Beer & Pizza Pairing at Mellow Mushroom – Centennial!

As much as pizza hurts my tummy, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try Mellow Mushroom’s awesome varieties and a sampling of their local craft brews!
With my fiancé in tow, we were greeted by Frances and other smiley elites on the patio. I always love to sit outside, especially in the evening when it’s cooled down. Here were the takeaways:
FOOD: so so so good! the appetizers were my favorite part and will gladly order the bruschetta again and Ben loved the beer cheese and pretzels! The pizzas are all very unique and so delicious — with kosmic karma winning my vote for the best!
STAFF: amazing. they were so welcoming, very accommodating for our large group, constantly keeping our waters filled, plates cleared and kept that beer flowing!
What a great event and a great way to meet fellow elites, old and new! I can’t wait for the next one! :)

I really enjoyed this Unilocal event. Ive always wanted to try the Mellow Mushroom and this gave me the perfect opportunity. This place had so many wild and interesting pizza flavors, that i just had to try them all. The Kosmic Karma was delightful, the Mowie Wowie was exotic, the buffalo chicken had a spicy kick and the gourmet white was deeeeeeeeelicious! I also enjoyed the bruschetta and the pretzels with the marinara and beer cheese dipping sauces. I mixed the two together for an extra special taste sensation! For dessert I order a banana split, that was the size of a small boat! as Daniel B stated in his picture it truly was «Ginormous». Shout outs go out to Jesse, Starr, Daniel, Alex and all my other friends and fellow Unilocalers. Thank you everybody for making my evening magical!

It was a lovely evening on the patio with old friends and new. I was fortunate enough to get to meet some new Unilocal Elite to our area Rishard C and Lynn C. This lovely couple arrived in our great state not to long ago and last night was their first Elite Event in Denver. I was more then happy to fill them in our our great events and also some great area place.
Now to the festivities. I’m not a beer drinker but I am trying to broaden my horizons a little so this was perfect for me. The pizza was absolutely wonderful and the beers selected to pair were really good. I was able to sip and sample some of everything and paired as well with some great conversation and friends it made for a perfect evening. I was also happy to reconnect a great friend with an old acquaintance I brought as my guest.
The Mellow Mushroom pulled out the greatest food and greatest staff to make our pairing dreams come true. The beer cheese was probably my favorite of the night. I must also admit we sampled the Banana Pudding and it did not disappoint. I am an east coast pizza girl at heart but the samplings from the shroom will certainly have me coming back for more.

It’s pretty hard to go wrong with pizza and beer and Frances and the Mellow Mushroom made sure that it was 5 stars all the way.
The staff was incredible. They were so happy to help and replenish and make sure we never went thirsty! They even brought me some wine when I just needed respite from the beer.
We started with bruschetta paired with O’Dells 90 Schilling and — the favorite of the night– the pretzel with beer cheese paired with the DELICIOUS Demshitz Brown from Bonfire Brewing. That was my favorite beer of the night and that pretzel was just too good to resist. Ugh. Believe me, I did try to resist!
Next they paraded out 4 different pizzas:
Kosmic Karma (a veggie pizza with pesto and red sauce) paired with a pale ale from O’Dell’s
White Pizza (no sauce, red onions, and tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes) paired with I THINK Great Divide’s Titan IPA
Buffalo Chicken (chicken, hot sauce) with Oskar Blues Mama’s Yellow Pils
Maui Wowie (seasoned chicken, pineapple, peppercinis) with Lone Tree Brewing Apricot Blonde
It’s hard for me to pick a favorite. They all had something that was good about them — white pizza for simplicity, Kosmic Karma for the veggies, Buffalo Chicken for the kick, and the Maui Wowie for its interesting combo.
The staff pushed us to finish ALL THE BEER. Seriously, they were great. This was a really fun event and as always, hanging out with fellow Unilocalers was a treat.

So excited for this event! Who would’ve thought to have a beer and pizza pairing event? I’ll tell you who, Frances G, that’s who! I’ve been wanting to try the Mellow Mushroom for a while now and this was a fabulous opportunity to give them a spin.
Mellow Mushroom had our group seated out on their large patio and it was fabulous! They offered us samplings of their bruschetta and pretzels with both a marinara and a cheesey beer dip. Super delish! For the main event we had not two or three, but four specialty pizzas and beers to buddy them with. We got to try the Kosmic Karma, Buffalo Chicken, Gourmet White, and the Maui Wowie. Now the last two were my personal favorites. So tasty! The beer pairings were spot on and each beer was a Colorado local! That’s a great perk!
The only thing I would’ve liked for this event that we’ve had for other pairing event would’ve been for a staff member to come and chat with us about the flavor compliments and whatnot of each beer and it’s pizza partner. Not like we needed that much direction for pizza and beer… CONSUME! Way to raise the elite event bar yet again!
