This Kroger is as diverse as the people that frequent it. Myself included. I’ve been to many a location throughout Little Rock and though this isn’t in the best of areas. It is my local Kroger and it can hold its own against the others despite its size. Yes it’s in an older building, yes it has a security guard, yes there are no U-Scans, and so on and so on. You would think that would deter, but I’ve just embraced it. Yes there are so many other things, but my shopping experience has always been ideal here. I can handle all of my shopping here from produce(it’s actually not as bad as described by my fellow Unilocaler) to frozen goods to so many other items. I’ve actually found some great finds while at this Kroger. What might you ask??? Fever Tree Tonic and Ginger Beer for my many concoctions and Gatorade Protein Shakes… Something I haven’t seen since my deployments. The only thing lacking in the food department for me is that there isn’t a true deli at this store. This is my one true gripe. I can shop till I drop, and do so with friendly patrons(more often than not I receive a hello) and friendly employees. A small Kroger square in the center of LR. That almost has everything, almost. One thing it does have is a diverse lot of people, and as diverse as the neighborhood that surrounds it.

I like this Kroger least of all the ones I’ve been to in Little Rock. I’ve been to this store a few times, and these are my observations: The store is very small. While the standard services are available in this location, they are crammed tightly into a small building. There is a security guard employed at all times(to my knowledge). The neighborhood isn’t good, and I imagine that they’ve had their share of troubles. It wouldn’t be fair to say that this Kroger is dirty, because it isn’t. It just isn’t particularly clean, especially compared to other Krogers in the nearby area. The prices for some items are higher here than at other Krogers, and I’m not sure why that is. My biggest issue with this location, though, is that the produce is abysmal. The dates on the packaged produce – salad mix, spinach, mixed greens – hasn’t expired, but the lettuce is brown and wilted, like they were sitting in the back unrefrigerated before being stocked on the shelves. The rare find of lettuce that isn’t wilted will expire in a day or two. Similarly, the apples and other fruit seems bruised and not at all fresh. The produce section is very small as well. There are no self-checkout stations, which makes some sense given the neighborhood and the lack of space, but it’s inconvenient to wait when I run in for just one item. All in all, this Kroger is fine if I need something quick, but I absolutely avoid making whole shopping trips at this location.
