Excellent sushi and service is wonderful! The restaurant is quaint and has a relaxing environment.

Tasty selection, just really slow and seemed understaffed. We ordered three sushi rolls and found them to be VERY good. I highly recommend the Mt Fuji roll. The bento box was tasty and provided us with plenty to share. The food was good and we all left satisfied.

I’ve been coming to this location since it was the Conastoga Sandwich Shop. For the past 2+ years it has been my #1 sushi place in LR as I have championed the Hurricane Roll to all my friends as the Best. Roll. Ever.
Tonight, Mt Fuji disappointed me supremely. 1 hour and 10 mins from the time we ordered until first roll hit the table. On a Tuesday. While it was somewhat busy at 7pm when we got there, it was definitely «empty» at 825 when our first roll arrived. They tried to compensate by throwing a free beer my way. I’m sorry MT Fuji, I don’t want a beer I want what we ordered.
To top it all off, we had to cancel (my beloved) Hurricane Roll bc after 90(!) minutes they still couldn’t get it to the table.
Do yourself a favor and find a different Sushi place in LR. One that understands the value of their customers’ time.

I’d like to give this a 3 ½ star. The service was fast and courtesy. The restaurant could be updated just a tad.
My husband ate a sushi lunch box that came with 2 gyoza, soup, salad, 4 pieces sashimi, house roll & 2 piece specialty roll. Over all he was quit satisfied with it only cost $ 9.50.
My daughter and I shared a California roll, spicy scallop roll and a volcano roll.
California roll was as expected… pretty good for the norm.
Spicy scallop was tasty but a tad small.
Volcano roll was the best, but it had a ton of sauces on it. «Don’t drowned your food» was not followed on this roll!
I will come back as they are always a safe place to go to for sushi.

We ordered the sushi Boat Platter. Very disappointing. The rolls were all cooked and the actual nigiri and sashimi, what there was of it, was extremely thinnly sliced. We were also overcharged and our server didn’t seem to know much about the menu.
Go to Sushi Café or Honaroo if you want decent sushi. Skip this place.

Service was great and the owner was very polite and nice. So far this is the best Japanese food i’ve tasted in Ar which is not a buffet. I would recommend the shrimp tendon and the miso ramen. But there are still other yummy food here like the beef sukiyaki. Even the takoyaki balls is delicious. Overall, this is a great place if you’re looking for authentic Japanese food.

Great service, decent sushi, awesome specials. Smells funny in there, but I love the place anyway. They are very accommodating and kind about my friend’s gluten intolerance!

It has been about two months since we actually had the bad dining experience at Mt. Fuji. We had been regular customers there for over a year and had always loved the food, as was why I hesitated to even write a bad review. I’ve had time to think it over and feel like I should say this. My boyfriend and I had both ordered sushi rolls (the kind they were doesn’t matter). We were eating and talking and I happened to look down and see something sticking out the top of a section of one of the rolls I was eating. What my first thought was, is that it was a paintbrush bristle. I just sat there staring at it until finally I picked it out with my fingernails and yep, just as I thought… a hair. Now granted, it was a short piece of hair, so I actually dismissed it. I figured it was accidental and I also didn’t want to alert my boyfriend that there was ANYTHING wrong with the food because he has a very touchy stomach and I figured he would be sick. I went on ahead and ate that section of that roll and blew it off. I had two different rolls, so I started eating the other one. After a couple of sections of it, I decided to go back to the original one and just as I flipped it over, I thought I’d better make sure it didn’t have anything wrong with it and I’m glad I did. There was another hair… I flipped over another section, and there was another hair! My boyfriend finally noticed I wasn’t hearing a thing he was saying and saw that I’d stopped eating and he asked me what was wrong. I showed him what I’d found and by then I had figured out that it wasn’t a bunch of separate hairs, it was just one hair that had been «rolled» into the whole roll and then cut into sections as the roll was cut. Not that that made it any better. At that discovery, my boyfriend stopped eating and was doing some deep breathing not to puke. We asked for the manager and when she came to our table I showed her the roll and I pulled out the hair out of the rest of the sections. Her comment was «I told her she needs to cut her hair!» she said pointing to the chef behind the counter who had made it. I told her that I just couldn’t finish the rest of it and my boyfriend told her he was done. When she brought our bill she told us that she had taken off that one roll and that was it. After thinking about it for a while I thought that the matter could’ve been handled a lot better than that. As a manager, in order to keep good customers, she should’ve either not charged us for the meal or either provided us with different food altogether and shouldn’t have laughed off the employee with the long hair. Which brings me to another point. A hair in food does often happen accidentally, but how easy is it to cut one single long hair into six separate sections? That would be tough to do. Draw your own conclusions on that one. We haven’t been back to Mt. Fuji since and just can’t bring ourselves to.

While Hanaroo might be my go to cheap sushi place, Mt. Fuji has been deemed my special occasion/​splurge authentic sushi place. Really great quality sashimi. The restaurant itself looks and feels old, but the food alone will keep me coming back.

First, let’s discuss the negatives. Came on a busy Friday night. The owner seated us, and everything seemed like it would be great. It appears that the place is actually owned by Japanese people, and has a sort of mom-​and-​pop feel. We ordered shumai as an appetizer and some sushi, and our server was nice and friendly. However, it seemed like we were put at the bottom of the list in terms of service, because every other table seemed to get their food before we did, despite coming in later. The sushi bar seemed to be understaffed, and there was a big backlog according to the server. They also appeared to have some sort of computer problem with their order tracking, because we got two of a certain roll when we only ordered one, and the server was certain that he only put in one order. Anyway, after quite a long wait, we finally got everything we ordered. The previously friendly owner lady ran by our table a few minutes later and literally tossed our check on the table without so much as a word or even a look. We hadn’t even ordered the dessert we wanted.
Now the positives: There is a great restaurant under all these problems. Before the rush of people came in, the service was great. The selection was very focused (pretty much only Japanese food, no weird fusion stuff, or Korean or Chinese style dishes) and the food we received was really very good. Sushi was fresh enough, and presentation was nice. Our server was very polite, very apologetic, and clearly did his best to make sure we had as good an experience as possible. I’ll probably come back to give it another chance on a weeknight, and hopefully the restaurant I’m sure they really are will come through. Say what you will of chain restaurants, but I feel they tend to have a level of polish that independent restaurants can lack, especially during busy times. I’m willing to give this restaurant another try. I’ll update this review at that time, hope for the best.

Best sushi in Little Rock, although the atmosphere leaves a little to be desired.
It certainly isn’t as fun a place to hang out as some of the other sushi bars in town (namely Sushi Café), but you won’t have to wait as long or pay as much.
I recommend the Yum-​Yum Special, doubling up on the alligator roll.

Great sushi, friendly service, affordable prices. This is my favorite sushi spot in LR. But, you don’t come here for the atmosphere. It’s a hole-​in-​the-​wall in a strip mall. A great weeknight dinner.

I smelled moldy carpet as soon as I walked in the door. After watching so many episodes of Kitchen Nightmares, I knew I should turn around and leave, but for some reason I didn’t. As we were being walked to our table, girlfriend turns to me and says «it smells bad in here.»
We were the only table in the place on a weekday at lunch — for the entirety of our meal.
Cheery Asian-​lady server was wonderful, chatting pleasantly with us and making us feel welcome. Unfortunately, we still had to eat their food. Girlfriend ordered a rather standard teriyaki chicken bento-​box lunch thing, I had «Korean Chirashi.» The chicken was stringy and tough, the obligatory California roll was cold and mayonnaise-​y, miso soup was instantly forgettable.
My chirashi was described as: fresh fish on a bed of seasoned rice over vegetables with Korean bbq sauce. I got: a bowl of undercooked rice and bean sprouts, over a bed of iceberg lettuce (?), topped with slices of old, mushy fish that had been defrosted days ago, alongside a blob of dark red paste. The Korean chile bbq sauce/​paste tasted like the bottom of someone’s foot.
The mackerel sashimi part of the dish made me gag it was so old.
A previous reviewer raves about the rolls, perhaps they are edible. With enough Panko bread crumbs, chile aioli, sliced jalapeño and eel sauce on something, you can’t taste if the fish is any good anyway.
Two stars instead of one because I am thrilled that I didn’t get food poisoning.

Went for lunch. Got the Shrimp Tempura. It came with soup, salad and sushi. It was very yummy. All for $ 8! Can’t beat that. I will definitely be back.

Not the best sushi I’ve ever had but certainly the best in arkansas. I have a bit of a fondness for this place since it’s where I had my first date with my husband and it’s still one of our favorite spots for special nights. The staff are always friendly. Our fav rolls are the volcano, hurricane and new Orleans.

Ate there yesterday for the first time using a Living Social coupon and I will be going back. They had a great range of prices and the food was delicious. it still doesn’t beat Sushi Café in Searcy, AR but it was very good and the people were very nice. The décor leaves something to be desired but the food took precedence over the 50’s décor.

. I lived in Japan for 3 years. This is the only really authentic restaurant in lr area. Outstanding. If you want the REAL DEAL this is it. This is the only Japanese restaurant I would take Japanese friends. Has grocery store on first level with gifts too.

This is the first and best Japanese in Little Rock. The service is wonderful and the food is even better. The sushi is fresh and well prepared as is everything at Mt. Fuji. Don’t forget the green tea ice cream!
