Horrible customer service. I have been here twice after moving to Lisle and made an appointment two weeks ago for Saturday April 9^th. I was told to go to their new location because it would be opened by then. I go there at my appointment time and they are closed and still under construction. Not a single call letting me know they would have to cancel my appointment.

Love this place! I bring my cat here all the time for a nail trim. They are quick and always get me in when I call. My dad brings his dog here as well (Sydney an Australian shepherd) and she is always happy and looking beautiful. Keep up the good work!

Boarded my 2 dogs and am loving this place! Four walks per day and plants of play time! Come back home to two dogs completely exhausted! That’s how you know they had fun! The owner is awesome and lives close I guess and is very flexible with drop off and pick up! Would def board my dogs there again and try the other services there! Oh and they also gave me all the coupons for being a new client even though I didn’t have them and didn’t have any clue about them. They give you a whole day of boarding dogs for free! Normally they charge $ 25/​dog.

I brought in my 2 puppies for a puppy cut. Very reasonably priced and she did them in 2 hours. I called that day and she was able to accommodate me. She was super sweet to my boys and very pleasant with me as I waited. Am definitely coming back.

We brought our 2 goldens in today for grooming. They recenty had ear treatments and had some oil around their ears that needed to be cleaned. They came home and their ears looked exactly the same. It was evident that no one had cleaned inside or outside of them. Our one dog also has EVERY nail with dried blood on his front right paw. He is elderly and already has trouble walking so this is VERY disturbing. I wouldn’t bring my dogs here EVER again and I advise the community to do the same. When you get your dogs groomed you would like to think they are being pampered NOT tortured!

I saw the Unilocal deal and took advantage of it but when i drop off my sweet lasso poo, she came back super shorter and uneven than I ask for a puppy cut. I was asking leave at least 1 inch but she she can back with barely any hair except her ears. The worst part had no hair on her butt at all and it was all super red. Let’s just said my dog hasn’t needed a hair cut for the past 3 months.

Took my pup here for the first time today, and absolutely loved our experience! The woman who groomed him was excellent! Super friendly and she made sure she was thorough in asking what I was looking for. I just don’t get the negative reviews posted on here about this place, because for the price, it definitely met my expectations! Maybe if you’re unhappy you should be looking to pay more for a groom ya schmucks! I would definitely recommend giving Hand n Paw a try!

Took my Shih Tzu there today for a puppy cut. I just want to cry when I look at her. They did an awful job, it looks like they shaved her head and face and left the cheeks puffy. Everything is uneven, just awful :(

This place is great! Stopped in just to check it out and they were super helpful about explaining the Furminator de-​shedding process they can do when grooming — my dog has short hair but still manages to shed a TON…
Also, they offer «peticures» for dogs with either tips (plastic-​y things that are glued on over your dogs nails) or a quick dry nail polish, both in a good variety of colors. I opted for just a bath and hot pink nail polish for my french bulldog and she looks soooo cute (see pictures).
Will definitely bring her back again, with a Unilocal deal it’s a great value too!

I have a yorkie who needs regular grooms and we usually get a puppy cut for him. I took him here because I bought a deal off of Amazon. The prices are great and out little guy ends up leaving looking like a prince. They go a great job and treat him the way I would. The first time I took him, they did cut one of his nails too short and he bled, but these things happen and they were very apologetic.

Wow, not sure what to say, because our experience was certainly different from most here. Staff was very friendly, and we thought took the time to listen when they asked about the type of cut we were looking for. We have a Cairn Terrier, and like for her to remain on the «shaggy» side, so even showed a picture of her face after a recent groom for reference. Asked that the fur on her ears be kept long, so that it still «cascades» by an inch off the ear. Said the one thing that we DID NOT want was for her to be sheared, with no style to the cut, and under no circumstance under ¾″ on the body. So imagine my surprise when I came and collected my bald dog. Body was cut to 5/​8″, hair on her ears was literally cut at ear level — no fur left to hang over at all.
I was so shocked that I barely complained, tipped, and walked out the door. I was actually much more friendly than I should have been, considering what a disaster this was. I called my husband and said you are not going to believe how bad she looks. Honestly, I really should have said more, but like I said, it was shocking. And at that point, what could they do? You can’t put the fur back on the dog. I just made the comment that she should have been left much longer, and there should have been more style to the cut. At which point the groomer suggested that we take her for a walk next time before bringing her in, saying that it was hard to get her even because she is so high energy. Hello — she’s a Cairn Terrier. Of course she is high energy. We played ball with her for a full hour before the appointment trying to take the edge off that energy! Anyway, she’s been groomed dozens of times at PetSmart and always comes home looking cute and adorable, because Mark there LISTENS to what we want, and understands how to groom a high energy dog. One other thing — when we dropped her off we mentioned that you can’t clip her nails, and to please just file or grind them. For some reason this was ignored, and the quick was cut on two claws — resulting in a bleeding, limpy dog.
Sorry I tried to save money with the Amazon deal, and doubtful we will go back, even though we have a $ 15.00 credit remaining from that deal. Honestly, our poor doggie has never looked so bad. Her face was cut like a Schnauzer, not a Cairn, and the body is just buzzed. No layering on face or body at all — poor scissor work, just a mess. All that was done properly is her tail. Poor doggie. Even she’s embarrassed and sad! :-(
Too bad, because we wanted to try supporting local business, and the visit started out so well, with what appeared to be an attentive and concerned staff. Not sure how this happened. Do visit the pet food shop next door though. They have am amazing selection of food and treats, all rated 4 star or better on
. Prices seem good too. Great find!

I bought an Amazon deal — what a bargain! We have 2 dogs; Dexter and Moses. Moses is a breeze to groom myself, but Dexter won’t let me near him with clippers or scissors. I brought Dex in earlier today and just picked him up a short time ago. He looks great! He’s perfectly even all over his little body — a truly great grooming. Now, I wish that I had brought Moses in too because while he’s easy to groom, I’m certainly no professional. I’ll definitely be bringing Dex back there. We live in Warrenville so while it’s a little bit of a trip and there are probably 50 groomers closer to us, I’m really, really pleased. Beth has earned my business!

Took my dog here when couldn’t get hold of my regular groomer. Love that they let the dogs walk away freely in the back instead of shutting them in a cage. All the rooms are visible from the counter, so you can see what’s going on and how the groomers treat dogs. My dog was having a great time when I picked her up, and she looked so good! Her coat was shiny and super soft. Very reasonable prices too. I’ll definitely go back.

Great !!! We purchased a Amazon coupon for $ 25.00 it was so great! They did a wonderful job. This was my dog Stella’s first time getting a haircut and she was treated so well we were so happy Thank you so much! Definitely go there !

NO! NO! NO! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! My dog got severely injured in this salon. She had to be sedated, stitched up, take pain medication and antibiotics. The vet said that had the cut been a tiny bit deeper my dog could have died! It has been a terrifying experience and I will do everything possible to spread public awareness about this kind of bad business. I posted a picture of how severe the cut was if you’d like to see! The response I got when I came to pick up my dog was «it’s no big deal, just put some neosporin on it, it will scab up in a couple of days»!
The owner, Beth, was the one that injured my dog, and I do understand that it wasn’t intentional and accidents happen, however how she handled the situation was absolutely unacceptable. She was rude and insensitive, never called even once to ask whether my dog was still alive, and on top of that refused to pay the vet bill (which came up to almost $ 500 after a discount I get because I’m on their wellness plan). She then screamed at me on the phone and accused me for taking my dog «to the most expensive place, where she got procedures done she did not need»!
I contacted many agencies and media trying to have this place investigated to prevent future accidents of this nature. I also went to Lisle Police Department to file a report and found out that they are very familiar with this business and how rude the owner is. They had multiple complaints and had to ticket pet owners because their pets «escaped» this salon while they were supposed to be safely groomed. PLEASE DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR PET HERE!

I had one of the groomers come over to my salon for an eye brow wax a few weeks back. She told me that Hand ‘n’ Paw loves papillons. What??? So you all know, I have the world’s greatest… well she is a little naughty, but by far the cutest Papillon the world has ever seen!
I’m new at this dog grooming thang, growing up, my dog’s were all Sheppard and my mom handled all that grooming jazz.
When my wonderful husband finally gave into my endless pleas for a little, white powder puff of papillon joy two beautiful years ago, I quickly found out that I need to have her groomed a little more often than I expected… eekkkk.
I do have an awesome head banging, long hair, dog loving, Metalica listening while grooming, groomer in Lombard that I am loyal too, but my client’s news of Papillon love at their grooming salon took it to a whole notha level! I was intrigued to say the least. I walked over to the store, checked out the goods and booked her little appointment after talking to a groomer and questioning their capabilities for 20 minutes. Was it much?, probably but this is serious and I’m well aware of being a freak.
Unilocal has an offer for their services, $ 30 for $ 50. Ziggy’s bill was only $ 30 so I have a credit for her next appointment. At the time I took Ziggy in, there was a Chinese Crested also waiting for their fabulous new look. Ziggy and her Chinese Crested buddy quickly sniffed and became friends… nice dogs are always cool with me!!!
I saw the review from Kelly C. and I was nervous so I made sure that all was good in da hood before I left. I’ll take anyone or anything down that messes with my angel Ziggy.
When I picked her up, she look fierce! She was groomed, manicured, and excited to see me. She had her little friend still hanging out but I sure got her attention when I walked in.
I am very happy with the grooming, her nails are the perfect length, and she looked very happy! The groomer listened to every detail and made sure I left happy as well. She also gave me a dog park listing where the little guys can go and play without getting trampled.
I will return with the world’s greatest papillon!

Best Groomers in town hands down! I’ve been taking my pooch to Beth since I’ve moved to the area (over 2 years ago) and I have to say, not only does my pooch ALWAYS look & smell better then she came, but Beth and her staff are so wonderful, generous, & friendly! Beth will always go out of her way for you and your pet! Thank you Beth and staff for always doing a great job on Carmella & being such a wonderful business!

I can’t believe this place has gotten so many positive reviews. For starters the first time I went there the staff was pretty nice and did a great job on my dogs nails, but the grooming was completely different than what I requested.
The second time, however; is when I decided never to return. I made an appointment to get my dogs nails done. When we arrived they told us to bring our dog in back and pushed one of the other dogs who had been groomed with their foot and yelled at that dog. We then went into the room and the male doing the nails told my fiancé to hold our one year old dog. He then grabbed our dog and my fiancé’s hand and scruffed our dog (not to be done after the early puppy stage, our vet was appalled when I told her this). He then roughly cut her nails and said that when we take her for walks we should scrape her paws against the concrete to file them down. I’m not sure if we and our dog got such poor treatment because we only were getting her nails trimmed, but the workers were so rude and unprofessional and if they did all this in front of us I cannot imagine how they treat the animals when we are not there.

I have been taking my dog Cocoa to Beth at Hand-​n-​Paw since she opened her doors. Beth and her staff are friendly, courteous and professional. This place is truely a local gem. You will never get service this thorough and professional from a chain pet store! Beth if you read this I will always be your customer.

I called them on a Saturday morning and was able to get an appointment within 30 minutes to bring my dog in. Everyone was very friendly and I liked that the dogs weren’t in separate cages but allowed to «roam free» behind the counter (as long as they behaved with each other). Within an hour I had a freshly bathed and brushed dog minus the «claws» he had when he walked in. Excellent service at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend to anyone I know.

I went for the first time this past weekend. Very few groomers are open on Sunday but this place is. I called in for just a nail clipping and they told me for first time customer’s it will be $ 5 (originally $ 10). I own a Doberman Pinscher who is not a fan of the groomers. My dog Logan would hardly move past the door, the gal was great. She came to him and quickly clipped and filed his nails. We were in and out, I was happy and more importantly Logan was happy. I gave it 4 stars because I really didn’t get to scoop out the place but all the workers were very friendly and this place is really close to home. I’ll definitely be back!

I just tried this place for the first time for my Golden Retriever and we had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful and I loved that my dog didn’t have to be in a cage. They let the dogs run around the store, and they also have rooms with doors if they need to be put somewhere — so the dogs have plenty of space. They do call a little before the dog is ready so you can pick them up right away and it was very affordable. But the best part was that my dog looked and smelled great when I picked her up, they did everything I asked them to do and my dog seemed happy to be there.
