I love this place. It’s right in my town and very convenient. It’s very small inside but the sushi guys remember you everytime you go in. They do a lot of takeout orders and it’s already fresh fish. I go here for a quick lunch or dinner and bring wine. It’s BYO. They are quick and very nice and clean.

The miso soup was outstanding and the garden salad with the ginger dressing was delicious. Other than that this place was alright. We ordered take out. The rolls were okay(California, sweet potato, and avocado) but didn’t have much taste to them. Also, the ginger and avocados looked somewhat discolored like they had been sitting out. All three of us eating agreed that our food just seemed to be the run of the mill sushi that could have been bought at the acme next door. Also, if you go ahead and order, ask for extra wasabi as they provide very little with an order of 7 rolls. Be warned that the prices on menupages are different than those in the restaurant.

I walked in and automatically said woah. Man is this place small. I called an order to go and I asked for the total which I thought was a bit much since I had only ordered two simple rolls but I thought the taste would match the price and I was disappointed to say the least. The sushi tastes like the sushi you could get at your local shop rite, and the sushi there tastes better than this. I will not be going back.

I walked in and knew right away that this was a Japanese place run by non-Japanese folks. So I picked something that is easy to prepare and unlikely to go wrong: the unagi don. I subbed the soup for salad, and got a sad bowl of iceberg lettuce pieces with a sickly sweet dressing. Unagi don also came with sickly sweet sauce, as if they mixed in corn syrup. Not to mention the shriveled-up oshinko they topped it with. They dowsed the rice with it, too, so almost no rice was unharmed. You’re not supposed to dowse the rice like that. I asked the server for some plain rice because the rice under the unagi was inedible. He gave me a bowl of rice, and I could tell right away that the rice was the same quality as the kind served as those chicken-with-broccoli Chinese restaurants; basically, junk. Matte with no shine, pieces are«scaley», no texture, no flavor. Yuck. I have far better rice at home, and I could cook it better in a $ 15 rice cooker. If this is the kind of «Japanese food» that people are eating in this town, I feel sorry for them… this place is to Japanese cuisine what those take-out Chinese places are to Chinese cuisine.

Mediocre sushi, rude service, overpriced for the portions given. None of the people in our party left happy and they charged us for the water. Came in after reading the other reviews and left thoroughly disappointed.

Tiny little sushi place tucked almost invisibly into the elbow joint of a classic NJ strip mall, Sakura offers really fresh, tasty, nice-quality sushi. It is truly tiny, with only about 2.5 tables, but with a legit sushi bar — also tiny, maybe 4 seats? Lunch specials are classic, with selection of roll + miso soup + salad, and outside of lunch hours you can get a combo special for $ 10.95, but you won’t get any of the special or super-special rolls on that limited combo menu. Gots to go beyond the discount menu if you want the really good stuff, and it is indeed GOOD! Haven’t had a bad or boring meal here yet; great to have in the neighborhood. BYO.

This is a small, intimate sushi bar. There are 3 tables and a small bar in a no frills atmosphere. I found the quality of the sashimi high with buttery, fresh taste. The wasabi is indeed fresh. This is how sushi should be served: immediate, fresh, and without fanfare. The udon noodle soup and pad Thai were better than some I’ve had in Japan. This is a byob so come prepared. This is a gem of a find and I intend to use it more in the future. It beats the pants off of the place across(Kimchi and Sushi). Well done

This is a great place. Very fresh Sushi, Fantastic special Rolls. Must try the Black Pearl Roll. The owner is great. I love wasabi and he brought out some REAL ground wasabi for the sushi. Small place but great service. Miso soup was to die for. Paradise Roll unbelievable. Who would have thunk? A great Sushi place in urban NJ. Tuna Tataki was delicious. This is a must go place.
