I want to start by saying I have never written a negative review online — in short, we are people who try to resolve any issues we have as peacefully as possible without resorting to this medium. We had Reilly’s pave our driveway and pour cement stairs approximately 6 years ago. They were referred by a friend and we were interested in finding a paver with a solid reputation. The quote was higher than other pavers but we were committed to spending the money to ensure high quality work as well as supporting local businesses. Six years later our driveway is cracking and the cement stairs are crumbling. After weeks of phone calls to Reilly’s, we finally had the owner Richard Reilly come to our home to address our concerns. He was perplexed about the condition of the stairs and less concerned about the driveway despite our understanding that the life of a driveway should be substantially longer than six years. He told us to call him in a week if we didn’t hear from him with some sort of resolution. Two months later we had still not received a return phone call despite two dozen polite phone calls to his office. While the staff answering the phone were generally nice it was clear that our calls were being avoided and that Richard had no intention of following up with us. We were repeatedly told by the office staff that Richard was working on a lot of new requests for work and would call us back(ranging anywhere from«later today» to «sometime this week». In all fairness — It should be noted that we only had a 1 year warranty on the work — SHAMEONUS for not reading the fine print. We are now projecting several thousand dollars in repair work to correct what should have been corrected by Reilly’s. In summary, the work done at our home was of poor quality and high priced. In addition, we are very disappointed with how we were treated — there was no responsibility taken for the faulty work and no genuine interest in pursuing a resolution. Lastly, read the fine print — and closely monitor business interactions. Our calls were never returned promptly even at the time that the work was fist done — including a final component of the project that was never completed that we had a friend address.

DON’T waste your time with this company. I have a second home in Atlantic Highlands with a small driveway I wanted to get paved. In August 2014 they came out to look at the driveway when I wasn’t home and sent me an estimate. It looked good so I called and told the secretary I’d like for them to do the job, but I had a question regarding the material for the border. I asked that Mr. Reilly give me a call. He didn’t so a week later I called back. I was told I was on the list for my job to be done. I told the same secretary that was good, but I still needed a call back. It’s now October, I’ve called five times. I give up. Unfortunately, it’s now too late in the season to get someone else. Yes, I should have found someone else sooner. I also own a business, If I treated customers in this manner I wouldn’t have a business for long. Hmm, maybe that’s a sign of the direction Reilly Paving is going.
