I have been coming to Elder for the last 25 years, and I don’t even live in town any more. I first encountered them when I wanted a ring appraised, and when I haven’t had a local jeweler wherever I was living, I’d bring things here(to get fine gold chains repaired, etc.). Repair work is very affordable and they will resize rings for you(this costs extra if a piece is heavily discounted but is still very reasonable). I stop in once a year now for their Black Friday sales. It’s a little tiny place, but I always find something, and they remember me, even though I only come once a year. They always have some good deals on rings, and they keep freshwater pearls(bracelets; necklaces; various colors available) in a little display case on the wall. They have a few estate items, and they do «family» jewelry(different colored stones for each child, etc.) in addition to diamonds(rings, earrings, etc.) and watches. Men’s jewelry too. Some very affordable sterling rings there this year, and they had some lovely colored gemstone bracelets this year, together with a 50% off Black Friday coupon special. Also available as a special was a practical and affordable set of 7 different colored pearl post earrings. They’re nice people and if you’re looking for a friendly local jeweler who will provide conscientious and personal service, you’d found it. Parking in front if you’re coming from downtown; from the other direction, turn on 31st Street and turn into the small alley to either drive through to the front or park in one of the two spaces in back of the building.
