we had a party of 6 people with 3 separate checks and although the food and service were good, they neglect to inform the public on their menus that gratuity is automatically added in with a certain amount of people… luckily we weren’t too inebriated from the margaritas to notice that the server had calculated his own gratuity on all 3 checks, but watched as we started to put more money on the table for another tip!!! thank god we didn’t…

Drinks are great, food is great but what pushes this place over the top for me is the customer service. I’ve had such a great time just talking to the staff and it makes the experience that much better!

WOW… so seen the reviews online and decided to stop by for late lunch. What a mistake! Start with the food… Under whelmed on the seasoning… food is bland and needs salt. But had to get that myself as the bartender was too busy socializing with co workers. Ordered a large margarita… pretty good. Grande nachos and burrito grande. Both were bland but came out hot. Half way through me meal, server«Lesley» asked me to cash out. I guess her shift was ending. However, 15 minutes later, she was in the bar socializing with another associate. Looked like her coverage… young male with earrings. The issue was the bar was dead with exception of GM sitting there drinking at the bar… WTF? Young bartender never came over and offered service again after Lesley cashed me out. I am staying in hotel next door and wanted to sit and have a few more drinks. He kept giving attitude and was obviously ignoring me. Blew my mind as I already spent $ 40 and was going to stay, watch game and drink some more. Here’s the crazy part. I couldn’t understand the level of service until I realized that the restaurant manager was actually sitting at the bar getting smashed… clearly he was on the clock because he kept going back into the kitchen. Then would come out, make himself a shot and another beer. Associates were also observing this and providing him drinks. I would think this is a huge liability on the owners part to allow this behavior to take place. I’ve never seen this in a place of business where someone who is in charge of others subject themselves to getting drunk at the workplace. The overall attitude of the place was very«who cares». Will never return to this ridiculousness. CC

I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night. Service was quick and easy since there weren’t many other patrons. Food was OK. Margarita was awesome. Our waiter was extremely friendly(wish I could remember his name). I’ll be back!

Dont go on Sunday if you want to watch the Falcon game. I’m only giving them 2 stars because on game day, they were only showing the Falcon game at the bar. I mean come on! We are in Atlanta! Me and a couple of other guests all requested that the TV be turned to the Falcon game, but the restaurant insisted that we move to the bar area… WTH…why are we forced to watch the St. Louis game when we are in Atlanta, Ga?(They claim someone requested to watch STL) I’m assuming they wanted to push bar sales. This is bad business on a Sunday! The food and drinks were good, I just wish we could have watched some good Home team football without having to relocate our whole party to the bar.

I stopped in to grab a to go order for my Beau and I. I wanted wings so I decided to try their Lemon Pepper Wings for the first time. I was NOT pleased!!! There was barely any lemon pepper on them. I doubt that I order them again. My Beau’s order consisted of the Don Tello’s Dip and a Burger. That dip is sooooo good! It’s Queso with grilled shrimp, chicken, and steak in it. It’s one of my favorite things on their menu. The burger looked good and he said it tasted good. It was big too! It had bacon on it and usually comes with avocado on it but I ordered it without because he doesn’t like it. All in all his food was better than mine. I guess I will just stick to my usual menu choices since the wings were a bust. I gave it 3 stars only because I’ve been here before and had a better experience. They really need to do better with the wings. It’s hard to mess up chicken… smh

The drinks were good. The guacamole was decent… the workers… not so much! As soon as we walked in, the hostess(who was sitting at a table) rolled her eyes, then turned to another employee and said«im bout to go home«. She then proceeds to get up and greet us. As she attempts to seat us, every table she brought us to still had plates and cups on the table. There were dirty tables everywhere and hardly any customers in there. If it’s so empty, why are the tables and booths dirty? We finally get seated and I notice another employee laying down in the booth asleep. I get it if she was on break but it’s still unprofessional! ESPECIALLY when the place is dirty! Thankfully the margaritas and guacamole were good, but I won’t be rushing back here.

The only restaurant in the Stonecrest Mall area that was able to accommodate a party of 19 on such a short notice. For that reason alone, I’m pleased. We arrived and expected to wait 30 minutes or more, but we were seated within 10 minutes. Of the 19 guests, we had three toddlers; the establishment is kid friendly. None of my party had been here before and was suprised with the level of customer service we received. Our waiter was the best. He kept the drinks on full, brought us our food in a timely manner and was very calm and collected when handling us. On to the main course: So, I had the Nacho Grande with shrimp, steak, and chicken. The toppings also included sauteed onions, peppers, cheese sauce and I got a side of sour cream and lettuce. Some of my other guests had the shrimp and steak chimichanga, chicken/steak quesadilla, Grande burrito, etc; which they were all satisfied with. Also, try the fully loaded baked potato. It came with peppers, onions, spinach and a cheese sauce that made this one of the best baked potatoes I’ve had(will try to recreate at home). They also have wings for the people that aren’t so daring when it comes to trying other things. Make sure that you come hungry, they give you nice sized portions. Overall, my crew was happy and full. Good times with the fam. Footnotes: Atmosphere is cool. They have music and if I’m not mistaken a DJ. I think as the evening progrsses, it becomes more of a chill spot. There’s a full bar. So maybe somewhere worth going on date night if you’re on that side of town.

This place was just ok, nothing really stood out. Food was good, but not authentic Mexican by far. The Texas guacamole was outstanding tho. Service was poor, but only because they had our waitress clearly overworked and loaded down with more tables than she could handle. I will probably go back and give it another chance one day

I really like Don Tellos. The atmosphere is laid back, casual and fun during the week. It can get very loud on Fridays and in the evenings when they have a DJ come in to play music. Their drinks are pretty good and strong. Service is always good when I come and I only order their chicken wings, margarita pitchers and Texas guacamole. I know it’s a Mexican restaurant… but their actual Mexican food is subpar I only had it once on my numerous visits here and I wasn’t thrilled. I do love their wings though, they are big and fried crispy like I like them. So overall I will still come here for my fix of chicken wings, guac, and margaritas!

Good food and prices… it’s a Tex-Mex so try not to come here with a taste for authentic Mexican dishes… the Shrimp Fajitas and the guacamole salad were awesome… I cleaned my plate… service was great and the place was clean. we came here for an early lunch during the week so it wasn’t crowded… I heard it’s live at night and on the weekends.

I don’t know what they told yall. But this is not Mexican food lol. Everything here is border line cafeteria food. Even the cheese dip taste like plastic. The restaurant version of Taco Bell.

The service is great! I had to get my food sent back because my chicken wasn’t done! When they brought it back! It was A1! The salsa was a little different from what I’m used to, but it was good. Large portions! I like! Waiter was friendly and so was the management!

I went this past weekend and a few things we didn’t like. It took forever for us to place our order because the one waitress we had was tending to a large party. They seemed to have more cleaning people than waiters/waitresses. We finally had to stop someone to ask if we can get our order in. The food arrived like 10 mins later. The food is ok and the prices are cheap. We never got any refills on our drinks but they gave us our check in record time. Go Figure… My boyfriend and I will not go back to this place. Not the best experience and the food is mediocre.

The service was fast… And then gone. Camarones Mexicana should have gone with tortillas. Nobody to ask! Food was mediocre to bad. Beans look like glop. Salsa was from a bottle. I won’t be returning.

I enjoy the casual atmosphere that is Don Tellos. I’ve visited the Dogwood Circle in Conyers and the location near Stonecrest Mall in Lithonia. The service is always amazing! The first visit I ordered the Vallartas. It is a grilled combination if shrimp, fish, scallops, and pineapple served in half a pineapple with rice, beans, guacamole salad with a dollop of sourcream! Effing yum — I’ve ordered this three times and it has been consistently delicious. The service is better at the Lithonia location but I think that my server at dogwoods demeanor was due to him being over 40… and others were younger and more charismatic. That’s not a negative… just an observation. I will definitely go back… The burritos are delicious as well.

I don’t get to come out to the Lithonia/Conyers often unless I’m meeting up with a childhood friend since she works in the area or family since my brother lives over here. Because I was at my brother’s house earlier, we decided to come to Don Tello after being told that the wait at Olive Garden next door would be 1.5 hours!!! So we came to Don Tello and it had plenty of room for us — it was a total of 11 people. We were out to celebrate my SIL’s birthday for lunch. We didn’t get seated right away because my brother wanted a table by the big flat screen tv to get caught up on his football, haha. Coming to a Mexican restaurant, there are no Mexicans or anyone who is Latino! I’m thinking this is more Tex Mex food. Of course there is if you see chicken wings and fries on the menu! Since we had several young kids with us, it is definitely a kid friendly environment, the kids were coloring and drawing while waiting for the food. What I love about Mexican restaurants is the complimentary chips and dips! It was yummy. I honestly could’ve not order anything and be full. I just ordered the guacamole salad which was so good! It made me want to learn to make guacamole, no kidding. Other dishes ordered were Speedy Gonzales, Steak nachos, chicken nachoes, beans and rice, chicken wings and fries. Everyone loved their dishes. The waitress was cute and friendly, she tried her best to accommodate us but was forgetful at times but since she’s so sweet, I let that sly, she always had a smile on her face and was not rude at all. I would give the restaurant a solid 3.5 out of 5.

Wowee… There is a lot of food on these plates; however, I wasn’t blown away by it. When you order guacamole, you can make it yourself at the table or the server can make it for you. Well, we opted for our server to make it for us and we thought he was going to make it in front of us(that’s what the menu says) but he actually made it in the kitchen. AND… he added way too much lime so it was underwhelming. Aside from that, the atmosphere is nice and the food is presented well and at a good temperature. I just don’t know if this place will be on my list to go back to.
