I have been playing guitar for over 35 years, performing for over 20 years and teaching full time for 15 years although I have taught off and on for much longer. I attended music school at the University of Colorado in Denver and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Music in 1999.

When it comes to teaching, I consider myself a music teacher who happens to teach on guitar. My approach is to help students to enjoy music and the guitar for the rest of their lives. I do not push them in any particular direction but I do introduce them to many different styles and ideas and let them decide what appeals to them. If they want to get into serious study and get into a college music program, I can get them there. If they want to learn how to play particular songs to jam with their friends I can do that too. I keep them working on their interests and find openings within that context to give them the musical knowledge they need to continue to learn and grow as musicians.
