Peak Drivers Ed

That’s great that Collin had a good experience with Peak. They get extra money for drive tests, and it sounds like that was his only experience at Peak — just needing the drive test. They take you for a 15 or 20 minute spin around the neighborhood in your own car, and it costs $ 40 or $ 45. Unfortunately, a lot of people have problems scheduling the driver instruction after they’ve paid for the course. I worked at Peak for awhile in 2013 and became very disappointed in much of the program. While Dave’s classroom training is pretty decent, the driver training is lacking of any organized training methods and people often have trouble scheduling. I didn’t find safely to be a very big concern at the school. Working with the kids and parents was great while I was at Peak, and I got good feedback, and when I quit I would have been happy to just ‘ride off into the sunset’ and be quiet, but the owners went out of their way to keep being a pain at that point, so I finally succumbed to the urge to share my views. They really don’t like negative feedback. It’s interesting that a couple people from years ago liked the school, and their posts are still active, but some of us who weren’t so thrilled keep having our posts disappear. I’m on a mission now to make sure at least one of my posts is always in, even if I have to keep putting it in over and over. One of the posts on another website is from someone with the same last name as the owners. I’m not sure if this is one of the owners’ five kids, but if it is, that’s nice that she’s supportive of her parents.
All three of my kids went to a different driver training school in the area, and they were great. My kids passed on things they learned at Master Drive to me (while we drove) and I in turn used a lot of it with the Peak kids, since Peak didn’t give me any real training to speak of.
If you are signing your kids up to drive this summer and check out Peak, hopefully you’ll also check out at least one other school. Quality driver training and safety are extremely important these days.
