Firestone of Lisle

During a routine oil change and maintenance check at Honda, I was told by the service department that I need rear brakes. I went to Firestone of Lisle and their quote for rear brakes was even higher than the dealership. To make matters worse, I was told by Firestone Lisle that I was overdue for a timing belt, which supposedly had been due at 60K miles. I wondered why Honda hadn’t mentioned the timing belt the previous week. Firestone manager and his associate insisted that the timing belt was overdue. I went home and read the Honda owner’s manual which recommends timing belt change at 60K if IF if the car is consistently driven in extreme temperatures above 110 degrees or below 20 degrees. I was totally misled by Firestone Lisle. Beware of this place. All Firestones are not created equal.

I made an appointment for the State Smog test. This is much closer than having to drive to the Naperville test station. The tech. even corrected a window fuse problem, no charge.

I can’t understand any of the negative ratings. I was treated so well by these people. I know anytime we take a car to the mechanic, those of us who are not so mechanically inclined are nervous. I needed new tires and my fog light fixed. I have an older car and I am sure they could have up sold me something. When I asked about my car they told me that they checked out the suspension, the car was totally fine and didn’t need anything right away. I got my four tires at an amazing price and they even did an alignment for me. I will be taking my car back for all future needs and would recommend this place to all. FYI management was super nice during the whole process. Thank you Firestone of Lisle.

I had the pleasure of dealing with Ken Jaap last Saturday while having a vehicle I was considering purchasing looked over to ensure it was a good buy. Ken and the staff took care to go over the car and gave me a detailed list of things not only needing immediate servicing but things that looked like they’d need serving a little down the road. Their detailed report gave me the information I needed to make an informed decision and to use during the purchasing negotiations. I was then able to call Ken and arranged to have the required servicing dealt with immediately.
Again today, he was equally helpful, called with an update during the day and answered my concerns without ever having me feel that I was nothing more than the most of important priorities.
It’s never fun having to pay out having your car repaired but it’s great when it’s done in a timely, polite and honest manner. These guys are A1.
I’d wholeheartedly recommend Ken and his staff for all your service needs, know they will have my return business without question.

I won’t take our cars anywhere else but to the Firestone in walking distance of our house. I’m in disbelieve with all the 1 stars I’m seeing here on Unilocal.Are you guys talking about the same staff I am? Ken and Brian… they’re all a great staff team!!!
I’ve never met a more honest auto shop. They’re actually currently working on our Infiniti and I can’t wait to get it back all nice and smooth like they did with our Murano. They’re always 100% with us and the shuttle service is a big plus when it’s hot and muggy out. Otherwise I’d just walk to the shop.
Not sure what everyone else was talking about, but I’ll certainly be coming back in there.

This place is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. My family and I have been to this place and each one of us have had a horrible experience. First of all the customer service is ridiculous. I even spoke to the manager and he is way worse than the employees. I went in for an oil change and they broke my tire pressure sensor, which was expensive to fix. My mother went in for an oil change and they broke the tire sensor off her vehicle as well. My most recent experience was my husband vehicle went in for an oil change and they broke the struts off his vehicle. They tried to blame it on us when we were driving the vehicle around way before it coming in for service with no problems. We also brought brand new tires (4 days before going to Jiffy Lube and the tire shop never ever mentioned struts needed for the vehicle. We also had the struts fixed not even six months prior. How do you go in for an oil change and come out with worse problems? Usually you go in to a service shop and they will tell you what is wrong with the vehicle and ask permission to fix other things. THIS SHOP IS THE WORSE AND I WILL NEVER EVER EVER take another vehicle to this shop. There are a whole bunch of inexperienced people that work here. Run and run fast! If you want to go to Firestone… go to the location in Lombard, IL… the service is great and the customer service is wonderful. The Lisle location need to be shut down and the manager need to be fired. It is one thing to believe in your employees, but it’s a whole other thing to make logic of something that doesn’t add up!!!

I took my car to do oil change and they were awesome. Very nice customer service, the complimentary shuttle is best. Staff were very polite and did a great job.
I will definetely go back here and recommend this place to all my friends.

I had my car towed here, because my car wouldn’t start on Saturday. Today, they said it was my starter. I agreed to the price and they replaced my starter. I went to the store down the street. I came out a few minutes later and my starter just spun, but wouldn’t engage the flywheel. It took 6 attempts to start my car. The store was closed, so I will bring it back tomorrow morning and have them fix it AGAIN!!!

Not only did they do a great job with my boyfriends car, they also helped put after I asked a question about my car. There was a piece of plastic hanging after a bad oil change at another place and I wasnt sure if I was damaging my car further. The manager kindly put my car on a lift and fixed it without charging me! While paying for my boyfriends brakes we overheard them talking to a guy who they do free work for randomly because he lives in his car and can’t afford to pay. Nice guys! We will be back to support this local business.

Poor quality service. Rip off artists here.
My wife brought the car in for an oil change prior to a long vacation drive to Florida). She was told that her rear brakes were bad (???) Why were they looking at the brakes when all she asked for was an oil change? She went ahead and got the brakes done. We left for FLA the next day and I noticed that on BOTH rear tires, the boneheads forgot to put 2 lugnuts back on.
We bought my son a used car with stellar maintenance history. No leaks, everything was perfect. We went and got an oil change; low and behold a couple days after bringing it home the car runs like cr@p and is leaking coolant all over the place. WTF?! Bad luck or shady mechanics? You decide. I bring the car back in and we were told that we need the belts replaced, the radiator replaced because it was leaking, and a tune up because the car is misfiring. Hmmmm it was running great before we brought it there. I get quoted a $ 400 – 500 repair cost. I tell them to forget it since the car isn’t worth 200 bucks. I then bring it to another place to get a second opinion; long story short; after spending only $ 76 dollars, the car is working fantastic again. It turned out to be a thermostat issue.

Stay away from this place. I only wish I could give them MINUS five stars. They are rip-​off artists of the first degree and very dishonest. My wife’s brakes failed but she managed to get the car home. I noticed the right rear brake line bad a bad leak. Since we live nearby I was able to nurse the car to Firestone of Lisle the next day. I told them about the bad break line and also told them I was a first time customer and looking for a new mechanic since my old one had moved. He said he would do everything in his power to keep me coming back. What a joke that statement turned out to be. After a few hours they called me at home and told me the brake line was indeed bad and needed to be replaced but that the other one was rusted badly and also needed replaced. They quoted me $ 370 to replace two brake lines which are nothing more than 20 feet of aluminum tubing worth about $ 30 max. I told them I thought it was excessively high but I was kind of stuck because it would have cost me a tow bill to take it somewhere else. Here comes the kicker: They also said the car wasn’t safe to drive because the steering rack and pinion and the tie rod ends were bad and needed replaced. They quoted me $ 800! I had just had the tires replaced and the front end checked at another place and they said all was well so now I suspect these folks are dishonest but like I said I was stuck. I told them to just replace the brake lines. When I called to see if the car was ready I asked them if both lines were replaced and he sad they were. When I picked the car up I asked again if both lines were replaced and he said they were. I paid the $ 370 and went home. I noticed the brake pedal was low but thought It might improve within a day or two. Since I used to do my own mechanic work when I was younger I crawled under the car to check out the new brake lines. To my surprise they only replaced ONE brake line and charged me $ 370! I couldn’t believe they let me drive away with only one new line. Worse, the other one was heavily rusted and would have failed soon with my wife driving the car! When I pulled up in front the guy could barely look me in the eye. I asked for the manager and showed him the one brake line and the low pedal. I also don’t believe they bled the brakes and if they did they only bled the one wheel. I told him to just adjust my bill because I didn’t want them within 50 feet of my car ever again. Folks, if you want to go here for an oil change or something that’s fine but please don’t have them do any mechanic work on your car because they are dishonest. Please get a written estimate and take it somewhere else for a second opinion before you let them touch it. I really don’t want to join Unilocal but feel so strongly about this I’m going to do it if I can warn someone else away from this place. I can only imagine if this happened to a single woman or a senior citizen they would be driving a time bomb.

I was very nervous after reading the low star previous Unilocal reviews. Nevertheless since Firestone was one of the only places within semi walking distance from my house, I decided to give them a shot.
Their shuttle service was pretty nice and saved me some walking and time. The main think was that they actually didn’t force a hard line of bullshit of every little thing that was wrong on my P.O.S. Dodge Neon, but rather focused on the 2 main things that I needed to get the car running (motor mount and air hose). Prices were fair, not cheap but for the work they did and that they did it in a timely fashion I was satisfied with the work they did.
A tip for everyone, before you go in for service, go to the website and print out the coupons they have so you save a little bit extra. That’ll help save a little bit from their slightly higher prices (In respect to prices, I previously had lived in the city where everything is a rip off when it comes to cars).

Aside from the very convieniet shuttle car that they offer that can take you home if you need to leave your car for repairs, I find this Firestone to be useless. I have been to this particular location for an oil change a few times and I am ALWAYS told there is more work that needs to be done on my car. I always just sucked it up and let them do the work until most recently when they told me the serpentine belt was upside down and they were surprised my car was still running. I was bummed until I realized that THIS Firestone is the only place that has done any work on my car so if it was upside down, it was obvious who had done that. They refused to take responsibility for the problem and wanted to charge me $ 250, just to flip the belt over! Are you kidding me? I told them to leave it alone and I would figure it out. I left Firestone and went immediately to a mechanic that my whole family goes to and when I told him the problem he laughed! Without looking at my car he knew that the serpentine belt is grooved on both sides and it wasn’t upside down and then popped my hood and showed me himself. I was livid needless to say that Firestone almost charged me $ 250 for NOTHING. Don’t trust these guys, they are scammers and try and squeeze every dollar out of you they can. I will not be back.

It’s interesting how we can all have unique experiences with a business, good or bad, and I’ve had my share of nasty experiences with businesses so understand how awful that can be. Fortunately, my experience with this store great from the time I went in to the time I left. I needed new tires, and Steve was very thorough in explaining the choices, helping me with a great price, and completing the job quickly for me. So a good experience for me all the way around, and I’d go back.

I have to say that even though I’ve been a regular customer for a while, and will probably continue to be so due to convince, hopefully the reviews will make them change some of their practices. There have been 3 separate instances where I will take my car in for a simple oil change, be informed of other services that need to be performed and «I can’t in good conscience take this car off the rack and put it on the road in this condition.» Attached with a nice price.
I would remain firm and have them give me my car back and continue driving, three times now I’ve taken it in for a second opinion, the next place I take it to will mention a slight problem and quote the fix for half the amount.
But then the next time I take it back to the Firestone of Lisle, I’m given a better price than the second place and well over half the first quote. My take on this is they do good work for your car if you bring it in for exactly what you want done.
There have been a few times where I’ve been given up front and good service with a price so hopefully it is just a matter of a few bad employees.

After waking up on a Sunday morning with a nasty flat tire, I turned to trusty Unilocal to find out where I can have it repaired. Just tires was going to be it, or so I thought. I roll up and they said they were backed up. A 3 hour wait was not how I wanted to spend my day… So Firestone on Rt 53 it was. I was a bit hesitant because of all the nasty reviews, but I just need a tire patched, not anything major, so I took my chances.
I call ahead and checked the wait time, which happened to be none. Score! I also inquired how much to patch a leak… $ 26 bucks, which happened to be $ 8 less than the quote from just tires. Score again!
When I arrived, I also asked the super helpful service guy, Steve, if they could pull the check engine codes off my car. He said not a prob. Score again. I’ve been to incompetent Ziegler off Ogden no joke 4x and they ‘can’t pull the codes, nothing is coming up’. But thats a whole other review that I’ve been writing for weeks now, those MFers.
Ok fast forward 30 mins and my keys are handed back to me, 2 holes are patched (for the price of 1) and $ 26 bucks later I’m on my way out the do’. For someone that despises dealing with car issues, such as myself, this was a virtually painless experience. Thanks again Steve, you the man.

Always get my oil changed here. It doesn’t take very long and they are always so nice. Very informative and helpful!

I went for an oil change 2 weeks ago and they broke my lock off my car. No one said a word and the solved it by putting a screw in the plastic while they ordered a new part for me. The came back in to get the lock fixed that they ordered and noticed the person working on my car struggled to get my window to go back up when putting my door back together. After my car was done they then returned it to me and did not say a word about the window. While in the car the window stuck half way going up and going down. I then go back into the shop only to be told that someone else was in my door before them and that my window was like that when I dropped it off. I was so pissed that they did not say anything about the window. I should also mention that I used that window coming over to the shop and it worked perfectly fine. I was made to feel as though I had been working in the door and was given attitude upon entering the store. While waiting again for my car to be fixed another customer comes in and is asking about tires and when he is told that they are not a corporate store and cant honor the price quoted by another Firestone. The customer asks to speak to a manager when he is told «no» there is noting they can do. The customer then again asks to speak to a manager before they lose a sale and the customer service person tells him that he is busy and cant speak to him. The two then get into a loud verbal altercation in the store and the manager never shows up. I have been getting my cars oil changed here for months but after this experience and how they handled it as well as the other customer I will not be returning. I would highly advise to not take your car to them!!!

My wife scheduled an oil change for 11 am on 10/​13/​2011 @ your Route 53 address in Lisle IL. She arrived and proceeded to wait 45 min for her vehicle. After 45 min she ask why her car didn’t have any wheels on it, as she was only getting an oil change. The person behind the desk said that «our process is thorough and usually takes ½ hour to 45 min.». Directly following that, she looks out the big picture window to the garage area. That’s when the gentleman from behind the desk started talking with a garage attendant (By now it’s been a hour). She then watches 1^st hand the attendant draining oil from her vehicle, the oil change hadn’t even started! She was in and out within an hour and 15 min./hour and 20 min. and got to be treated like an idiot along with being lied to. The person behind the desk tried to convince her, that she had not seen what she had just witnessed. I just thought corporate should know how the business is being run on the ground here in IL. The time spent at the shop is one thing, the treatment she received is an entirely different situation and completely unacceptable. Unfortunately this experience has ruined any chance of future business with your company. I can also not recommend your company to any friends, family or other consumers.
