Russell’s Bridals & Tuxedos

This place is really a mixed bag. It was great for getting my bridesmaids dresses, because they’re one of the few places to have sample gowns above a size 10, since a few of my bridesmaids were above that size, and I didn’t think it was fair for them to be unable to try anything on. No major issues with picking and ordering gowns, although you’re completely on your own, they don’t help you at all. Fine for me, but could be annoying for other people. And one of my bridesmaids and I had to redo the measurements their employee took when choosing sizes, because she really had no idea what she was doing, and was measuring wrong.
The biggest problem I had was when one of the dresses had to be back ordered or something like that, and every time I called in to check the status of the gown, they told me that the one person who worked there that could answer my question was not in yet, and would call me back later. Then she never called back. So I would call again in a day or so and be told the same thing. It took weeks to get any answers. How is there only ONE person that knows anything, and they’re never in?
Also, don’t have anything altered here. A few of my bridesmaids had fittings for alterations, but the seamstress, who is impossible to schedule with anyway, was incredibly rude, and had the worst ideas of how to alter things that I’ve ever seen. None of my bridesmaids ended up having their gowns altered there.
So this place is good if you want a selection of sizes to try on, and just want to go in yourself and order dresses. But if you want any help or attention, try elsewhere.

I had a HUGE bridal party go here to get both their tuxes and bridesmaid dresses (over twenty people) I would expect giving them thousands of dollars of business would somehow ensure good service — Boy was I wrong on both ends of the store !!
Many of my bridesmaids complained how the staff was very rude to them and difficult when trying to obtain appointments. Their alteration hours are very limited and a few of my girls went to their appointments and had to wait as they weren’t done with their dresses. One of the girls dresses had a stain on it that they didn’t notice and she had to point out. Another of my girl was given THE WRONG dress to try on to alter and had to go back another day to get the right one.
My biggest complaint on the women’s side is that I dropped off ten belts to be fastened on the girls dresses that I paid for. I dropped them off before the dresses were in and wrote specific instructions on them. When my bridesmaids went to go, they called me and told me they were no belts on the dress. I immediately called the store and the seamstress had no idea that the bridesmaids dresses were supposed to have belts, just the MOH dresses, yet I dropped off TEN belts. Had My bridesmaid not spoken up it would have been a huge Headache trying to get the dresses back to be put on. Also one of the girls belts on her dress was crooked and she had to speak to them to re attach.
I then sent my groom and his groomsmen (all 12 of them) to the men’s side thinking that it was a great deal the girls alterations would be free if they rented them there. At first it started out fine– yet when they were ready to go pick up the tuxes two days before the wedding, none of the ties were in. And if I did not check the bags of the groomsmen they would have let us leave without them. The girl didn’t work there and was filling in it and was nice but had no idea what she was doing. I understand that but this is my bridal party’s attire. They weren’t very sympathetic and it was very stressful thing to deal with right before the wedding. We had to wait til the day before the wedding to pick them up, I don’t understand I placed this order in October those ties should have been ready when we were told. Two days before my actual wedding is more than cutting it close– but meanwhile we didn’t get them until the day before !!
Seriously Russell’s was one of the BIGGEST headaches of my planning. It makes me look bad to my bridal party when they all had complaints about this place. Please take my advice and don’t do business here. I expect much better for such a huge bridal party– they are all getting engaged or are engaged and none of them will go here now.

Sue and her staff are the sweetest! They went out of their way to make me look like a princess!
They are so patient and really listen to you. They do their best to make you look and feel good on your big day.
I do have another gown from another bridal shop where I paid much much more but the service was not even half good!

Worst service EVER! Was told I needed an appointment for Mother of the Bride Dresses and when we got there no one else was in the store.
Attendants did nothing other than put us in a room and tell my mom she had a week to order the dress because it was going out.
We carried all of our dresses in, zippered all of the dresses and hung them back on the racks ourselves.
Will not go back and will not recommend.

If I could I would actually give this business 3.5 stars. The place has a lot of options and I was lucky enough to be accommodated when I first walked in. I had no appointment and they squeezed me in because I had a clear idea of what I wanted. Sue and the seamstresses were very nice. Always helping to make the dress perfect. The young girl who usually works on the guy’s section is not very good. I had an issue with one of the straps and she had the nerve to tell me that the strap was ok and it was «me» and I was just focusing in on it to much. Really? Let’s just forget I just dropped over $ 1000 to get this dress and get it fitted to me for my big day.
I think I was pretty reasonable. I had no issues coming in for multiple fittings (4 to be exact) and I had no issue when they made me wait over an hour for one of my appointments due to the fact that they were overbooked or running late, not sure which one.
However, when the girl had the nerve to tell me that the ratings fell. I was there for my last alteration appointment and the seamstress was making the last /​minor alterations and I felt like the girl just wanted me to leave so she wouldn’t have to keep helping me back into my dress after every adjustment.
Luckily, when the seamstress came up she asked me what I wanted. I explained, she moved the strap, and then the dress looked PERFECT.

I would have given this place a 4… because the staff is nice and friendly… if only they didn’t screw me out of my second fitting appointment 2 weeks before a friend’s wedding. If you don’t live in the area, don’t use their seamstress. I now have a saggy rouching on the top of my strapless bridesmaids dress and it’s 5 days before I have to leave for the wedding. The seamstress only comes M-​F. So if you have kids and work full time, you’re basically screwed if you’re not a local.

Worst customer service ever experienced! If you are a bride or bridesmaid, do not even think of stepping foot through these doors!
To start off with, I ordered my dresses ahead of schedule in October (8 months before the wedding) for my bridesmaids. I ordered 4 Angelo dresses, and 3 of my bridesmaids from different states ordered their dresses from salons in their state at the same time. We were told they would be in, as well as straps for two of the dresses (which we paid more for) in February of this year.
February comes around and I do not hear anything. I call the salon as want to know an ETA and they said they have no clue and maybe should be in in 2 weeks. I call back in 2 weeks. They said ‘nope not in’ and I should STOP calling and wait till they call me. (side note: this was a simple ETA phone call for dresses we paid over $ 200 each for). It becomes March… and still no dresses and constant rudeness from the staff at Russell’s Bridals.
April rolls around and surprisingly the dresses have arrived…2 months late. (the other 3 dresses that were ordered at different salons came in in February… ordered from the SAME FACTORY!) I am assuming that Russell’s forget to order our dresses since every other salon that ordered Alfred Angelo dresses was able to get them on time.
As the girls get their dresses, we noticed that the extra straps purchased did not come in. I ask for an ETA and they say ‘2 weeks’. I call back in 2 weeks to set up the fitting for on of my bridesmaids to have the straps sewn on, and they say ‘not in and we don’t know why.’ I proceeded to ask them questions as in why the dresses were SO late and why the straps which were ordered in October did not come with the dresses. Their response…‘We are having problems with China’ (where the factory is.) My mother then calls to see if she can get an actual ETA on when the straps are coming in (we need to have alterations done) and now they respond saying ‘Oh the straps came in in April but we sent them back cause the dye lot was wrong.’ I NEVER received a phone call from Russell’s telling me the straps came in for the dresses, and they NEVER asked me if it was okay to send the straps back. CONSTANT LYING!
Finally, 3 WEEKS BEFORE MY WEDDING the straps have finally come in. The only reason I ordered through this salon was because they were the closest one to carry this style of dresses. Word to the wise, if you like the Alfred Angelo dresses… then drive to PA to order them. The dresses are stunning, but Russell’s was awful. Created the most stress in this wedding process, and I wish no bride to have to deal with the rudeness, carelessness, and overall unprofessional attitude of everyone who works and owns this store.
*If they told me they forgot to order the dresses, and they would expedite then that would have been fine. They could have comped one of the girl’s alterations… but nothing was offered… no apology.*
*Also the shopping experience there was awful… I did ALL the work carrying dresses and helping the girls in them… the attendant disappeared for half the appointment*

The ladies at Russell’s were so accommodating and sweet! I just had to choose a bridesmaid dress but they made it easy :). Having my newborn with me was a challenge and they were great about letting me feed him and taking my time! Highly recommend.

I’m sorry that I couldn’t write a better review because everyone was so nice, but the place is overwhelming because It’s just a mess and also has a odor I’m sorry to say. They do have a lot to choose from but I felt the bridal selection was definitely lacking. Bridesmaids is a different story which I have to say they have a huge selection. But the floor was covered in pins and I was scared to walk around in my socks when I was trying on dresses. This place has potential if they just did something to improve the atmosphere. Sorry…

I am very unhappy with the dishonesty of the staff here. Here was my experience: I had to get a bridesmaid gown, they only have a very large size in stock. I was then measured and told to get a certain size. When I looked shocked at the size, the girl showed me the sizing chart and my measurements. I was off by 1 inch in the chest area for a smaller size gown BUT I was 2 full inches smaller in all 3 measurements for the size she told me to purchase (aka I will be needing major alterations). I said that I am more comfortable getting the smaller size due to the fact that only my chest was off by 1 and I would switch bras.
So my dress comes in — the zipper was difficult ON THE HANGER to get unzipped and then zipped up again. I try the dress on asking for assistance to zip me. The seamstress said «I am not going to force the zipper, you will need to get alterations and have the dress let out an inch on each side» … force the zipper? If you can hold the material closed all the way but the zipper is tough, it should zip!
Finally, I decided to go back to simply pick up my gown and get alterations elsewhere. Funny thing is, As soon as I tried the dress on, it zipped up just fine and fits perfectly (the chest is actually too large without the bra). I personally would never go here again.

Went there yesterday as my first choice for a bridal salon and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had a 12 o’clock appt, but when I arrived there were already 2 brides. I know you can’t rush a bride when she’s choosing when of the most important aspects of her wedding, so my mom, 3 year old daughter and I browsed through the dresses a little while.
The woman who greeted me upon entrance asked if I had anything specific in mind and I told her the designer I was interested in. She explained that Veronica would be helping me and directed me to their section of the store where I should be browsing.
After about 25 mins a room became available, Veronica pulled about 6 dresses based on an image that I showed her and had them ready for me to try on.
After trying on 2 and now trying on the 3^rd I knew that this was «the one», but I wanted to give the other dresses a shot just in case I was jumping the gun.
By this time my 2 older sisters arrived and I wanted them to see the dress that they loved. They too loved the dress and I was sold. Veronica gave me a veil to try, which was out of the box for me, but I loved it, so now I have to find a veil that I love.
All in all, I had a great experience here and I brought my bridesmaid and maid of honor there as well.
One thing I didn’t like is that if they were busy you’d wait at the front while all of the help was located in the back.

I got my wedding dress here. I so highly reccomend it. Their dresses are beautiful, and alterations are included for wedding dresses. Also you can stay there all day, no one pushes you out the door. If you’re from Jersey, and getting married, make an appointment. Theresa was the person who worked with me, and she’s great.

The owner is terribly rude and I cannot comprehend how she has run a business for so long. Very unprofessional I wouldn’t even go here if they were giving away free dresses!

I live in the Bay Area but my mom and sister really wanted to look at wedding dresses with me (and I wanted their help too!) so we decided to shop in NJ, where I grew up. Our appointments with Sue were fine and she was helpful; I found the perfect dress here and adored wearing it on my wedding day. I fell in love with the dress a mannequin in the front was wearing and Sue immediately undressed her (haha) so that I could steal the most amazing gown I’ve ever worn. Our appointment was really nice and I was the only bride there so it was very relaxed and easy to look at a lot of dresses in a short amount of time. Sue had some really great suggestions too– she was a wonderful help to us! I had some of the dress alterations done at Russell’s (the seamstress was great and worked very fast to make the waist smaller for me!) and then the rest were completed in California so the dress would be the correct length.
I would have rated Russell’s 5 stars because the service in store was wonderful and I adored my dress, however, I did experience some hiccups along the way. I felt like the staff at Russell’s were a little bit judgmental at times because my husband and I planned our wedding quickly and they were not used to a bride coming in for a dress in September for a wedding in November. Kind of a «tsk tsk» thing going on or something. The thing is I wasn’t being a Bridezilla or demanding dresses they didn’t have. so it really wasn’t an issue, you know? Okay, that’s fine that it upset you I got a dress last minute but you don’t have to lecture me about it. the bride is going to find a dress no matter what.
After hassling me about the time frame Russell’s literally took FOREVER to send my dress to California! They acted like it would be shipped out asap so I waited for my dress to arrive for over a week. I started to panic and emailed/​called them only to learn that the dress hadn’t been shipped at all. it was sitting in their store in NJ. They were «looking for the right box» which made no sense to me. If you are in this business and telling me you’ve had customers from France then how do you not know how to ship a dress in a timely manner? Or maintain good contact with your clients? When they finally shipped the dress they didn’t give me any tracking information even though we had made a HUGE purchase. I needed to know when the dress was coming so I could be home for the delivery! My mom ended up going back to the store to get the correct information because whoever I spoke to on the phone was pretty rude to me the last time I called.
Anyway, I got my dress. And the veil arrived a few days before we had to leave for our wedding (phew.) so it was all good. Luckily I found a very professional, fast, and non-​judgmental seamstress where I live and she was able to shorten the dress for me in under a month. I would recommend this place for their good selection but I would caution out of town brides. you will need to keep on top of this place if you want to know if they’ve shipped your dress, what the tracking # is, etc.

I was in a wedding party that used this shop. The bridesmaids got their dresses from the bridal store and the groomsmen were supposed to get our tuxedos from here. From what I’ve been told the bridal side is great, but the tuxedo side is pure trash. I was going to give them 1 star, but because the bridal side is «great,» I added a star.
I went into the tuxedo shop a couple times and both times I felt like I wasted my time by coming in. There was nobody to greet me when I walked in, so I stood around and started making noise by moving clothes on the rack to make somebody come out and help me. When somebody finally came out they couldn’t find the wedding information despite the bride being in the store the previous day (It took them 10 minutes to find the envelope pinned on the wall behind them). I was then measured and asked how much the rental would be before telling the man I wouldn’t be renting shoes from him (because they reminded me of HS prom shoes), but that didn’t change the price.
Luckily, I didn’t have to deal with the tuxedo side of Russel’s again… If you’re smart you wouldn’t deal with them either.

I was in a wedding this past month– the bride bought her dress here, as well as the bridesmaid dresses. Because I live in Rhode Island, I visited a bridal boutique here to size me for the Belsoie gown. I ordered the dress through Russells. The dresses came in and, oh boy, mine was too small by at least two sizes. I needed this thing let out A LOT. I would say the back zipper didn’t close by 8 – 9 inches.
I was in quite the pickle. I brought the dress to a seamstress here in RI. When I picked up the dress a few weeks later (a week before the wedding), I left crying. I thought the seamstress was playing a joke on me. Along the seam of the zipper, there was just a random piece of fabric (maybe from hem line). I called the bride, and she called Russels. I was coming into Jersey on a FRIDAY AND THE WEDDING WAS THAT SUNDAY. They told the bride to bring me in then…
I arrived in Jersey that afternoon and the bride drove me right there. I had already accepted the fact that the dress was ruined and I had NO EXPECTATIONS walking in there. I even bought hair pieces for the wedding day to cover the entire back of the dress! I went in, put on the dress, the seamstress came out looked and pinned. They said they’d call in a few hours when it was done. I still had no faith anything could be done.
They called an HOUR later — the dress was done and I could come get it. When I walked in and saw my dress, neither me or the bride could believe our eyes! The dress looked brand new. Again, I thought a joke was being played on me. The dress fit like a glove. The seamstress let the dress out the proper way and was able to restore the original look of the back and zipper. AND THERE WAS NO CHARGE.
I CANNOT THANK YOU GUYS ENOUGH. My best friend’s wedding was made even more special because I didn’t have to walk down the aisle looking like a fool!!!

amazingly great experience!!! Every appointment i had with them leading up to my September 2012 wedding was great. Sue was wonderful. She never rushed me and always told me her honest opinion. Great prices and great selections for bridal gowns, tuxedos, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, shoes etc. you also get discounts for certain things. my husbands tuxedo for our wedding was free because we got our bridesmaid dresses there. It is just a fabulous store with a really great staff. I am now in a wedding that all our dresses are from Russells. I just can’t say enough great things about them. So happy to be working with the team again.

This is my first Unilocal review so bare with me. I’m a Unilocal Virgin and the Bride. For me to write a review, I must be very angry and upset. And NO, I didn’t turn into Bridezilla, though my bridesmaids said I should have.
I give this place 2 stars because they have great selections! It’s a huge place for both brides and bridesmaids dresses and accessories. I was desperate to find a place that carries Alfred Angelo and opens on Sundays. This was the place! First 2 appointments went well, helpful with the dress shopping and 3 months later, the first fitting. 2 weeks later, second fitting, the nightmare begins. They said on the 2^nd fitting, they would fix any last minute adjustments and we can take the dresses home. WRONG! one dress was hemmed slanted and the top was super tight around the bust. The seamtress tugged on the dress making it seem like my bridesmaid can’t dress properly when I pointed out the hem is slanted. I now have to buy shorter heels for the bridesmaid with the short and slanted hem…
The other dress, she did nothing to the bust even though the last appt. she pinned the top. Nothing was done to the hem and we were suppose to make our 3^rd fitting appt. My wedding is in 2 weeks at this point!!! My bridesmaids were smart enough to say, stop. take the dress back and go elsewhere for the alterations. The sales girl stated that it was their busy season to justify why the dresses were ruined and why they are backed up. She then added, «We are still altering dresses tonight for the wedding tomorrow.» to prove how backed up they were… red flag!!! How do you run a business like this??? No apologies from them, just bad attitudes…
Another RED FLAG: The seamstress dust-​chalked a chiffon dress!!! Anyone knows chiffon is hard to sew, and to dust the lines with chalk and use that as your guideline!!! no wonder why the hem is slanted!!!
Short Tip: Fine, order dress from here (expect at least 3 months for arrival) BUT do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for alterations. Don’t pay $ 65 (max alteration $) to be stressed out and frustrated.

I stumbled upon this shop via Unilocal and I am glad I did. I came here looking for bridesmaids dresses. Their selection is HUGE! So, many dresses, designers, colors, etc. We pulled so many dresses and after feeling a little defeated because i was very specific in my search and didn’t quite find exactly what I was looking for. Theresa (the young lady that works there) was EXCELLENT! She asked me exactly what i was looking for and I told her mermaid silhouette and a dress that comes in two shades of purple because I’d like my girls to wear two different colors. Within two minutes she approached my bridesmaid and I with a dress to try on. At first, I was hesitant but figured why not, it can’t hurt! After, she got me in the dress! My bridesmaid and I were sold… it was the one! The customer service here was great and i love that they’re helpful but still hassle-​free. They allow you to look at your leisure but still around if you need assistance or help. Glad I found this place.

Not much to say, I wouldn’t exactly call the employees helpful but I have no complaints. Rented a tux here for a wedding. I was measured in about 2 minutes, very efficient. The guy that helped me looked like Mike from jersey shore. They had some nice tuxes on display. I payed $ 130 to rent the tux, it seemed expensive but I dont rent tuxes so how would I know.
