Since starting in Peoria in 1979, the company has expanded to include locations in Litchfield Park, Tatum Ranch, Surprise and Goodyear. Community service comes naturally to all Wilhelm employees no matter which location is involved.

Community involvement has always been a part of the Wilhelm tradition. To date, we are involved in our local neighborhoods supporting groups such as Westside Food Bank, Cave Creek Museum, International Rotary, Luke Air Force Base, American Cancer Society and local schools. Charley and Thomas Gyder have been very active in the revitalization of the downtown area of Peoria.

Wilhelm Automotive, a family owned and operated auto repair company, has joined forces with The Hybrid Shop. Hybrid battery replacement, conditioning and hybrid repair services by certified hybrid mechanics for all makes and models including Toyota Prius, Highlander and Camry; Honda Accord, Insight and Civic; Ford Escape, Lexus and more for the greater Litchfield Park area

Manager

Jim Swift is the manager of our Litchfield Park Auto Repair Center. Jim has been in the automotive business for more than 30 years and is Master Certified in automotive repair. He also holds a certification in customer service and takes great pride in making sure all of the customer’s at the Litchfield Park branch are 100% satisfied with their experience at Wilhelm. He greatly enjoys helping customers and advising them in the best way to care for their cars. When not working, Jim likes spending time on the lake or in front of a barbecue.

Here’s the KUDOS:
I had no idea I left my wallet in the car. Couldn’t find it anywhere the next day at home. When I picked up the car the next day, there it was, lying in plain view in driver’s seat. Intact. Thanks!
Here’s the BAD:
1. They have over 900 reviews on their website. ALL of them are 4 and 5 stars. How does that happen? Because they DON’T post negative reviews. They did NOT post mine. I don’t think that is a fair representation of their ACTUAL reviews.
2. Car had AC repaired in 2014 and again in 2015. Car driven less than 3,400 miles
a year. What kind of parts are you using that an AC breaks every year? 3,400
miles! Warrantee missed by 2 months. Another $ 1212 to refix for another year?
Then the DAY AFTER my visit the SERPENTINE Belt completely SHREDS leaving me on
the side of the road. That was replaced by Wilhelm on March 9th 2015 for $ 163.00
Invoice 9 097 396 Cave Creek. Mileage was 48,343. Belt failed at 51, xxx??? Again,
why are parts failing so fast? This is a Low mile Garaged car. Not even left out in the hot sun. I bought a 3 year belt at Autozone. I have heard about your business on Click and Clack Radio. You are supposed to be top notch. This should have been taken care of. Disappointed.

«Crooks» stay away from these criminals. Had my truck towed for transmission problems. They quoted me $ 4800 for a new transmission (of course I needed a new transmission) I called the ford dealer and over the phone they quoted me $ 3800 for a new transmission. I call Wilhelm back and they said «hmm that’s strange» so I told them not to touch my truck and they said well we already took it apart and charged me $ 380 for what they have already done. The new shop said it was never opened at all because it had the original dipstick plug in it from the factory. Please do not go to this shop they will rip you off promise! Buyer beware.

Goes above and beyond!!! The Wilhelm team is an outstanding crew. I took my truck in for service on a Friday and it was ready for pickup on Monday. I went to the office to settle the bill and asked if they can just leave it parked outside so that my husband and I can come back later in the evening to pick it up and drop off a rental car. Jerry offered to actually drive my vehicle to my home and drop it off for me. Who does that!!! It has been nothing less than outstanding customer service with this team… each and every time I’ve been to their shop. A friend of mine recommended this shop to last year and I can honestly say that my experiences (as well as my husband’s) has been nothing short of excellent. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Joe, Jim, and Jerry for taking care of the Byrd Fam!!!

AC quit working… outside temps in the triple digits… need to get this fixed NOW. I called in the morning to see if I needed an appointment, and was told that if I could leave it with them, they’d be able to check it out that day. They determined that the AC system was low on coolant and needed servicing. I okayed the work, and was told that they’d not noticed any leaks, and they «hoped» that this would fix the problem, but that they wouldn’t know for absolute sure until they finished the job. They called to tell me that the service was done, but that during the test drive the AC, which was blowing cold, had reverted to intermittent, so it needed more diagnostic work. I okayed that additional charge. A couple of hours later they called and said that they’d pretty much exhausted their bag of tricks trying to diagnose (an intermittent problem), and that I’d have to take it to the Mercedes dealer because they had the specialized equipment necessary for further diagnostics. Not what I wanted to hear, but I can handle the truth. Turns out that they didn’t charge me for the additional diagnostic work (a nice surprise), AND, best of all, after driving it for a while, the AC seems to be working just fine!

The staff are friendly and honest. It’s difficult to find an auto repair shop that works with hybrid vehicles especially one that is affordable. I would recommend making an appointment, they are busy because they are good at what they do!

Friendly, affordable, and honest… are we still talking about mechanics?! Yup. These guys are legit, could have taken me for a wad of cash for a full AC job, but ended up only needing a line flush and recharge. I will be going back. They even shuttled me to/​from the house while the repair work was being done.

I have been going to Wilhelm for almost 7 years now. They are reliable, trustworthy and honest. I don’t think I would trust my car with anyone else. The manager, Jim, is as good as it gets, and I hope the owners realize what an excellent person they have running their front office.

It is difficult today to find genuine honest people to work on your vehicle but these folks are.
I brought in my 2010 Chevy Equinox as a service light came on. The had the issue diagnosed within an hour and it turned out is was a Chevy «Non Recall Issue» that I should have been informed of by GM but never received any notification from GM. They printed out a copy of the notification, and suggested I contact GM as it might be covered. I picked the vehile up and to my surprise there was no bill due from Wilhelm, not even a charge for the diagnostic! The issue was covered under GM warranty extension for the problem and was done by GM at no charge but Wilhelm could have ignored the information they had and charged my $ 1200 or so for the new timing chain and fuel pump and I would have been none the wiser.
I highly recomend Wilhelm Automotive.

I was very pleased with my service this time. This particular Wilhelm Garage has a new manager (as far as I can tell). Chris has moved to corporate, and while I liked him and thought he was a good guy, there’s no doubt that we had a few issues with Wilhelm’s service when he was there, and after the last debacle with our overheating issue, we considered not returning. However, since that time I have taken this particular vehicle back a few times, and each experience has been positive. We had Wilhelm take the wheel locks off the car, and while doing so, they broke the cap on the rim. They could have easily failed to inform us, but they took responsibility and ordered a new cap. Chris was also very helpful in referring us to someone who could do transmission work that they couldn’t do at the shop. Our last visit was just as positive. We had a leak in the transmission, and it was a seal that Wilhelms could fix. I was very grateful for the quick service and reasonable price – two luxuries not often experienced while servicing a car in general. Most important, however, is that while I was waiting for the car, some apparent «big whigs» in the company visited the store and were talking to the new manager (can’t recall his name). I overheard him say that he isn’t in business to gouge his customers… that he is just trying to make a living and provide his customers with the best service possible at the best price. I have to say, I didn’t think anyone in the auto repair industry possessed that degree of integrity. My experience has ALWAYS been being gouged and taken advantage of. That comment from him alone will ensure that I continue taking my vehicle to Wilhelms for the foreseeable future.

On Christmas Eve my car decided it didn’t want to start any longer. My mom had a good experience and suggested Wilhelm Auto so I had my car towed over there. Within hours I got a call from their manager Chris asking my approval on a charge to diagnose the car. Of course I said yes. He said he’d call back in an hour with more info.
After an hour Chris called back with details of what they thought was the issue. He very carefully explained everything and gave me a total to fix it. The charges were VERY reasonable even with the diagnoses. I gave him my approval and off to work they went on my car.
I was beyond stressed considering I’m a single mom with twins boy. I was afraid the charges were going to be outrageous. They were under $ 400. You can even buy a coupon, which I just did.
Anyone that has had a bad experience here must be hard to please or are purposely posting negative reviews to make this company look bad. I will ONLY go to this place of business for car repairs.
