Ian K.

Business Owner

Ian’s love for instrument building and wood working began in High School where he built his first instrument: a custom drum kit.

His love for building custom instruments continued leading him to the Gallop School of luthier and Instrument Repair.

Upon graduation Ian moved to Montréal where he worked in a custom guitar shop. During this time he built and worked for names like Keith Richards (of the Rolling Stones) and Andy McKee.

In March of 2011, Ian opened his very own shop: Kelly Custom Instruments. Since then Ian has devoted his life to repairing musicians instruments and building Custom guitars tailored to clients custom needs and requests.

Excellent luthier. Like many repair businesses (auto home ect) people can be taken advantage of.
Ian is incredibly knowledgable and is always fair to the customer. When I first stopped by he had Roger Water’s guitar in the back… This guy does incredible work!

We were passing through New Jersey on our way to an audition and was having trouble keeping the Gibson in tune. These guys were superb. They were professional, knowledgeable and got the work done quickly. Fantastic job. I would go back here in a second and recommend them highly.

After researching for months I finally found the right place for me. I brought my 1997 Sante Fe 1997 LTD «Gecko» for the owner to take a look at. Not only did this man completely restore my very rare guitar, he also brought it back to life. The amount of technical knowledge Kelly custom instruments has is almost unbelievable. From now on there is only one place I’ll go moving forward.
Even specialty items. The owner will work with you and your project. I am very pleased with Kelly custom Instruments and I would recommend them to anyone.
