Fast and friendly! Their sausage gravy on hot cakes is fantastic! Best restaurant around.

We’ve ordered the broasted chicken, both white and dark, with sides. The servers have been attentive. The place is clean. We’d give the broasted chicken five and a half and the sides four stars. The apple fries and mashed potatoes were very good. The fries need some more seasoning. Perhaps the best broasted chicken we’ve had. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, and made to order.

Fantastic chicken! Reminds me of the food served at the Cozy in Thurmont(RIP.) The only thing missing was the corn pudding. I still have dreams about eating a whole chafing dish full. Gotta research this«broasted» process… Fried chicken without grease!

A homey place where everyone seems to know everyone else. Atmosphere is very relaxed, mostly booths. There’s a few TVs sprinkled around but they don’t give you the feel of a sports bar at all. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The menu is pretty limited with very reasonable prices. They specialize in broasted chicken — a combination of roasted and baked. The rest of the options were very home style — meatloaf, chicken livers, turkey & dressing. Half of our party was happy with their dinners, the other half disappointed(BBQ sandwich was what I’d call a sloppy joe.) In all, not a place I’d go out of my way to eat(unless broasted chicken is your thing,) but a safe, friendly option if you’re passing through.

I recently contacted this restaurant to have a gift certificate sent to my Mom who literally lives a few miles from this restaurant. We patronized this place from when it first opened for business. They were NOT willing to send a gift certificate and said«they really couldn’t do that» unless it was for more than $ 25.00. Really??? Their menu items are not even that excessive in price; have no idea why they couldn’t send a gift certificate! Apparently the amount wasn’t enough and they weren’t willing to even try to get the business. Don’t worry – I won’t be patronizing this restaurant anymore if that is their general attitude.

We stopped in for the first time while traveling to Gettysburg, and it was a good pick. Plenty of food for the money, and I liked their unique recipes for macaroni salad and pepperslaw. Service was fast and friendly; the staff seemed happy. We’d eat here again.

Went to Dutterer’s after discovering that a nearby longtime favorite, Hillcrest, was closed and up for sale. Always sad to see an old timey family place go away. Dutterer’s also has the old timey feel to it, and certainly attracts a lot of old timers, as well as folks of all ages. I had a 2-piece broasted chicken meal, that style of chicken being a specialty of theirs. My sides of corn fritters and pepper slaw were both quite good, and outshone the chicken by a good bit. The chicken pieces — a thigh and leg — were ridiculously humongous, as if the chicken were on some serious steroids. However, I wasn’t all that impressed with the overall taste, and they were quite greasy, even for dark meat chicken. The dinner roll that accompanied the meal was average at best, and something of a disappointment. Ice tea was pretty good, and service was down homey and solid.

Had cheesesteak subs at Dutterer’s tonight. The service was prompt and friendly, the sandwiches good although the fries were cold. Overall a positive experience. We will probably stop back in to try their breakfast.

Atmosphere is great until they turn the air off because they want to go home. It quickly warms up in there. The flies can be entertaining while waiting for your waitress to come back to the table. The food has good proportions however is very bland. You might want to bring your own seasoning with you.

Great little place on the way to Gettysberg. We stopped in and the wait staff were so incredibly friendly. I saw a dish called Scrapple and I inquired of what this was. I said what the heck, I’ll give it a try. I liked it. I probably wouldn’t order it again, but it was worth checking it out. The prices were incredibly low but the food quality was high.

Dutterer’s is a local family restaurant, which my wife and I stopped off at on our way to Gettysburg this past weekend. With friendly waitstaff, and good food, this should be a must eat place for anyone passing through Littlestown.
