Iasan & Sebastian Studio Salon

I got assigned to a fairly new hairdresser named Taylor, and she sure has a lot of potential.
I just moved to Lincoln not too long ago and I was nervous about getting my hair done somewhere completely new. I chose I&S because of the great reviews they received from satisfied customers.
Taylor is a very sweet person and she listens carefully. I wasn’t even sure what color I wanted to dye my hair. I explained to her that I wanted a balayage blend and she did a great job for having an indecisive client! :)
She picked a blonde tone that blended in with my skin and made my eyes pop. I’ve been to a lot of salons, and hairdressers always do too bright of a blonde on me. Taylor did it just right. She also layered my hair just wonderfully!
Also, since I’m new in town, I was a little late because of the lack of parking outside of the salon. I don’t know his name, but he was working at the front desk. He gave me quarters to help me pay for the parking meter and offered me some water. He was so friendly and his welcoming presence was a nice way to come into the salon.
One little thing bugged me, however. I’ve been to a quite a few salons and most hairdressers should be aware of the kind of comments/​compliments they should make in front of clients. It should be kept professional and of course, whatever you say should convince the client to come back to the business for service.
As Taylor was washing my hair, one of the hairdressers approached us, telling Taylor how pretty my color was going to come out. She adds, «if it looks good wet, it’ll look great dry.»
But as she walks away, she then adds, «Wait, that’s not true.»
Taylor was confused by the comment. Then, the hairdresser comes back over and explains to Taylor — right in front of me – how good hair looks wet depending on the color; something like, «if it looks good wet, it’ll look good dry… but oh, if it looks great wet, it’ll look great regardless.»
With me being a new client getting my hair done by a new employee, that hairdresser had me nervous that my hair color didn’t turn out. I was honestly worried it wasn’t a good color.
I understand that maybe it wasn’t her intention, and maybe she was just being honest and informative. But for common sense’s sake, you just don’t say that kind of stuff to a client, especially if they’re new.
If I want know how my hair looks wet, I’ll ask.
Other than that, I’ll definitely be seeing Taylor again. If you’re looking for natural tones, blends, and long layered haircuts, I recommend giving Taylor a shot.

5 stars for the salon. It’s hip, open, full of light and comfortable. 1 star for my stylist who indeed did a pretty good job on a partial highlight. She was by far the most silent hairstylist I have ever met. She did not speak — at all — even when I prompted her. It’s not fun for either of of us to sit in a chair for hours but it’s pretty easy to pass time with light conversation. All around me I heard fun banter from 5 other stylists and their clients and silence in my stall. Bedside manner goes a very long way. If you want to sit in silence for 2 hours book Makenna, if not beware!!!

This is probably one of the best hair salons in Lincoln– as long as you get a director, bring pictures, and repeat what you want (and don’t want) specifically. I’ve found Madi, Kyla, and Michelle to be amazing at cutting hair.
My main issue with this salon is that the hair stylists sometimes seem to give you the hair color THEY think will look good instead of what you ask for (and charge you for it). Somehow, «a small number of dark-​brown low-​lights with a subtle auburn tint» translated into «bright, fake red coloring all over, starting at the roots, so it’s almost impossible to remove.»
Later, with a completely different stylist whom I’d come to really trust, I thought I’d try hair color one more time. Unfortunately, this time, «subtle dark-​brown low-​lights» translated into «brown AND blonde highlights.» On the up-​side, I was able to get it fixed for free, and the stylist was extremely kind, professional, and accommodating about it.
Of course, I never got my money back for any of the hair coloring I had never asked for, though. Moreover, discovering that my hair had been changed to colors I disliked (without my permission) and then having to get it fixed cost me both time and tears.
So why would I go back? The hair CUTS. The director stylists are extremely good at cutting hair. Although you might sometimes roll a «2» with this salon, you’ll more often roll a «7» or an «8″– which beats the «4 — 6» average of the rest of Lincoln’s more amateur stylists. The fact that the I? S stylists always seem to be continuing their education also appeals to me. Just be cautious about color, keep your descriptions very specific, and never rely on the word «subtle» to convey your meaning.

LOVE this place! I have been thrilled with the service and care I get from Michelle. My hair color is exactly what I wanted, and every time I go in, she works with me to ensure that the cut is doing what I want from it. Highly recommend I? S to anyone looking for great cut and color in Lincoln!

Great place for mens cuts. Every time I have gotten a haircut somewhere else because I either forget my appointment or had a meeting, I have paid the price. Service is great.

Until I went to Iasan & Sebastian I hated getting my hair done. I have long hated the smell, ambiance and general population of most hair salons. I? S has been the answer to my life long hope.
Megan W is an amazing stylist who listens to your needs and makes your hair wishes come true. I’m not a major beauty queen or a woman who spends a great deal of time on her «look» Megan knows this and works to make sure my long hair is the perfect color and the perfect cut so all I have to do is wash it and dry it.
Megan works well with thick hair. I know they do wedding hair and lots of amazing work with fashion designers. I probably don’t NEED to have this level of expertise working on my hair, but I do and I am so glad.
Megan also gave my hubby a great style. Moving him from a hippy guy into a more professional hair style he could live with when he switched jobs. My 65 year old mother also loves the place.
Great staff, great products. Reminders via text is wonderful. They do an amazing job.

Pretty expensive, but worth the price. My experiences have always been pleasant, and I’ve never left with a style I didn’t love.

I just had my hair colored by Caitlyn, she did a fabulous job! I brought in a picture of the color I wanted and she matched it perfectly. I have been receiving tons of compliments on my hair. The color I had put in my hair was a vibrant red with blonde highlights. Many people have even asked me if it was my natural color! Usually I travel out of state for my hair color to be done, but not anymore! Thanks Caitlyn!

They did a great job with my seven year old daughter’s hair. The stylist listened to what we were looking for (mostly helping it grow out from a previous cut) and offered some great suggestions. Definitely worth the few extra dollars for someone to do it right.

I’m a 3^rd year medical student & always traveling around to different cities. With that said, my haircuts have been inconsistent to say the least. I learned about I? S from my trainer at CrossFit Lincoln. He didn’t say much about it but let me tell you, this place treats you right. I made an appoint for 2:45 at noon and waited only a few minutes before being seen by the stylist. The reception was warm and offered me water and coffee. Tyla worked on my hair and long story short I left everything in her professional hands. After a relaxing shampoo she spent a few minutes asking me about what I wanted and she gave me her input which was very enlightening on what sort of cut would suit my particularly odd hairline (many cowlicks!). She went to work and displayed some very technical styling skills and her attention to detail was impeccable. We made small talk as she very deliberately took each lock and sniped it to its full potential. I was out within the hour and was happy to be in a relaxed atmosphere, there was no pressure on me to buy product I didn’t use or need (huge pet peeve!). Its unfortunate I’m only in Lincoln for 6 weeks otherwise I? S would be my go to place for my haircut. As for the price its more expensive than a Great Clips but the level of skill the stylist have is a cut above the rest! Don’t hesitate or think twice!

One of the best salon experiences I’ve ever had. You get a drink when you come in, and it’s a very relaxing experience. I had Michelle, who was very helpful (she’s up in Omaha now at Bungalow 8). I have longer hair, and I feel way out of place every time I go into a barber in Nebraska and I don’t ask for them to shave my head, but Michelle was very helpful, and got a great cut.
It’s a little pricey, but you’ll get a cut that’s worth what you pay.

I LOVE this place. Plan on your cut taking longer than a typical salon, sometimes close to an hour, because they’re going to give you a precision haircut. I’m totally jaded now, I have yet to find a salon that puts that much pride in their work. Very cool place — prices are little high for Lincoln, but that’s because you get twice as much chair time. Highly, highly recommend this place!

The best salon ever. Casey is the best. If not Casey than Michelle or Madi. I’ve never left here disappointed. This is a profession and an art for these guys — not a job. This is a high end salon — and that’s the service you will be getting :)

I went to I? S after purchasing a Living Social deal a while back. I had been wanting to give this place a try, and when I saw the great Living Social deal, I snatched it up and made an appointment.
I arrived at the salon about 10 – 15 minutes before my appointment, and they offered me a beverage while I wait. From the start, everyone I came into contact with at I? S was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and helpful.
I had made an appointment for a cut and some highlights, and was very excited to get something light and fresh for summer. My appointment was with Michelle, and right from the start I knew she was passionate about what she does, and really wanted to make sure I got a look that would match my style and attitude. We discussed what I was thinking about for color, and I asked for her suggestions. After a good chat, we decided on some highlights and she left to mix the color.
The whole process was really easy and relaxing. We had good conversation, and I enjoyed listening to her background. I learned right away that she had an intense passion for color. You could tell this stylist was a true artist. She told me that she chose to work for Iasan and Sebastian because they encourage you to be an artist, and they allow her to go to seminars and training sessions to keep up with trends and new techniques. Apparently, this is rare (especially in the state of Nebraska). Most places won’t allow you to take off work, even if it means you will be gaining knowledge to bring back to the salon. She told me all about her recent trips to New York to study color and techniques with Tigi, and you could really tell how happy her work makes her.
I was here for about two hours, and I have to say I am IN LOVE with my color. It’s beautiful, and my visit was about a month ago, and my highlights still look vibrant, and go great with the natural lightening of my hair from the summer sun. She did an EXCELLENT job!
The only reason for my 4 star, is I was not in love with the cut. Don’t get me wrong, Michelle was AWESOME I just have some thick, curly/​wavy hair that needs some serious help. I have a hard time finding stylists who cut it to enhance the curls/​waves. I will probably just give another stylist a shot next time I need a cut.
Having said that, my experience here was over all wonderful! I will DEFINITELY be back to I? S, and will always use Michelle when I need some new color. I will probably just be giving some of the other stylists a try for cuts.

This is an excellent salon – why waste your time anywhere else? Locally owned, with excellent, trained staff that really listen to what you want.

Excellent salon! I was immediately greeted at the door and offered coffee while I waited. Although, I arrived early I had nearly no wait.
My stylist, Casey, was extremely pleasant to talk with. I came in with no idea what I was looking for and left with an amazing new look. She made sure that during the entire process I understood what she was doing and how to style it myself.
Not only did she give me an astounding haircut, but she also helped me out with makeup. Casey proved to be extremely professional, nice, and informative. I left knowing exactly what needed to be done to maintain my new look.
I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

I was new to town, moved from San Francisco. It’s apparent from the time you walk in that there is attention to providing excellent service. Got a great haircut from Casey. She knew her trade well and was also interesting to talk to during the trim. I happen to have a great head of hair to start with ;-), but I got the impression that if I needed to fix my hair in some way, that she would be a good consultant – I’ll have to let others weigh in on that. Considering the high-​end salon experience, the cost was extremely reasonable.

I had to find a new salon after to I moved to town from about an hour and a half away. I found I&S on Unilocal,it was rated with 5 stars but had only 1 review.
What a great experience I had! Upon entering, I immediately noticed the contemporary and clean atmosphere. The guy at the front counter (who I was later told is one of the owners) greeted me immediately and asked if I was Wade. I told him yes, and he asked if I would like something to drink while I waited.
I had arrived about 20 minutes early, and didn’t have to wait until my appointment start time. After about 5 minutes, I was greeted by my stylist, Casey. Wow! What a great experience! I told her what I was thinking as far as a haircut, and she offered her suggestions from a professional standpoint. She is a true collaborator. She waited to gain my agreement before starting to cut my hair. Very friendly and talkative and made me feel comfortable as a first time visitor.
What made the visit a 5-​star experience was her willingness to try something new. My stylist in the city I had just moved from had a technique for waxing my nose hairs, lol. She placed a small amount of wax on the end of a popcicle-​like stick and stuck it in my nosteril, waited for the wax to harden, and *yank!* It’s a very invigorating experience, if you’ve never had it done — it clears the nasal passageways and helps you breathe easier. Casey told me she hadn’t done it before but was up for the challenge. She nailed it the very first try.
Will definitely be back to see Casey for more cuts, styles, colors, and YES, a good nose wax!
