History

Established in 1979.

Ervin & Nancy Zádor founded the San Joaquin Rifle and Pistol Range in 1979. He made this his home and business. He was a member of the Hungarian national water polo team and competed in the 1956 Olympic games where he earned a gold medal. At this time, the Soviet Union had just invaded his home country when he faced them in the famed, «Blood in the Water» water polo game a few weeks later. A Soviet player struck Ervin, causing a large cut over his eye, and he was pulled from the water. This image became one of the most iconic moments in this sport. Throuhout Ervin’s life on the range, he had become a mentor to many. He was a specialist in firearms by building, gunsmithing, reloading and educating those whom expressed interest. Nancy Zador ran the front and back office, and was a National Championion Shooter. Ervin passed in 2012, Nancy in 2013 and their legacy lives on through their youngest daughter, Christine, who continues to operate/​develop the range today.

Business Owner

Christine Zádor is the President & CEO of SJRPR, and has dedicated herself to carrying on her parents legacy. She attended the University of Southern California where she played water polo and won an NCAA women’s championship. She is an avid shooter and currently shoots in USPSA. Her dream is to make SJRPR a top-​notch shooting facility.

I have been to this range at least 5 times. They have it all — 7, 15, 25 yd pistol and 50, 100, 200 yd rifle ranges. On 12÷26÷15, they had a customer appreciation day offerring free shooting, a free lunch and to top it off, they had outside vendors there offerring free training. I booked a group of 9 and it was one of the funnest range days I ever had.
The staff there are very friendly and rangemasters are always helpful and safe. This is by far my favorite outdoor range. If you haven’t been, go now and have some fun!

Went out here earlier today with my husband, my grandpa, my uncle, and cousins. I’ve only been to one other range & it was not a good experience the first time. This range was a much better experience for me. I felt safe, I like that it is outdoors, I like that there were two men walking around keeping eyes on people. My goal is to become more comfortable around guns & today’s outing made me feel more confident. The pricing is very reasonable, I will be returning here soon!

I’ve been here about twice now. Friendly experienced staff. Great rules that are required that provide for safety. I will be back and have recommended it to friends. Pay at the check in desk then move your vehicle closer to the range!

Just a great place to go shoot. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a good supply of shooting accessories and ammo at competitive prices. The range masters and safety officers maintain excellent range discipline. I always feel safe shooting there with my family and or my grandchild. Good place to instill gun safety and discipline in the youngsters.

Just went for the first time with a couple of buddies and had an excellent experience. Staff is very friendly and the range master is very helpful and experienced. Check in is slow but that’s how it usually goes your first time I’d say. They also have a pretty good variety of targets at a decent price.

this was my first time out here and let me tell you the staff are great and friendly and very helpful I forgot the rang officer name but thanks for helping me site in my ar 15 last week I will be back soon and the pistol range was also good and the range officer there was also helpful thanks everbody for make me feel wecome there see you soo.

This is by far one of the best ranges around in central valley, the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Range masters Jason and Aron are great as well. if you want a good place to send lead down range then this is the spot.

Took my dad out to shoot his new Glock and it was a great experience. We went on a Monday so it wasn’t crowded at all. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They actually made me feel they were glad we were there. I only used the pistol range and I was pleased. I am from Southern California but have a second home in the area so I will be here frequently. Next time I will bring a few rifles and spend the whole day here. They are kid friendly too (.22 caliber only for the kiddos). I’m only giving it 4 stars because I haven’t used all their services yet. Today’s experience was 5 star though.

I have been going to this range since I purchased my first pistol last year. I have never had a problem and have always had a great time there. The girl in the office is helpful and friendly. I have been with my wife shooting, my daughter, brought out new shooters and have shot by myself without issue, until this last trip. It seems that they have taken on new staff and they are quite over zealous. The safeties that have been there since I started going were always friendly and professional. They would address any issue and not try to be an ass about it while keeping everyone safe. The newbies, however have no tact and seem to make up rules as they go along. The guy in the wheelchair being the worst offender continuously shouts at patrons while BS’ING and not paying very close attention. The female safety is just as confrontational and loud also while jaw — jacking. I have NEVER had a range safety up my ass so far, not even in the Army. Needless to say, I don’t think I will be coming back.
Ok, so an update. I have been back to the range and haven’t had any issues. Even the safety in the wheelchair was much better. Much better overall experience this time.

I came here with my family and was pretty disappointed.
You have to go to the office area to pay and check in and the shooting area is ridiculously far from where you park. No one wants to carry all their guns and ammo that far. Because I had two older people and a child with me, we actually drove closer to the range after paying. The girl in the office was nice enough, but the check in process is very long; it’s like a doctor’s office medical history or a law enforcement background check just to shoot your own gun.
There are staff members walking around to «assist» but I felt like it was an army training facility, but with no training. The staff are more like narcs than helpers. I got tired of waiting for all the other groups of people in my area to finish before I could change out my targets and the price was really ridiculous for a family outing. I would not return and I would not recommend it to anyone.

I took my son and daughter-​in-​law to this range today, we had a great time! My daughter-​in-​law enjoyed and did great for the first time shooting.
The young lady in the office was wonderful, excellent customer service and got us through the check in process without a hassle.
Jason was the range safety officer, he was friendly and a good job.
The range was run a little more loose then I’m use to. I’ve experienced, as many of us have, rigid range masters that run a very strict shooting line for safety.
All in all a great time had by all of us. We’ll go again.

Went there with a buddy on a warm summer day to zero in the new optics, haven’t been there in a while but very impress with all the updates they have made. Personnel there were down to earth and nice! Range Master on site. Always best to call before heading out.
