Business Owner

My name is Gabe Fielding and I am the owner/​operator of Fielding Tree and Shrub Care. I began working in the tree care industry upon completion of my four years of service in the United States Navy.

I learned the ropes of tree work in the mid– nineties in Newport Rhode Island at Largess Forestry with Matt Largess. There I picked up the essentials of how to be a safe and efficient ground worker by assisting expert tree climbers in their daily tasks. In Rhode Island, I was fortunate to learn expert rigging and roping techniques from Brian Noyes, formally of Aspen Tree Care in New Jersey. Brian was trained by Mark Chisholm, a former International Tree Climbing Champion and expert in the field. The knowledge passed along has become the foundation of what Fielding Tree and Shrub Care is today.

We pride ourselves on knowing every aspect of a professional tree service, from shrub removal on the ground to a climbing specialist providing our tree pruning service at the top of the tree.

Fast estimate. Very personable customer service. Worked with me to trim our large trees in a way that we wanted while another company for ex insisted on doing it only one way. The job was done well. Cleanup without any issues.

I’ve used these guys twice now and will never get competitive quotes or think twice. They are professional, make everything right, don’t have a hidden agenda or upcharge. I moved from a small town and they are small town service and «do what they say they will do when they say they will do it.»
I had them take down a large Blue spruce and their crew was fast, friendly, quick, and made sure to be clean and accommodating to the street traffic. Several neighbors also wanted to use them now and would never hesitate to recommend them. The team is the best and you can tell they love what they do. Wish my other services were like this!

Update: right after writing my review I sent an email to Fielding Tree saying that I had been calling to pay for services and got a call back right away. If you want to get a hold of the office, email may be the best bet.

Overall I had a good experience with Fielding Tree and Shrub Care.
I had Fielding remove a dead pine tree in my yard and trim up another tree. I thought their prices were reasonable, but not the cheapest. However everyone I talked to at the company seemed very knowlegable so I was willing to pay a little extra.
My one complaint was that communicating with the company was a bit difficult. They were scheduled to come to my house first thing in the morning so I stayed home from work to meet them. They did not show up that morning and I was unable to get anyone at the office to answer my calls or return my messages and emails (I left 2 voice messages and sent 3 emails). Finally at 11:00 AM I decided to give up and I left for work. About 30 minutes after arriving at work I got a call from the crew who had just arrived at my house, pretty frustrating.
After returning to my house they did a great job and the guys who came out were apologetic and very professional. They left my yard very clean and even picked up some additonal brush I had in the yard so that was very much appreciated.
So overall a great company that I will likely use again; but communications from their office staff could definietly use some improvement.

I had an excellent experience with these guys, and here is why:
— Their bid to remove a large dead tree from my lot was hundreds lower than the market leader’s.
— They arrived on time on the day of the scheduled service, were very professional and friendly, and got the job done as quickly as they could. About 2 hours to remove a ~40 foot ponderosa in a hard to reach spot.
— They cleaned up very thoroughly on their way out.
— At no point did they attempt to upsell me on additional services I didn’t ask about or that were not related to the job they were doing.
Highly recommended.

Perhaps they have all the customers they need. I was hoping with all their stars they would provide better followup. Suggest looking elsewhere and not waiting around for a non-​contact.
4⁄20: Now they try to cover their butts by saying ‘they can’t find any record’. Yes, I surely will not be using this company in the future.

The guys did an amazing job getting my large, mostly dead, cotton less cottonwood out. Not only were they on time the day of the removal but we’re friendly and cleaned up after themselves very well. I will have them back for any other tree-​related needs in the future!

Fielding Tree and Shrub really are a fine company. We have a specimen crab apple in our front yard that identifies our house and is 9 years old. It has never been pruned or trimmed. I found Fielding with good reviews for expertise and reasonable prices on Unilocal,and not too far away.
Kevin came by the house and we discussed the shaping to set the tree on it’s long life. Fielding was very prompt at calling, especially when they had to reschedule. Scott and Eric showed up right on time and we spent some time discussing the shaping, tree care, and future developments.
Scott is a real arborist who has studied trees his whole life. HIe practically lived at the arboretum at the University of Michigan while there.
Scott is a tree sculptor who shaped and trained our special tree to a high level of beauty. We could not be more pleased.
I highly recommend Fielding. They really know their work. They cleaned up the yard completely.

When we bought our house we had a few huge pine trees in our front and back yard. We shopped it, and they were the best price. Gabe came out for the initial estimate and was super friendly and on time. They came out while we were on vacation and they texted photos of the completed job. They did such a great job we had them do a few more trees. All his crew was great as well. We also got a great referral from him for our lawn and fence service. They have all the heavy duty equipment and cleaned up their mess before they left. I would recommend this company!

After spending several years dealing with tree services that said they would show up and never did it was such a pleasure to finally find a company like Fielding. Fielding did exactly what they said they would do from start to finish. Gabe and his entire team were a true pleasure to work with. Gabe came to my property and unlike many other companies Gabe knew each and every tree on my property, shocker I know. I couldn’t believe how many other tree «professionals» came to my house and didn’t even know what kind of trees I had. Gabe looked at each tree and explained what each required and quoted a price accordingly. Gabe said he would call to set up a time to trim a few months later. I did not have to follow up with Gabe he had me on his schedule, what a pleasant surprise to have a professional do what they say they are going to do.
Then when he and his crew showed up to do the actual job it was such an amazing job. My trees had never been trimmed so nice and the cleanup had never been so complete.
I would recommend Fielding Tree & Shrub Care to everyone in fact I did recommend them to my landscaping company!

Three things I love: saving money, supporting small business, and not cutting down trees. By using Fielding, I was able to do all three!
Their bid was less than half of the next cheapest competitor’s and they were the only ones to propose just trimming rather than removing a tree that we want to keep. They were very responsive and communicative via phone, text and email. They had a cancellation and so were able to do the job in less than a week. And the trees look good, at least as good as deciduous trees can look in the dead of winter.
So, here’s one more 5– star review to add to their collection.

After being over quoted by another company we called Gabe. He was out within a day gave us an estimate half the cost of his competitor. We also had another company out the same day and my husband said to pick Gabe because he was impressed with his professionalism! The guys came out today, what a bunch of cool and fun guys! They were all so nice! They took my tree down with no hesitation! The tree down and cleanup took an hour! I will Definitely be using their services again! Thanks Gabe!!!

After spending the Summer dealing with unreliable and unprofessional landscapers and tree services it was a welcome change to deal with Gabe and his crew. They are professional, courteous, and did a great job on a large tree removal job that included taking out a spruce tree by crane. They we’re actually able to get me in a few days early, arrived on time, and after they left there was virtually no evidence that they had removed a 50 foot Spruce tree that was touching my roof. They not only met but exceeded my expectations. Thank you Gabe and your crew.

Not that they need another 5 star review to convince you, but these guys are great. Gabe is awesome to work with, and is very professional. They both called and emailed me, to confirm that they would be at my home at the time and date we agreed on. Their crew was courteous and prompt, and even moved the lawn furniture, to ensure a damage free experience. They arrived on time and got the job done perfectly. Cleanup was excellent, and the lawn was left spotless. I could not recommend them more!

Gabe and his team were AWESOME! After doing the consult (which was 1 day after I requested an estimate), his bid was priced about the same as others and he had more enthusiasm about the project than other companies I called. He was really nice and I scheduled the appointment for the removal the same day
When his crew came out to do the removal, they arrived on time and finished quickly. They left my yard cleaner than they had arrived and everyone was very nice and professional. Besides that, I could tell they were having a lot of fun doing it. Very wonderful & I would definitely call him again for any tree needs in the future.

Another very happy customer!
After reading all the glowing reviews, I went to their website and requested an estimate. Gabe Fielding called me back within the hour and came out the next day to do an estimate. I had three companies give me estimates for this fairly large job, and they were within $ 125 of each other. I went with Fielding since he was the first to respond, and he seemed very knowledgeable. We set an appointment for the following week.
A great crew showed up on time, all very nice and they seemed to really enjoy what they were doing. They removed several trees and a few juniper bushes, ground up a couple of stumps, trimmed up some large cottonwoods and even removed an old stack of firewood.
My yard looks fantastic now! I highly recommend this company!

Gabe was priced right, did a great job and though he was difficult to get ahold of (a lot of phone tag/​communicating back and forth via VM) he provided great service. His crew also cleaned up so well we could hardly tell they’d been there– except for my prettied up trees, of course.
He trimmed two HUGE cottonwood trees in our backyard that were long overdue. They look wonderful! He was quick to get out to provide a bid, easy enough to schedule with, and when we had one particular dead branch that seemed to have been missed he was gracious about fixing it before expecting payment. We didn’t have to be there for the service and he accepted credit card over the phone.
I wasn’t there to watch, but neighbors told me it was quite fun to watch them scaling 50 feet in the air– so thanks for entertaining the neighbors too!
Overall, very happy and we will call him for all our tree/​shrub needs!

We live in a neighborhood of Denver that has some very old trees, most of which go uncared for. Trees are history though, and we wanted to make an investment in caring for the two large trees on our lot; «Titan» the gigantic tree of then unknown species and the old apple tree in our back yard.
We called a few companies for quotes and did our research on average costs and services in Denver. Fielding came out on top because of Gabe’s quick response and knowledgeable friendliness. Technically, Gabe’s was the higher bid (by $ 34), but we found that he was offering more bang for each buck.
As it turns out, Gabe took one look at the apple tree and gave us the sad news that it had a severe infection that would take a lot more time, effort, and money than was probably worthwhile. It could be done however, if that was what we wanted.
Good news came when he (on-​sight) identified Titan as a Siberian Elm and said that with some good pruning, the tree was a keeper. He was also rather excited to climb the 50ft+ tall tree. I like/​d his enthusiasm.
We opted in to have Titan pruned and fertilized and have the apple tree as well as a smaller Siberian elm by our fence cut down. We kept the apple wood, it’s going to be great for smoking meats.
When Gabe and Crew came by, they set up and went to work. They all work well together and you could tell that they not only were having fun, but enjoyed the job itself. Very proactive. Frank was even in the back working on the apple tree while the rest were taking care of Titan.
Overall they delivered superbly the services I requested, and in a timely manner. I paid by card easy. I also just had fun watching them and talking to them a bit while they took a break. Titan is looking a great deal better, and I will be requesting Fielding to work on my small plum tree once the budget allows for it.
