Bicycle Village – Littleton

Visited a week or so ago. Nate helped out our whole group. Very knowledgeable and super cool guy. We loved all the recommended bikes. They were great fun and super affordable! We Will Be Back!!!

I have bought 2 bikes from this location and I can say they have always been more than helpful every time I walk in, even for tiny things. My most recent experience has put them over the top. I had received a part that was brand new, but couldn’t work with the bike I had. Almost without hesitation Jason, one of the Mgrs, allowed me to exchange it for a part that would work for my setup. I wasn’t really expecting this, but the fact that they even considered this, let alone actually doing it has put them over the top for customer satisfaction. I’ll be buying all my parts from them from now on.
They can’t be beat!

Jonathan, one of the techs, went above and beyond helping me out today. Needed my dropper seat post installed and gave me a tune up while I waited. I’ve never had a bad experience with this company!

Scott and Peter were amazing! My husband and I bought two new bikes from Scott. Scott and Peter helped us find accessories to outfit our new bikes just the way we wanted them. Peter needed to customize the fit of both fenders so they would go on the bike and everything looks perfect! Love our new bikes and all the attention to detail and service we received. Thanks guys!!!

Fabulous service team! I came in with a goofy problem with a saddle. It was close to closing time on a Thursday (7−30−15) and these two guys couldn’t have been nicer. This place has all of my future business.

Scott from Littleton was wonderful! He made sure I got everything I need. He called when my bike was ready and was extremely knowledge and helpful! If you need a bike, go see Scott and he will take care of you!

If you aren’t already a physically fit person be prepared for a condescending attitude.
Scene:
A heavyset boyfriend looking to get into cycling to help with weight loss.
An attractive girlfriend who is already an avid cyclist.
A scruffy unkempt sales person.
Boyfriend asks for recommendations and tries out a couple bikes riding each around the store.
Salesperson turns to girlfriend while boyfriend is testing a bike and says, «you’ve got your work cut out for you».
That little quip cost your store an $ 800 sale and a lifetime of business from both boyfriend and girlfriend and their families.
Being a judgemental ass is not the best sales tactic.

Had trouble with my Trek Marlin 6 so I dropped in today. Mad props to BV Littleton. This is my 2^nd walk-​in in 1 week and both times they fixed my bike. For some reason peoples reviews are hating on the sales reps but the techs are off the chain!

If you need bicycle work done this a great shop. If you need to buy anything from the store I would recommend somewhere else. They just don’t have the staff (mentally or physically) to support any customer base.

I have had two excellent experiences at Bicycle Village in the past 6 months. The first was getting a safety check, tuneup and thorn-​resistant tires for my older hybrid. The work done was evident in the much improved ride and mechanical functioning. It was done on time and within the quote. I recently took it back because I could not break free the hex on the seat adjustment. Justin took care if it and replaced the clamp, on the spot, no waiting, and for a couple of dollars for the part only.
But BEST is this: I am obviously not a hot shot road cyclist, just a little, aging recreational rider. I am treated seriously, and like their best customer, even though I am not there to buy a high priced ride or a bunch of gear. (In a neighboring shop I was invisible and ignored, as I don’t fit the «look» of a Colorado cyclist.) When I buy a new bike this spring (preparing for a VBT bike trip) Bicycle Village will be my go-​to store.

This review is specific to the location on Crestline & S. Wadsworth only. I took my mtn bike in for some service about a year ago. I was quoted a price for the repair I’d requested, left my bike for a couple days I think. The time wasn’t bad, it was when they promised. What wasn’t as promised was the price. When I picked up my bike from the service dept in the back of the store, they gave me the service paperwork with my bike and said to pay up front. I didn’t even look at it, I thought I knew the price. Ha! The woman at the cash register rings me up and it’s TWICE whet they quoted me! Turns out they just did some extra work that I hadn’t requested, just because they wanted to. I was furious! This is a classic used car sales scam and I was steamed. I refused to pay for the additional work since I hadn’t authorized any extra work. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I didn’t go back for a year, this October 2013. I went in for some disc brake pads. The guy who helped me with the pads was nice, and he identified a problem with my brake caliper just from looking at my used pads. He told me it probably just needs a bleed. I asked if they could do that as I have never worked on hydraulic brakes on a bike. He said they’d do it for $ 15. That included unsticking the piston in the caliper if necessary. The next day I took my bike in. A different guy checked my bike in and says «$ 25» JUST to bleed the brakes, anything else would be extra. He starts looking over my bike and asked if there was any other issues they could work on. I told him everything else is fine and hesitantly told him about the last time I had my bike in there and to please NOT do any other service to my bike without my prior approval. He immediately copped an attitude. He had told me at first that he would likely get the job done that day. After my comments about my last experience he changed the completion time to «by close of business tomorrow». I went by there the next day at about 4:30 and they hadn’t even started on it yet. They literally pushed it to last possible moment. I picked my bike up 15 min before they closed.
And that will be the last time I go there! There are 3 other bike shops within less than a mile of this Bicycle Village. I don’t need to endure that used car sales treatment for my bike service. I gave them 2 chances and they chose to try to stick it to me both times. No more. I’m done with them.

I am surprised by all the negative reviews, granted they are over a year old. I have to believe they’ve made some changes because my experience in the last year has been excellent. I bought a mountain bike last summer and am in the process of buying a new road bike. Justin the manager was extremely knowledgeable and spent a long time with me helping me choose the right bike and I rode many. I never felt rushed or brushed off. I’ve always been helped right away and always had great service. I originally bought a 26er mountain and they took it back within 30 days when i decided to get a 29er. I did overhear some folks complain that it took a while to get service when I was in yyesterday, but probably because there were a ton of people in on that day. I’ll be back to shop here.

Jason is awesome. Nice, knowledgeable staff that listen and are riders. They hooked me up with some rare parts a few times, which no one in the state had in stock.

BV has what has to be the worst customer service of anywhere. In the last month I’ve been told so many things that just aren’t true and I’ve had to make so many trips to BV that I’ll never go back (just one more return before I can escape). It started a month ago when I bought a new road bike and some shoes. After explaining how I ride and what I don’t like about my current bike I was assured repeatedly that a new Felt bike was right for me. I returned a few days later for a fitting. The fitter looked at me and then the bike and shook his head. He knew right off that it wasn’t going to work. I bought it at the big tent sale that had lots of the bikes that would have been just right, as it turns out. Of course that opportunity was gone now, squandering something like $ 400. I also got some new shoes but without knowing better I was advised, again, to get the wrong type (hey, I told the guy how I would use them but that was ignored).
So I waited for 3 weeks for the next tent sale in Boulder looking for the right bike this time. Of course that model and size weren’t available. I got the right type of shoe this time with some new pedals and was told, after asking 3 times, that all the hardware was included.
So here I am, waiting on Sunday morning for the store to open to get the rest of the hardware needed to put the new cleats on the new shoes that «have all the hardware that you’ll need.»

I purchased at this store because of the price on the specific bike I wanted. I called ahead, asked that my bike be prepped and explained that I am a new rider, and needed to be walked through things.
I got a 20 minute conversation about Colorado, but when I left I had not been shown how the bike features worked, and my knowledge of bikes or this bike, had increased by ZERO.
I took my new bike out that evening for a ride — my tires were low! Really? They didn’t prep the bike at all?
Later that day I bought a bike from Walmart for my daughter and believe it or not, AT WALMART — they took her bike in the back, adjusted things and aired the tires without me even asking. …so Bicycle Village… FAIL.

I recently took my vintage road bike in for a tune-​up. Everything was working well on the bike, but it had been quite some time since my last tune-​up. I chose the upgraded tune-​up which included the gear cleaning. The first issue I had was that they stated it would take one full week for the work to be completed. I was disappointed by this since the days of good weather are coming to an end. A week later when I picked my bike up, I drove to a nearby path for a ride. Once on my bike, I noticed that my gears were not shifting correctly and the bike ran very loud. I took it back that evening and they began to work on it again and asked that I leave it for another day. The next night I picked it up and they explained to me that they resolved the shifting issue for the most part but my bike was in need of an entire new drive train. Once again I explained that I never had this issue before. I brought it back home and left it in my car that night. The next day, both tires were flat. This was odd since the tubes were almost new and I had not rode the bike for more than a mile since I originally dropped it off. Once I fixed that issue, the bike was still running loud and shifting horrible. I was so tired of dealing with their staff, I took my bike to Turin Bicycles on Lincoln St. in Denver. The staff at Turin was amazing. Fixed all of Bicycle Villages terrible work in less than an hour for $ 8, and never recommended that I buy an entire new gear set. I will not go to Bicycle Village again. I agree with the poor reviews other Unilocal reviewers have stated about the service department.

The staff here are rude and the basic tune-​up is a rip-​off. I waited 10 minutes when I was dropping my bike off for someone to even acknowledge me back at the service desk. The guy was too busy chatting with a co-​worker to be bothered with his actual job. Then I was presented with three levels of tune-​up services which started at $ 60 and went up to $ 200. I opted for the basic just wanting a lube and adjustment as it listed. But it also said the frame would be wiped down and other things inspected. Two weeks later, when I finally got called and picked it up, it looked just as it had when I dropped it off. They told me they only lube things that need it and there was nothing written on the service ticket to indicate what was checked. The staff were seriously arrogant and rude when I asked questions. I was basically told to just trust they did work on it. What a rip! Never going back.
