This small business serves up customer service coupled with advice along with a nice selection of fabric. I took Sue’s beginner quilting class last April and have been hooked ever since. Luckily, I live local and can pop in often. It’s like, cheers they always know their customers name!

if you sew, quilt or do crafts that require frabic or ribbon this is the place to go. the selection is incredible’ with what seems like a million bolts of fabric (the owner, Pat told me it is more like 10,000). the amazing colors and patterns are so pleasantly displayed. I wantedto buy a yard of each. customer service is excellent too. shortly after I arrived I was greeted by a very pleasant lady who asked if she could help me. (I have never been asked this question in the chain stores!) After listening to what I was looking for she made a PERFECT suggestion for my project and took me to the spot where me to the fabric. the place was full of activity with sewing and quilting classes going on. i peeked in at them, and it was obvious thst they have state of the art equipment. Reading their newsletter I discovered they offer a wide variety of classes for all skill levels. while I waited at the register I watched the owner assist a customer in making a beautiful ribbon for a fall wreath. this is such a nice place.

I never considered myself a «crafty» individual, but ever since I purchased my first Blythe doll (aka «the gateway into obsessive sewing») I was determined to learn how to thread those needles and make those gorgeous dresses everyone in the doll community is genius at creating. My mother (one of those crafty geniuses) surprised me with a ride out to Ryco to pick up unique fabric.
Firstly, I need to mention that the ladies who work here are crazy welcoming and treat guests like they’re part of a big family. Stepping into a fabric outlet was a little intimidating at first but they were readily and happily available to share advice, provide recommendations and offer any help needed.
They have a huge selection of unique and eclectic fabrics! It felt like I was browsing forever to decide since I found so many I loved! I love their stocked and colourful shelves of Cotton & Steel brand designs: definitely what I was looking for and ended up choosing.
The prices are extremely reasonable and comparable to the other fabric stores we went to these past couple weeks. (However I will say that since I’m making doll clothes for a personal hobby, anything I purchase ends up being a ½ a yard or less.)
Personally I prefer Ryco over Lorraine for my specific needs (more on that laters). I will definitely point out that the basic essentials (ie, scissors and so forth) are better purchased elsewhere, especially places that give out coupons like candy (i’m lookin’ at you Michaels and Jo-​ann).

The vintage sewing machines scattered throughout the displays are a nice touch.
I absolutely love this place both for the amazing selection and the wonderful little community it’s created. I can’t wait to go back!

Holy Cow.
Way in the back of a run-​down mill complex is the most orderly fabric store I’ve ever seen. I went solely to buy hundreds of yards of ribbon and was almost overwhelmed at the colors and styles available to me (all arranged by color/​width/​material). You could either cut your own length at the various stations around the store, or buy full spools. I ended up with 200 yards of 3 gorgeous colors for around $ 30.
I’m not a craft person, but years of going with my mom to shop for fabric and quilting supplies enabled me to appreciate the huge selection and tidiness of this store. I’m not in the loop so I can’t speak for the prices, but I would imagine that even if they were high (which others have said they’re not) the selection and ease with which you can navigate the store is worth something.
If you sew and have never been here, you need to check it out!

Meh. I went for the HUGE! FANTASTIC! Annual sale and left sort of wishing I had skipped it.
The inventory is huge but for a modern quilter such as myself, the selection isn’t that great and quite a lot of it is pretty dated.
Prices aren’t any cheaper than the local quilt shops for new quilting cottons and you’ll most likely wreck the suspension of your car driving through the parking lot.
Over all, if you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out but I don’t think I’d make a special drive just for them again.

This place is hard to find, but once you do find it it’s totally worth it. Look for the purple door.
It is HUGE in there and is laid out so beautifully. It is not what you would expect from an outlet store. It is very open and well organized, so you don’t feel overwhelmed and will have an easy time finding what you’re looking for.
They also have sewing classes, quilting circles, and a lot of other stuff going on. I’ve only been in here once, but I have a feeling that a lot of cool people are in and out of here quite often.
Everyone that works here is super nice and helpful. I know where to go if I ever have any crafting needs again in the future!

I love RYCO unabashedly. If this business were ever to close, I’d cry many, many bitter tears over the loss of it. The fire at the Carrington mill complex next door this past Halloween made me quake in my boots, and pray to God that RYCO would be spared. Luckily, it was, and I hope to see RYCO up and running for many years to come. Granted, that’s a lot of invested emotion for a fabric store, but this particular fabric store is very, very deserving in my opinion.
Since I rediscovered RYCO about a year and a half ago, I haven’t been able to stay away. RYCO’s selection of trim, lace, and ribbon is absolutely unbeatable and unmatchable in this region. Jo-ann’s, Lorraine Fabrics, and even Sewfisticated have nothing on the pricing, quality, and selection of laces, cording, trims, and ribbon that RYCO offers. It really doesn’t get much better for an alternative fashion seamstress whose sewing world revolves around a steady supply of beautiful lace and quality ribbons.
I’m not much of a quilter, but even I am consistently in awe of RYCO’s selection of high quality quilting fabrics by nice brands like Robert Kaufmann, Moda, and Kona, all offered at what seem to be reasonable prices. RYCO’s pricing on all other fabric types (apparel, home decorating, etc) is fairly average, and they don’t always carry the full range of buttons or apparel fabrics that I’d like, but their other strong points more than compensate for their shortcomings. RYCO has a steady stream of sewing classes that one can sign up for, and it’s always possible to plop down in their back room and sew to your heart’s content. Unlike the big box stores that mostly push new machines, RYCO has a beautiful array of refurbished vintage sewing machines for sale, which I appreciate wholeheartedly.
The staff at RYCO are always friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They are never too busy to help you find something (in a rather massive and full building space, might I add), and are very knowledgeable about their stock. Even though I come in dressed more than a little funky at times, the staff is really fashion-​friendly, and I’ve always been treated as a valuable customer.
All in all, RYCO gets 5 starts, and probably deserves even more that that.

This wasn’t your ordinary fabric store. When walking in someone is there to great you and the whole place has this feeling of interaction and openness. I had already purchased what I needed at another store but I could have found good options here
They have a set up in the back in which they offer classes. My favorite was a poster which explained how to make a tutu. I literally learned just by reading it. This place is amazing and very helpful for people just winging it like myself. I just wish it was closer to home.
It has tons of buttons, trimmings, ribbons, lace, and tulle fabrics along with the usual fabrics. I was specifically looking for embellished fabric which they didnt have any of but it was great to look around and see everything they offered.

They have a great selection of ribbons and trims. This is the go to place for those things as well as netting, which they have in any color you can imagine.
They also offer a number of sewing classes and offer a teacher’s tea a couple of times during the year to allow you to visit and ask questions and see the samples of the projects they are teaching.
It is not easy to find, but worth the effort.

Unbelievable amounts of ribbon.

You must understand, RYCO gets five stars, maybe 6, at what it does. What RYCO does is very specific. This is not a regular fabric store or a regular craft store. RYCO is a true factory outlet focusing on trims and quilting fabric. You will never, ever see a better selection of these items at a better price.
RYCO does not have a great or consistent selection of standard fashion or evening wear fabrics. Just go to Lorraine’s for that stuff.
But if you want to make glorious artistic quilts or need fringe and sparkles for your bridal gown, fancy curtains, or burlesque costume don’t bother heading anywhere else. RYCO stocks fringe, beaded fringe, rhinestones by the yard, lace, ruffle lace, ribbon of all kinds, sequins, stretch sequins, and wonderful concoctions of organza, elastic, and flowers (???). They have more than anyone. And the products cost HALF as much as other stores charge.
You measure and cut all trims yourself at RYCO – once you learn the system it’s not a bother. There are tons of measuring stations and never a wait. Added bonus: at check out, they tie your shopping bag with a bit of ribbon.
Their motto, «We’re hard to find but worth it,» definitely rings true on your first visit – the Carrington Street turn is hard to see. You’ll wonder what terrors await as you drive down the hill into this old mill complex. No posh mill rehabs here. You might see scary doll heads in the clearance bins outside the front door. But when you get inside the main store, acres of beautiful materials spread out before you – the millllllll is alive with the glint of seeeeee-​quins.
Like Salmagundi accessories in JP, you gotta hold onto your wallet in this place, and come with a friend the first time. It’s very exciting. I personally got a little light headed and totally over-​bought.
