My mama sent me here to pick up her to-go order, as we’ve done several times. I pass by this place on my way to her house. We ordered a spicy dynamite roll and an order of their crab cakes. The crab cake was burned and they put some sauce all over the sushi roll that has never been on there before. My mama called to inform them. They argued her down and questioned her like she was lying. Then the lady said that the chef decided to do something different. She then told my mom she should freeze the food and bring it all the way back, like she didn’t believe her. My mama lives several towns away. I have never heard of a restaurant treating a customer so poorly. Needless to say, they lost a good customer today. We will not patronize them again. There are many choices out there. We prefer to do business with people who care about and respect their customers.

*sigh* I ordered a MIXED vegetable tempura roll with teriyaki on the side. My roll consisted of tempura coated onions BKA onion rings with a few carrots in it. Also the teriyaki sauce was thick and sour. I mean why bother if you’re going to produce little to no effort?

The last time I went to Kampai at Stonecrest, the food was not great. Our chef was HIGHLY intoxicated and rude. He didn’t bring a lighter so he decided to cook without fire(which was odd considering this is a hibachi restaurant). He cursed at two customers out of anger, dropped half of the food on our table instead of the plate, and under-cooked pretty much everything including the chicken. He tripped over his own feet, asked us the same question over and over with slurred speech and told us not to waste the food he’d cooked(which was disgusting). Even after other customers left the restaurant without eating the food, there wasn’t even a bill adjustment. Highly disappointed after tonight.

My family and I waited 10 minutes at the hostess table before we were even acknowledged. Once acknowledged, we were told someone would me right with us. Needless to say, that never happened so we left. I can’t even comment on the food because we never got that far since the customer service was so awful.

OVERPRICED. SAVEYOURMONEY. This is not the experience that you think it is just because its hibachi. The restaurant was not that crowded but we waited… and waited… and waited for our chef. I finally asked the server if he could start cooking ! He said«.he’s coming.». we still waited then he finally shows up. He squirted soooo much oil during the preparation; way more than other establishments… We all gave each other the stiff one eye and asked him if at all. possible, please, no more oil. The taste of the entrée was sub par. I was so mad that I paid $ 25 for this mess. Oily, over peppered rice, with the sliverest of all slivered«vegetables», boulders of non flavorful chicken. and these horrific vegetables: mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli, red pepper. Ugh. I was hot. Try TOKYO in Conyers. Edwards Drive, half the price, but WAYYYYYYY more flavorful and correctly prepared.

Please do not waste your money. The worst«Japanese» restaurant. I am at a loss for words to tell you how awful the food was and expensive!!! I am giving them one star too many!!! I feel zero or no stars should be an option on Unilocal

Before I start my rant. Just know. Save your money. Go to the Thai restaurant across the lot near the Zaxybs. I ordered a vegetable fried rice. You’d think that includes vegetables. But NOPE. NOTHERE. it includes three types of onions and shreds of carrots. For $ 9 I called the next day to complain. Because when I picked up my food they were closing. The lady who claimed to be the manager ARGUED, and HUNG the phone in my face twice. All I wanted was my $ 9 back but instead I was screamed at and a accused of trying to get over on $ 9. Save your money and your time and stay far away from this place. And FYI the guy making sushi does not wear gloves.

The food was subpar and the service was worse. The sushi chef was on the phone, and was sitting on a stool in the corner while we waited to get served. When the waiter took our order he had difficulty understanding what we wanted and ended up messing up the drink order. To compound the issue he never came back to check on us for us to tell him the drink was wrong. We let it go and finished our meals empty water glasses and all. When we finally flagged him down for our check and gave him a 10% tip for the sub par service, he stopped us as we stood up from the table and said it was not enough. He then proceeded to badger us in front of the other guests saying that the tip was not enough and that he would have to pay his hostess of of his own pocket. After begrudgingly giving into an extra 5 dollars, tip he continued to complain to the hosts so was pleading for him to let it go. If you are looking to be held up for a tip that the waiter feels he deserves after he’s literally done nothing to meet even average service then this is the place for you. Needless to say I’ll never be going back and advise others not to either.

The whole experience was one bad thing after another. The wait person was missing for long periods of time, the food was not good, and there was yelling and more yelling I could hear from the kitchen area. I’m not sure what was going on with the kitchen crew but it was not good. I definitely will never set foot in this place again. The one good thing was a friendly sushi chef who was working hard to get me what I wanted.

I don’t care for the hibachi. But the sushi is amazing & fresh. Love sitting at the sushi bar. I’m usually eating sushi here at least once a week. Lol!

This is by far the worst Japanese restaurant in the state of Georgia. I kid you not! It took 25 minutes for our drinks to be brought out. The plate in my place setting was dirty. Wtf? I should have left right then & there. Fried rice was 1.95 extra? Who does that?! Clearly my 2ndREDFLAG! The fried rice was not fully cooked. Half cooked rice is just not enjoyable. Apparently we got a new cook. He was not friendly at all. He didn’t even attempt to entertain the table. Most hibachi chefs crack corny jokes. You couldn’t buy a joke from this guy. He burnt my friend’s scallops, my salmon was over cooked and he ran out of vegetables to serve everyone at the table. If this restaurant comes up in your quest for hibachi KEEPSEARCHING! ITISNOTWORTHYOURTIME&YOUWILLBEDISAPPOINTED. ***you’ve been warned***

Awful, the waiters kept serving alcohol(strong liquor) to very drunk guests, burnt a small child and the poor kid had egg all over her. Food average but cold and soup made from packet mix. Noone that worked there was Japanese and handled utensils with difficulty including sharp knives. They just want to make money off guests with no conscience of drunk rude objectionable people driving vehicles while badly drunk

The reviews for this place were on point. I would have chosen somewhere else based from the reviews but the location as convenient. I ordered shrimp and steak from the hibachi. Very rarely do I not eat the salad that comes with hibachi if ever. Welll this was a rarity in which I did not, the soggy lettuce had some ginger and watery dressing thrown on there that was not tast. I noticed my daughter didn’t eat it either, which also is not normal for her. The soup was good. Then comes the chef with the fried rice they charge extra for! Well save your money, all it is is rice thrown on the grill add in some egg and soy sauce. No vegetables or anything in there. Just get the white rice and add your own soy sauce or the brown sauce they give you. The vegatables were good and varied. They included broccoli which was different and tasty. The shrimp and steak were okay. I would not go again nor recommend unless you go for the reason I did, convenience. The show was mediocreand service was, too. Overall disappointing and expensive $ 24 especially for the quality. Fellow Unilocalers nailed this in the reviews!

Had an early Father’s Day dinner with the family and wow! Wow in a not so good way… First off we had a party of 8, maybe 9 and with 7 of us there we still weren’t allowed to sit down… Okay fine. Then we got seated and ordered, and all was fine until chef had every square inch of grill in flames which caused my 8 year old son to jump back about 3 feet retreating toward the door, caused the ice in our cups to melt and for us 40 something ladies a mini hot flash where layers of clothes had to be removed. Towering inferno!!! REALLY??? Then as we prepared to leave, the hijinks are JUST starting at the table next to us and suddenly we see a gigantic flame and milliseconds later the flame spreads onto the serving table and then onto a woman, quickly engulfing her shirt, her arm and possibly her hair. I later found out that she was pregnant and now know why her insticts went against our cries to drop to the floor and roll; she did however get her shirt off as she ran out into the restaurant/sushi bar area. That couldn’t have been a welcoming site for anyone waiting on a table… Anyway — I sincerely pray that the stress of the situation doesn’t affect her unborn child and that the burns were only topical or singes. So in a nutshell, I think the mega-flames should be a thing of the past. I never would have guessed that the Hibachi acrobatics and circus show would have resulted in a real-life ring of fire! #hibachi-epic-fail #landandseameetsfireextinguisher #trainingtrainingtraining

So we came for an early Father’s Day dinner because my kids are leaving in the morning for the week. As the Hibachi chef was doing his show he put WAY too much oil on the grill and the fire was WAAAAY too big and hot! We ate and then as we are preparing to leave the table next to us went up in flames and a lady was covered in fire!!! Luckily everyone moved fast and she ended up being ok. Thank God but what added salt to the injury was when the paramedics came he informed us that they JUST burned a 2yrs. old baby the week before. Beware!!! I give them NOSTARS!!! Careless and that’s worse than bad food and service.

They just failed their health inspection in April 2015. Score was 53. Previous two scores were in the low 70s. This place(and the one in Snellville) can’t seem to get their acts together smh.

This was my first time at Kampai. A friend of mine and I like meeting at Japanese restaurants for lunch on the weekends so we picked this one since it was near her house in Conyers. One thing we did not expect was paying dinner prices at lunch on a Saturday so it was an expensive lunch. The food was very good and worth ever penny spent. She ordered the Salmon and I had the filet and shrimp with fried rice. The sushi was good too. I will be back.

Kampai is located near Stonecrest Mall. There is a large sign over their front doors so you can’t miss it. This place was utterly disappointing. I guess I wanted to give it a second chance. Also, it’s conveniently located near my job. You walk in and get a mix of «typical hibachi style restaurant» and outdated décor. The service was okay. There’s not too much else to say about that. It was nothing exceptional or above and beyond. I got one of the express lunch boxes with Yakiniku Beef, gyoza dumplings, pickled cucumber, 6pc. California roll, edamame. The beef was very overcooked and marinated in a super sugary, starchy teriyaki sauce. The texture of the beef was just really dry and tough. I swear the dumplings are the same ones you buy frozen at the Asian farmer’s market. They didn’t give me the pickled cucumber, but instead I got some tempura deep fried carrots and onions? My co-worker who went with me said that her fish was overcooked as well. I don’t know. This place just did not cut it for me. Nothing was appetizing. I feel like I could have cooked a way better meal at home with half the skill. This was my second time here, because I wanted to give the place another chance; but after this time, I will definitely not be returning.

Went here for lunch with a friend not knowing what to expect and I must say for a store front restaurant on mall parkway it’s pretty nice. The parking lot is a bit small but clean. The inside is a bit dim(for afternoon) but surprisingly very comfortable. The lunch specials are average priced for asian food and the Hibachi is decently priced I believe it started at $ 13.50. We didn’t do the hibachi, but I was able to see some of the rooms which they have set up in a private setting with some type of cloth covering the doors. It looked like something I’d want to do with my hubby not my girlfriend lol. The glass behind the bar where all the alcohol bottles sit is very dirty for a restaurant! That I did notice twice as I stopped in here once before very briefly for my same friend to pick up a order she had put in. So both times the whole mirror was dirty. Not talking a small mirror, this mirror spans almost the whole back wall. They seriously need to clean it. I ordered misu soup which I never had before so I have nothing to compare it to but I didn’t like it, it was a bit salty and had perfectly squared big chicken chunks in it. as if it was artificial or mechanically processed meat. I also had green tea the server gave me my own pot of tea which I liked. I ordered a very fried dish like a trio, fried crab meat, shrimp and squid. I knew it would be a fried dish, but it had way too much batter on it and was kind of greasy. I regretted ordering it as soon as I looked at it but hey you never know if something is good until you try it, right? I don’t eat very heavy so I was unable to finish it, my friend ordered rice and they wasn’t stingy at all! It was enough for three people and was pretty good! Overall I did like it here, the server was nice, food was prompt and I’d like to try the hibachi out. All in all it wasn’t bad I really enjoyed the ambiance(besides the dirty mirror lol) I’d more than likely return.

3.5÷4 A sushi + habachi restaurant. The staff is friendly. The restaurant and its bathroom is clean and organized. The parking can be a bit difficult because they share a small parking lot with many stores. It is obvious that this place heavily favors the habachi foods as their are many more tables for it. The prices are bit pricey but given its location, its understandable. The rolls are good and its fairly portioned. They have some extravagant rolls that I have not tried as the range from $ 17 – 20. The edamamie is well cooked and season however its not worth the price. The oodong and salad are good. The chirachi(sashmi over a bowl of rice) is fresh and they give you quite a bit of raw fish. The tempera is mieh as its a bit batter heavy and the oil used doesn’t taste fresh. The fried rice is really good and comes with a generous portion. Overall its a decent Japanese restaurant. Cheers! Note: They are not so accomedating if you want to have your own tempera pairings for the same price or want an ingredient removed.
