Taste of the Windy City

Gyros… mmmmm…their Tzatziki sauce has a weird texture to me but other than that their gyros are amazing. Their building could use a dehumidifier or something though. The air is crazy thick and greasy in there.

Loved this place when we lived in Little Chute. Need to try windy city burger my husbands favorite. As a Chicago native I know what Italian beef should taste like and believe me, you wont be disappointed. Hi Moe and crew. Myron & Marie Bond

I decided to try Taste of the Windy City because I like to try local places when I am traveling. I have been craving a gyro for a while and have not had the chance to go to my local favorite gyro place. I read the reviews here and thought I would give it a try.
When I walked in, there was a guy behind the counter and another in the dining room. They both noticed me at the same time. I placed my order for a gyro, fries and drink. When I got the gyro I was surprised to find the tzatziki sauce already on the gyro. I have been to a bunch of gyro places and I have never had the sauce on the gyro already. It has always come on the side. Since most places put to much gyro meat on the gyro to begin with I generally eat some before I make it into a sandwich. This was messy and difficult to do with all the sauce on there.
If I go back I will ask for the sauce on the side.
The other thing that was a bit odd was the kids and I mean little kids (4 – 6 years old maybe) running around the kitchen area. This area is open to the dinning area so it was distracting.

We Had the gyro and polish sausage. Both were very good. Would stop again if in this area again.

I don’t honestly see what all everyone sees about this place that is so amazing? My gyro was alright, but no better than the standard fast food fare. I’ve had much better gyros. My wife’s Chicago hotdog was equally disappointing. Certainly something that we could have simply made at home.
I honestly found it was quite pricey for what it was. If they threw in a side of something, maybe I could justify the price. While different than the typical fast food, the higher price isn’t worth it.

The best gyro I have ever had. Delicious and a large portion. My boys got hamburgers which were pretty typical. The burgers were overpriced to me. I wanted to give this 4 stars because of the burgers, but the gyros were so delicious they made me stay with 5 stars.

Had an Italian beef with hot peppers and Au jus on the side with fries. Really good beef and fries were very good too. Restaurant was clean and staff was friendly. I will return and won’t hesitate to recommend to others.

Taste of the Windy City has the best Italian beef sandwich north of Chicago! The Italian beef is mouth-​watering and I love their cheese fries. I’ve heard great things about the Chicago Dogs and their Hamburgers.

We order take out from here quite a bit. We love the Italian beef dipped with hot peppers the Chicago style got dog and the gyros are all phenomenal! Love this place lots! The service is also very good.

Growing up in Chicago, this place really does serve a taste of a true Windy City hot dog.

As advertised, this place really does capture the flavor of Chicago dog and burger joints. Good Chicago dogs are hard to find north of Chi-​town, so I was thrilled when I found out about Taste of the Windy City. Favorites on the menu: Chicago Dog, Gyro, and the Gyro Burger (bring your appetite for that one, it’s a beast!).

The Windy City has awesome food. It’s fast and affordable. The windy city burger is easily their best item. A giant burger topped w/​fresh gyro meat right off the rotating Kabob. Then Fresh veggies, onion, tomato, and lettuce. Topped off w/​delicious Cucumber sauce. They don’t spare any expense on the bun either. Which can make or break a sandwhich. The rest of the food is carefully put together as well. It never fails to impress.
On a side note, the cicero dog is killer hangover food!

Consistently ridiculously delicious. (Was my main food source while renovating my home). If you want something that’s good, fresh, as well as fast, this is the place. There’s even a couple menu options that are moderately healthy.
