Low cost vaccines. Clean and friendly.

I regret to have to write a bad review for this low cost vet clinic. They do provide much needed services for low income pet owners. My family has taken our two dogs here three times. We got our youngest dog neutered and pulled his baby teeth that never came out. We also took both dogs for a check up and got their heart worm medicine here.
The last time was the experience that makes us not want to return. We got our older dog’s teeth cleaned here. At the pre-​cleaning checkup, the vet said that they wouldn’t need to take out any of his teeth. It took a few weeks to schedule the cleaning, but I don’t think his teeth substantially worsened after the checkup. We signed the form saying that they could pull teeth if necessary, but we didn’t think he would need any teeth pulled in reliance on the vet at the checkup. We left him for the cleaning and got a call later in the afternoon that they pulled four teeth. They never called to ask if this was ok or even that they were going to do this, they just did it. This upset me so much. They should have called before pulling his teeth and consulted us to the severity and any preventive measures besides pulling them. Now, he has trouble eating.
The vet we saw is very young and I feel she doesn’t have a lot of experience. I wasn’t confident in her treatment advice during the regular checkups. While we appreciate it is so affordable here, I would be hesitant to come here for serious issues. Routine matters may be ok here.
Whatever you do, DO NOT SIGN the form saying that they could pull teeth if necessary. Write on the form to call you before they pull teeth, especially if they said that they don’t need to pull any.

Since it was getting to be that time to get my 9month old puppy neutered, I called my vet to get a quote on what it would cost. I was definitely not impressed with what they told me (something along the lines of «it starts at $ 272 and only goes up from there once we factor in pain packages, blood work, actual visit cost and other things»). I was looking at paying upwards of $ 370 to neuter a puppy weighing in around 45 pounds. Ridiculous!
So I called this clinic one day and got a very nice young lady on the phone. She was able to tell me the exact price right on the phone and I got my boy scheduled a few weeks later.
She quoted me $ 101 on the phone and that is the total that I paid upon picking him up after the procedure. No hidden costs! I love that.
I had drop off between 7 – 7:30am so it was an early morning for us to get there on time, especially since it’s no water after 6am. I filled out his surgical paperwork ahead of time and brought his rabies certificate so check in was a breeze. Dropped him off and left. The place was clean and seemed to be in good order.
Pickup was between 2:30−3pm. We came and got him, he was quite out of it, but in good shape and has been in a normal state of affairs since we got home. The pain medication was also sent home with us and included in what we paid, no extra fee.
Breakdown of costs in 2015:
$ 75 — Neuter for dog under 50 pounds
$ 24 — optional fee for IV fluids during surgery
$ 2 — Medical waste fee
$ 10 — optional fee if you want a cone (I didn’t get this since we didn’t need one)
I would come here again in the future, as spaying/​neutering is what they do here day in and day out. They know what they are doing! They send you home with instructions on aftercare for your dog and they talk through it with you before you leave.
The only thing that did PISS me off was the fact that he crapped himself during the stay and they left it all over his furry bum! I was not happy about having to scrub my poor guy’s rear off when we got home, especially since he was in a little pain and I just wanted him to rest. Seriously… if a dog has an accident like that while out of it, you would think someone would be nice enough to not let a dog sit in his crap for hours. I could tell he was upset about that being on him. That knocked off a star for this place.
Another thing to note: if you have an older dog and are looking for the 3 yr rabies vaccine, they will do it for $ 35. Very good price! I believe they have specific vaccine dates set up once or twice a month.

This was the worst experience that I’ve had with a business in a long time. The staff was incredibly unprofessional. I understand that the clinic is a low-​cost operation, but I don’t think that excuses the staff’s complete lack of knowledge towards veterinary medicine. Quite honestly, I feel bad for having left my pet in their care. I’m lucky to have her back.
I’d strongly advise anyone that’s considering taking their pet to this clinic to visit another business in the area. On every major characteristic that you look for in a veterinary clinic (customer service, medical knowledge, professional staff), this business misses the mark horribly. Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra at another place for the sake of your pet.

I needed to get my 2 year old cat Lilly spayed (she just had kittens a little over two months ago. Never again!) and was calling every low cost place I came across on the internet. A couple places that I called I couldn’t get a hold of anyone and that was calling back multiple times for days. Craziness. I finally came across this clinic on the spay Illinois page. I wrote them an email because I was at work at the time. They called me back a few hours later, answered all my questions, and even booked an appointment the next day. It was such a relief to find an affordable place so quick and the staff was very friendly. I would give this full stars but for me it’s a half hour drive there.

Very affordable and convenient hours and location. The morning drop off went smoothly and the staff was pleasant. The afternoon pickup was slightly different experience. One staffer who was not the receptionist was super nice, made jokes etc, but the pregnant office worker who actually went to get my cat, wasn’t friendly at all, and just handed me the papers without any explanation. I had to ask things like…“when do I give her the medicine? how should I expect her to act tonight? etc”.
A couple days later, I did have to call back because I thought there might be a problem with my cat, and the middle aged woman who works mornings, was so understanding, and did not make me feel silly for being concerned.
I’ll definitely go back for vaccinations and recommend to friends and family, mostly due to the low prices and great location.

The positives: the price, it’s great for a low cost clinic for all shots, spaying, and microchipping
The Cons: where to start? I just got home and I couldn’t stop thinking about my concerns. First, the place is an absolute zoo during check-​in in the morning, when I had made the apt. I had asked for spaying and microchipping, so when I picked her up I was surprised to find out they didn’t microchip her because I didn’t request it again during the drop off… I said I had specifically told them that when I called, so I didn’t know I needed to state it again. The good news is they microchipped her then.
Other concerns, the blonde working the front is AWFUL!!! She clearly hates dealing with people and doesn’t seem to love animals either. She seemed irritated with every customer and the other desk worker. I was there waiting when several people were picking up their animals, you could tell people were nervous and wanted to care for their animals correctly and she was very short, uncaring, and actually rude to most of them.
The final straw was when my dog came out the girl said, she probably needs to go potty (me thinking why didn’t you let her out then?), so as I am waiting for my microchipping information she pooped on the carpet (she does not normally do this), I was surprised and asked the blonde worker for something to cleaned it up, she was BEYOND disgusted, put some paper towels and a small trash bag and said there is a trash outside. Thank god for a nice man waiting for his dog in there for holding my pup while I cleaned it up, I have no problem cleaning up after her, but the rudeness was not needed.
Bottom line, if you are on a budget go here. It’s a no frills, you won’t be told how your animal is doing and you will not talk to a vet, but if price is key this is your place. I personally will not be going back myself.

What a great vet clinic, i understand they are part of Spay Illinois, spay was $ 70.00 plus $ 24.00 if you want iv sedation, a great price for people on limited income, the only reason i gave it 4 stars, was i never talked to or saw a vet, so can’t speak to that, but i will be back, vaccinations are very reasonable and staff was pleasant.

Wow every pet owners should come here. It is a pretty small vet clinic but they have awesome staff and really low price.
Had my puppy’s routine exam for $ 15, Heartworm test for $ 22, Microchip for $ 10 (It was one day special. Normally $ 25)
Heartworm pills were cheaper than 1 800 pet meds.
They have various specials and they are not a walk in clinic (I think only 1 day a week is walk in) so you should definately check their website for schedule and specials.
It was so worth driving 40 minutes!

The clinic did great with my dog. I’m very pleased with that… However, the blonde receptionist with the tattoo on her wrist is not very friendly and could use some lessons on smiling and not acting like the customer is a bother when asking a question. Other than her, we were pleased with the clinic.

My senior dog was supposed to have dental work done. She was to be at the clinic between 7 – 8 a.m. and to be picked up at 4:30. I got a call at 1:00 saying my dog was fine but the clinic got delayed and she hadn’t had her surgery yet so pick her up closer to 5 p.m. About an hour and a half later I get another call saying an emergency came in they wouldn’t be getting to the dental surgery for my dog. I asked why do they overbook that she wasn’t tended to before this time, have the animals go in so early just to have dogs waiting in their cage all day when they haven’t eaten nor had anything to drink. I was told they don’t overbook they need to medicate the animals early and get them settled. What?! I realize emergencies come up but they were running so late already that it was inexcusable. I went immediately to pick up my senior dog who had been I’m sure shaking in her cage all day long, had been medicated so they said, hadn’t eaten nor had anything to drink in eighteen hours and again I asked about the scheduling. I was told dental work is done at the end of the day, again WHY do the animals have to be there by 8 a.m.?! I asked if my dog had been given water or food once they knew she was not having surgery, Nope! I asked if she had been outside to go to the bathroom, Nope! I was told we don’t take them out to use the bathroom, they usually don’t have to go since they haven’t had anything to eat or drink. I said that is neglectful you have a senior dog who has held her poor bladder all damn day, sure enough the second we got outside she went to the bathroom! My dog slipped through so many cracks while being there I think I’m almost lucky that they didn’t do the surgery, who knows what else would’ve gone wrong in that overbooked, just a number not a precious pet clinic! I will not go back, again I guess you get what you pay for!

I cannot say enough good things about these people. I trust them 100% with my fur children. I have taken both of my babies here numerous times. With both of them being rescues they come worth the usual issues, but my older pug took the cake. I was told by a different vet he would need all of his teeth pulled out and to have pins put in his front legs to straighten them out. Yes, he came from a puppy mill. This was also going to cost me around $ 2500 according to my vet. I started to research a more low cost alternative to having this surgery done. I found Spay Illinois online. When I took him over there to be examined, i was presently surprised! The facility was very clean. It didn’t small like cat pee, and the staff was super helpful. When the vet came in I got a great vibe from her. Low and behold, my dog did not need all his teeth pulled. Only 4 and a dental cleaning for $ 167 including meds!
Needless to say I haven’t ever returned to my old vet. The staff all knows me and my dogs by name, and always go above and beyond in their care.
Smashface, Hayden, and I have referred numerous friends and family to them and will continue to for many years to come.

It s hard to critique a place that is just plain doing the right thing. Their sheer purpose is to offer low cost options to people who otherwise would not be able to afford spaying and neutering as well as other needs such as low cost medications, teeth cleaning and microchipping. Four full stars for that!!!
Areas of Improvement:
1. Please train your staff to be a little nicer. We are leaving our babies with you! The least you can do is say hello to my animal and answer my questions with a smile. AIso I asked about purchasing cat heartworm preventative medication and the front desk person promptly said «cats do not get heartworm» WHAT?!
2. They ask if you will like to pay $ 24 extra dollars for intravenous fluid– so your animal will wake up sooner and be less groggy. How can you say no?
3. They do NOT call you with an update or to tell you how your furry friend is doing.
Yeah! Moments:
1. Nice big parking lot next door to Groomingdales and outside it just says VET CLINIC
2. Not far off the Maple Ave exit.
3. Drop off is between 7 am– 8 am but they were opened before 7 am. (THANK YOU)
4. Post op medication for your animal is included in the price.

This clinic is operated by Spay Illinois, whose mission is to help bring affordable spay/​neuter to all Illinois residents. The Lisle clinic opened in April 2013. I took my female cat here to get spayed for $ 65. The cost includes post-​surgery medication. You have to call to make an appointment and the drop off time is between 7a-​8a and the pickup time is about 400p-​430p. My cat was still asleep, so I had to go later around 530p for the pickup.
They also offer vaccines, which is $ 18 for 1 year. It is required that your pet is current on the vaccine before having the procedure. Vaccine can be given on the same day as the surgery. That’s a pretty good deal considering that the veterinarians in the area charges somewhere between $ 200 – 350 just for cat spaying.
They have a special in February 2014 for Will & Cook county residents:

Limit 2 per household. All surgeries includes pain medications to go home. If your pet weighs over 75 pounds additional charges may apply.
The Feral/​barn Cat Program is $ 40.00 per cat in Lisle and includes the anesthesia, spay/​neuter, rabies vaccine, ear tip and pain medication.
