The Sara’s Sweets Cupcake Counter is now open! The counter is located inside the Pears Avenue store downtown Lima at the Met Block, with 8 – 10 varieties of cupcakes and other treats available each Wednesday and Saturday. Flavors and specials are posted on Facebook weekly.

I’ve always loved to bake. I grew up helping my mom in the kitchen — baking chocolate chip cookies for my uncle’s birthday, crème de menthe cake every Christmas, and fresh rolls for every family get-​together… we were always whipping up something. After working in a bakery for several years in high school & college, I knew I had a passion for baking.

After graduating college and making Lima my home, my excitement for baking grew. And so began my love affair with cupcakes. The entire process — from developing new flavors, to mixing the batter, and finishing with that perfect swirl of frosting — is therapeutic to me. Each day that I spend in the kitchen is pure joy, and nothing makes me happier more than delivering cupcakes or a sweet treat to a smiling customer.

I am excited for the growth of Sara’s Sweets in the near future, and I am looking forward to serving the Lima community for many years to come.
