Had a great time with Sophia today at Chroma Salon Spa!!! I had platinum blonde medium length hair with horible root growth, over an inch. Yikes! So I figured hey kick the blonde back a bit and pull through some of that nice brown with an ombré. Sophia was able to help me without hesitation she knew exactly what color to mix up to match my root and make the style work in a balanced manner. While my color set Catlyn took care of my nails. She did a beautiful no chip manicure with a mood changing color, which was quite interesting to watch change in our cold chicago weather. Never knew mood changing nail color existed I recommend to try it. Overall, another great experience at Chroma Salon Spa helping me look

This was my first time visiting Chroma Salon. It’s a very relaxing atmosphere and everyone there was very welcoming and accommodating. I saw Sophia for my haircut. My hair is very curly and after coloring and straightening my hair for years– there was a lot of damage. I wanted to get rid of everything that felt dry and damaged and told Sophia I wanted a shoulder length cut. I’ve had experience with bad haircuts in the past, so I was a little nervous. Finding a great hair dresser is like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes, but Sophia was great! She made me feel comfortable, walked me through what she was doing and asked my opinion during the process. Needless to say, the end result was perfect. It was exactly what I asked for; maybe even better. I’m very happy with my hair and will be returning to see Sophia in the future. I definitely recommend visiting Chroma Salon!

First of all, Five stars are not enough for this classy little spa. It is quaint, the people that work there are genuine, the owner is so kind to all. When you walk in you are greeted in a timely manner. They offer you the best coffee I have had in a long time… and red or white wine, that’s correct! You are there to be PAMPERED! You will get 20% off each service if you go in for the first time. I had unique nails created for a Mardi Gras party for tomorrow night by Caitlyn. Everyone commented on them while they were in the salon. She is the best by far. I have been to many salons, never did I get creations like hers. The owner Samantha said she will put the picture of my nails on her website, so be sure to check out CHROMA. Then I had Natalia do a facial wax and two facials and she is so gentle and very informative. I watched the hairdressers do some hairdos and they did great color and their hair looked so healthy as they were walking out. My name is Kathy and I am from Skokie, IL and I highly recommend that you at least check this spa out. Your WON’T be disappointed.

This a great salon! All of the staff is super helpful and friendly. I called at the last minute on a Friday morning and Penny was able to fit me it. Great haircut and fabulous color. Everyone in the place greeted me and then everyone complimented my new look! I use Aveda products, so this place really fit my needs. The owner gave me a piece of candy and a small sample product when I left — nice touch.

The 5 stars goes to the relaxing experience I received after I received a facial by Natalia. When I arrived, she was waiting by the door for me, greeted me, and had me full out paperwork that asked questions regarding my concerns. She asked me to come a few minutes early to do so, and I’m glad I did because otherwise, it’d cut into my facial time, so be prepared and arrive early! She walked me back to a private room and had me take off jacket, socks and shoes. Why socks and shoes off for a facial you ask? Well, they are all about providing an overall complete relaxing experience, therefore my feet were soaked in a warm bath and later rubbed.
The facial I received was amazing. Natalia extracted the blackheads around my nose and under my bottom lip. She did not make my skin peel or scar like when I do that myself. Her skillful hands applied the right pressure and did not hurt me at all. She was very knowledgable about all of her Aveda products as well as products and ingredients that would address each type of concern/​problem that I had.
The products used were all Aveda products, and were so nice. They have a large variety of products so that each facial is tailored to your skin type and your concerns. Some spas use the same products on everyone, which doesn’t really address the different particular skin types. They also had a steamer to open up the pores.
The salon itself was snug, but was nicely arranged and clean. The room I was in was cozy, programmable, dim-​able lights (to create that relaxing atmosphere). There was nice spa music playing and all the products smelled so good, which just added to the relaxing experience. Along with the facial and foot rub, I also received a massage around my shoulders, neck, head, arms, and hands, not to mention hot towels!
I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks.
5 stars for salon atmosphere, free parking lot, the facial itself, and products used.

Nadia is amazing! I have been getting my hair cut from her for years. She listens about what I want and is always happy to go shorter if I’m worried about cutting too much off to start with. She is the only one who I will let layer my 7 year old daughter’s hair. I trust her completely.
Samantha is the owner and manages an awesome salon. She is knowledgeable and genuinely cares about her clients. She has changed my make-​up routine dramatically by dying my blonde eyelashes and coloring my eyebrows! She is fantastic!

Maggie is the best and always efficient with talent. Love her haircuts! She takes her time to focus on what the client wants and also educates. She even advised against me putting color on my hair, now that’s when you know they really care about their work not just the service to make money. I trust her completely!

Really like this place. I especially like Nadia who is a great colorist and stylist. The prices aren’t too bad either. I do wish they would offer a basic blow dry as standard with the color but I guess, they have to make their money somehow. The offering of tea and coffee is a very nice touch and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I also like the products they use and have overall been very happy with my service here at Chroma.

Every single time I come here I feel cared for. Everyone is so attentive and on top of it! I have had many different services here and every single one of them has been top notch! Will continue to spread the good word about this salon!!!

Love this place! Modern, spotless, and has a great energy. No matter how stressful my day, I leave here smiling. I always get compliments on my hair — as I just book and show up, full credit goest to Maggie!

I actually really liked this place! Sophia highlighted my hair and did a great job! I got a pedicure while the color processed which was an awesome way to kill time. I’m going back for a touch up soon and I can’t wait! I love the customer service all around there!

Totally unorganized. Rude receptionist. She sounded high and confused when trying to book my appointment for just a blow dry. Unacceptable. I’d rather do it myself. Booooooooooo

I went to Chroma based on the reviews and the fact that they are an Aveda salon. I was thrilled to get an apt on short notice for a cut & highlights. Sophia is a master stylist and color technician. I walked out feeling like a million bucks for a special occasion that night. Everyone in the salon is wonderful. I got a fantastic discount as a first time client. They use wonderful Aveda products that smell amazing. I’ve already recommended Sophia to several friends. She is truly gifted.

I recently visited Chicago and needed to get a facial due to an abrupt breakout! I booked an appointment with Samantha and received, hands down, the best facial ever! She is extremely knowledgable and genuinely cares about her clients. The staff at Chroma definitely know what’s up in terms of style. My highlights and cut turned out amazing. I am for sure going back next time I visit!

I went in for the first time and as an emergency. I had gotten my hair colored and highlighted a week ago and it turned out horrible! I couldn’t even look at myself let alone go out in public looking so ridiculous but I braved it for a week until my appointment tonight. I literally had close to orange hair. Luckily Sophia and Chroma are amazing and not only fixed my ridiculous hair but made it look flawless and healthy. I am in love! So happy I went in and they have a customer for life. They are definitely worth checking out. You will not be disappointed!

My first and definitely not my last time getting my hair done here. I was squeezed in the same day with Sophia for a highlight and cut/​style. She fixed what Teddie Kossof sailing did to me a year ago (the color still was stuck in my hair)…and the timing was perfect as it was the day before my anniversary. My husband was amazed at how great I look as did the rest if the family. Thank you so much! I was even able to but my favorite aveda lip balm there :)

i was looking for a new salon 6 months or so ago, wanted an Aveda salon and found Chroma. from the moment i called them they were very nice and pleasant on the phone. Nadia did my had, wow she is great, really enjoys her job and very personable

Maggie did an excellent job on my blonde highlights and low lights… She gave me exactly what I wanted, and the entire experience was a pleasure. I highly recommend you go check out the salon! Great service.

I was long overdue for a professional haircut, my last one being circa 2006, and while I’d been able to trim the bottom ends with no problems, all the layers and style that were from my 2006 haircut were slowly but surely growing out and being trimmed away. A few weeks ago, I realized my hair was at my low-​mid back and practically all one length. No wonder my curly hair no longer curled, it was too long and pyramid-​like, and I suddenly became desperate for a cut and color (the resistant grays are starting to come in fast and furious).
I decided to try Chroma based on it’s proximity to my house (around a 10 minute drive), to Renga-​tei (I told my boyfriend if he drove me, I’d buy him sushi for dinner), and the good reviews which mention curly hair. My cut and color were scheduled with Tenille, who has about 10 years experience. She is also the salon’s hair extension expert (not that I need any, my hair’s pretty long). She was very friendly and sweet, and complimented my curls (which I thought were in a sad state of overgrowth). She mentioned having curly haired clients and that her sister-in-law’s hair was like mine, so I was confident she had the know-​how to cut my hair well.
We started with color, she brought out swatches to compare to my natural color, and then mixed a blend of a medium brown with a touch of darker brown, and it looks great. She covered every last gray, including the few I usually miss around the hairline. It was pretty dark, but has lightened up a bit since washing it a couple times, and is just right (I prefer to match my natural color). As for the cut, I told her I usually let my hair air-​dry curly, so I wanted just a bit of length taken off, but needed a lot of shaping. She took only an inch off the bottom, but a lot came off when she cut the long layers (it really had been a long time since my last cut!). After blow drying my hair and flatironing it, she rechecked the layers and fine tuned the long bangs and layers around my face.
Chroma is an Aveda salon, so it has that wonderful Aveda product smell. Tenille used a couple of straight styling products in my hair, and all in all, I felt far more glamorous than I had in a long time! My hair was sleek and shiny and felt and smelled great. They have a new massage therapist and she approached the customers waiting in chairs, offering hand massages while we waited, which was awesome, because I have carpal tunnel in both wrists, and it was a great way to unwind after a week of computer use at work. I would definitely consider getting a massage here too.
A few days after my cut, it was time to wash the sleek straightness away, and I let it dry naturally curly (the true test of a good cut). My hair had fullness all over, and the curls were back. No hint of pyramid hair, it looks shiny and bouncy — I will definitely go back to Chroma, Tenille did a great job!

I had a very good facial here. I have skin that is acne prone, yet dry and had no problems breaking out afterwords or feeling like sandpaper. I absolutely plan on coming back. The only downside of this place is that it has a very small waiting area and you can be seated in an awkward position.
There is some parking in the lot behind, but the restaurant next door is quite busy at lunch so keep time in mind when trying to park.
