls, are you serious? We managed to find a couple things that were reasonable. We started with the edamame & potstickers, then rainbow rolls & dragon rolls with 2 pieces of eel nigiri. The edamame was good(how can you mess this up?) but the potstickers looked sketchy as soon as they were dropped off. They were massive for one, shaped more like giant balls than delicate gyoza, and it only came with 4. I took a bite and I thought the texture seemed really off and immediately felt a weird feeling in my stomach. I set it down and continued with the edamame. I took a look at the other half of my potsticker and it was completely PINK. I looked on the menu to see what kind of meat was inside and it was pork. and this pork was a big sausage, no wonder these things were shaped so weird. I felt extremely grossed out and didn’t eat any more. When the sushi came, my stomach felt like the inside of a washing machine with poison in it. My appetite was completely gone. I had two or three pieces of sushi, they got the sushi right here. but they forgot that that’s the only thing that should be raw. My stomach had such a sharp pain I couldn’t bare to eat anymore. I really should have said something to the waitress, she was very sweet, I guess I was just in so much discomfort I didn’t even think to tell her, I just wanted the pain to go away. We asked for the check so I could go lie down. For 2 beers, 2 nigiri pieces, 2 different rolls, edamame and deadly potstickers, it came to $ 56 before tip.(keep in mind we had to dig for the best valued stuff on the menu, most items were much more expensive than what we ordered). The service is very good here(only reason this place gets more than one star) but I am so grossed out that I was served raw pork(which of course didn’t stay in my system very long… ugh.) Come here if you want to overpay for food that will make you sick and ruin the rest of your evening.

Josh was the best server, ask for his section when you visit! They have good lunch specials. My favorite is the Pad Thai with hot & sour soup. They do a nice job on the Pad Thai. Noodles nicely coated, nicely spiced. I ask for spice on the side so I can tailor it to my taste. Josh was my server. He was attentive and responsive without being over powering. It was the Greta balance servers always try to find between always being available when needed but not bugging the patrons. It was a good visit. I would recommend trying this place. It is also a quiet environment. I have never seen them busy. Seating is pretty spread out so that helps. Also, I only come over lunch.

Got a take out order of Pad Thai with extra Shrimp and spring rolls. Food was really good and my food was ready in 10 minutes! Price is reasonable and the staff was great. The best part is I asked for extra meat in the combination, but that meant extra of 3 different kinds of meat which apparently got pricey. The restaurant called me back and mentioned that to me because it was going to be an extra 10 dollar charge. I appreciated that they called me right back just to mentioned that! Would recommend :)

Came for the Sushi and sat at the bar in the back. Cory fixed me an amazing roll of his own invention and some super delicious Unagi. So good!

Here’s what’s difficult, the food that we got from Rice was awesome. I got a spicy tuna roll, and Kung pow chicken. The flavor is good, The quality is high. We got extra spicy, which was not even spicy… So think about that as a tip. We also liked the wonton soup. The reason for two stars, is that we made a delivery order. At 45 minutes past when our order was supposed to be there, we called to confirm. They had either missed placed our order or somehow forgotten to get it out the door… They agreed to give us part of our meal for free. But surprise surprise when they finally got to my house, not only have they not given us part of our meal for free, but they had included a salmon roll that we did not order, and charged us for it. This was very frustrating. So, I’ll have to go again to see if the customer service is better. And then I’ll update the review and the stars.

We came here for a date night before seeing a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves here. The service was super good and the food was delicious! Their rolls, nigiri and sashimi was fresh and prepared perfectly. The drinks were good. People are tough in their reviews of the Pad Thai but we liked it. The best we’ve ever had? Meh, probably not but it was good and really it comes down to people’s personal tastes anyway. Overall this place gets a huge thumbs up from us and we will definitely be back. Update: We’ve just hit our 10th visit to Rice and the food, service and overall experience continues to be completely consistent with our first visit. This place really knows what it means to provide an excellent customer experience. This is now our go-to on date night. We know that we will be treated right.

I have eaten at this Rice Bistro and the original location several times and haven’t been that impressed. Most of the time service is slow and the size of the sushi rolls lean towards the smaller size. The mushroom dynamite is good, but I have had it twice now where it looks as though the heavy cream in it has curdled(which is unappetizing). I do really enjoy the calamari though. The duck is usually good but can often be too fatty or too dry. The sushi rolls are tasty but as originally stated they are on the small side so be sure to order several. One thing I do not recommend here is the Alaska roll, the fish in it seems smoked and it isn’t good.

10 months later and lots more visits, Rice is still our go to place. Their menu changes a few rolls at a time to keep things fresh but they maintain our favorites too. Gone through a few of the waitstaff and the service is great no matter who you get. I don’t do a lot of online reviews, but take the time with Rice because they work hard at giving you a great experience.

We were recommended to this place by an owner of a gluten free store who also has celiacs disease. She apparently is a regular here and I can see why! The atmosphere is great for intimate dinners and small groups. It is low lit with beautiful Asian decorations. Several tables in the main dining area with additional seating at the sushi bar and in smaller rooms on the side. We ate there on a Saturday night and were pleased to be seated quickly and our order was taken promptly. They have an impressive gluten free menu with lots to choose from. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to order miso soup or a roll at a sushi place. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the beef with broccoli(one of my favorites and this was no let down!), the Harris role with scallops and tuna which was really amazing, they also have gluten free soy sauce if you desire. I ordered a medium miso soup which was like a trough of soup and very good! We all shared the chicken satay with peanut sauce and were practically licking the plate. My aunt really enjoyed her coconut curry chicken, but my uncle said his pad Thai wasn’t as flavorful as he’d like. The gluten free options were awesome, the service was great, price not bad either. None of us ordered drinks and it was about 70 before tip, for four people. The good thing is we all left very full and happy. I would definitely recommend this place and if I lived there this would likely become a local haunt.

Heard we had a new sushi place close to work so me and a coworker made a point to get over and try it. They have lunch specials but of course we didn’t order that. Picked some rolls and on the recommendation of our server tried the Gabby roll. Wow! Delicious! Not healthy, but tasty. Definitely will be going back again.
