Malcolm Cunningham Hyundai

Car salesmen have a very bad reputation, and regrettably Malcolm Cunningham Hyundai, is one of the reasons for this reputation. I have to accept my fair share of the blame in dealing with Carlos over the period of two weeks there were several red flags and I chose to ignore them or work through them and for that I accept my blame; however, it amazes me the pervasive attitude at this dealership that they are all smarter than every single person who walks through the door. I was treated to fast talk, dodging of questions, scams, games, and out right lies. I had originally come in to view a used vehicle they had listed. I test drove it, and liked what I saw, in addition I liked what I hear about the services being offered so the next day I called Carlos (my salesman) back and told him I would like to go ahead with the deal and would place an application online. The initial application was taken by a different salesperson named Sal, and after that was somehow lost I gave it again and was told by Carlos that in his professional opinion the bank would not approve me for that car but he could work a deal on a different car altogether (one mind you I had no desire what-​so-​ever to be put in) I told him I was not interested but would keep an eye out in case I saw a vehicle on their website that fit what he said would be required and call him back (mind you I have since learned this technique is completely illegal). Carlos proceeded to blow my phone up repeatedly till I finally gave him a second chance, and suggested we try on a different vehicle; however, I told him I did not want to make the hour long trek back to their location without knowing for sure it was a deal so he said he would run some numbers and get an approval. I told him that I liked the vehicle but felt the price was too high and wanted to discuss and offer, which he dodged that question repeatedly trying to insist we needed an approval first. He finally told me that he wanted to approval first because the bank my insist on a lower price, now mind you I found this extremely suspect, but wanted the vehicle so apparently let common sense go out the window. this was a Tuesday, on Wednesday Carlos called me back and told me to come in and make sure I liked the car. I asked if we had an approval he said yes. I asked what the terms where and he refused to tell me, I asked several times and he would ignore the question all together, or finally told he me was not allowed to give that out except in person (this is a lie and refusing is not legal). I grudgingly agreed but reiterated to him that I was not interested in the vehicle at the advertised price and if I came down there and I found out we were way off base on this I was going to be upset and would still walk away. He said not to worry just bring my down payment. I stated he would not tell me the terms so how could I bring my down payment when I did no know what it was, and he stated that we had agreed to put it in at $ 1000 but more would be ok if I had it. I told him I would come on Friday, I spoke with him Friday to confirm, and then texted him to let him know I was on my way, having gotten off work early to make the trip. We drove an hour and upon arrival everything immediately starting getting worse. The car was not on the lot, and was off with another «customer» I never saw and allegedly they were close to an offer (despite the fact that we allegedly already had one). We waited 45 minutes to drive the vehicle, came back and I stated I wanted to move ahead lets talk price and details. I then sat and waited another 45 minutes while he chatted with some one for him to «get everything together». When he came back with the details the price he was offering was ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS MORE!!! (this for the record is also illegal) stated the bank was charging $ 1000 fee to process the loan, I stated they should just swallow that, and he stated they couldn’t come off the advertised price as that price was break even, then even the down payment was double. SCAM ARTISTS. Wasted time. DO NOT USE

Worst experience ever. I’ve lost all faith in the car industry.
First, let me start off by saying a I purchased what I thought was a certified pre-​owned car from this dealership when it was O’Brien Hyundai. I was given a nice little CPO package telling me of all my benefits, a carfax report, and the CPO 150 point inspection checklist. 2.5 years after buying the car, the engine failed to accelerate while driving down the road at 75,000 miles. I took it to this dealership, now Malcolm Cunningham. They said I needed a whole new engine – at 75,000 miles.
Even though I strongly disagreed, I had a full warranty on the car, so i wasn’t paying for a new engine anyways. Turns out, they didn’t have my warranty because the incompetent salesperson, Dwayne Palmer, Sr., didn’t fill out the paperwork. This not being the place I actually bought the car, they couldn’t do anything for me and I had to jump through hoops to contact the former owners, O’Brien to get my warranty issues resolved.
One month later, my warranty issues are resolved, and the dealership has yet to install a new engine (it’s been 2 weeks since the warranty issue has cleared). I constantly have to babysit the service department and Hyundai claims center, being the communicator between the two. Malcolm Cunningham tells me one thing, I call the Hyundai claim center and they have different information. I am constantly calling one or the other to make sure paperwork was turned in, make sure the estimate was done, etc.
Ultimately, what it boils down to is this: 1. service department has terrible communication skills. 2. if you need any service on your vehicle, plan on it being a while. And no, I did not get a courtesy vehicle. They said they were all out, so plan on ubering everywhere because they were no help with this either.
All I want is the engine to be fixed so I can sell this piece of crap car. What kind of engine fails after only 75,000 anyway? LEMON ALERT!

Service advisor Mike was real friendly but the department needs help. Took vehicle in for a wiring issue and did not get my old part back. I don’t feel like I was treated fairly in that matter.
Also had the oil changed and it was dripping oil when I got home. The guy changing my oil apparently did not care to clean up his mess.
The last part was the complimentary car wash although it was free there were areas the washer missed behind the front and rear wheels.
Overall I think the department could use a little more customer service training.

This was my first car I purchased and I got used and took for everything I had. First off after previous experiences at other dealerships I told them that I didn’t want to come out there if couldn’t get approved for a car. I told the dealer I had $ 1500 to put down and I wanted to keep my payments under $ 300 per month. I was told by the dealer (Justin) that I was approved for some cars already. There wasn’t a bus to go out there but Justin was nice enough to come and get me and bring me to the dealership. I live in the southside of Atlanta which is about a 45 minute drive. We arrived there at 12:30/1:00pm. Justin helped me print out my check stubs and I used my bank statement to show my mailing address (big mistake!) Next thing I know I am sitting in the waiting room pretty much looking stupid. I was brought out 2012 Nissan Sentra, didn’t qualify for that. Next a 2008 Toyota RAV4 and when I told them I wasn’t interested in that car. Justin disappears and leaves, classy right?! Never saw him again for the rest of the day. Now when Justin left a dealer named Wuan (I think I spelled that right) came and tried to distract me from my irritation of my wait. So now I’m stranded and definitely feeling pressured to by a car to get home. As the day go on they bring out 2 other cars 2012 Chevy Cruz with extremely high mileage, 2014 Hyundai Accent (couldn’t get it because it was a stick shift.) Some of their customers in the waiting room began to talk to me and told me I should leave, and I should have listened. They were even going to the dealer asking why are they taking so long to get me a car. Now it about 8 o’clock so it dark. I have been in the dealership for almost 8 hours! I was so annoyed but They finally bring out a 2012 Toyota Corolla S, I test drove the car and The bank accepted my offer. Finally right! Wrong so Wuan and I are about to get started on my paperwork and the finance lady comes out and says the bank accepted my 1500 down and got my payments to 298 for a 66 month loan. She then asked me about car insurance and that I could use Allstate who was located in the back. I told her I already had insurance paid for with State Farm. Next thing I know I am being told that I have to get Allstate or I am going to have to put $ 1785 down on the car. Huh?! I realized Justin told her I had and extra $ 300 in my account. At this point it’s like 9:30pm I was ready to go home so I just dealt with it and gave them the money. I was there so late the dealership was closing and in the finance office the guy was nice. My interest rate was very high and the dealership also has a $ 599.99 dealers service fee. I am just like wow really? I don’t think I can do this, the finance lady hears me say that and comes in and says you will not get a better deal. Your have never financed anything and no one is going to approve you. This is the best deal you are going to get. No one else will accept you, she was very aggressive. So basically I am paying $ 21,543 for a $ 11,243 car. At this point it’s 10:30, I sign the paperwork and go home in my car. The next day I go to my car and notice my car is covered in little dents obviously this car has hail damage and even have paint chipping off the hood., and the paint was worn in a lot of spots. Why was I not informed of this and why am I paying full price for a hail damaged car?! I was furious but I knew that there was nothing I could do about. Every bit of this deal was uncomfortable and forced, I never saw a car fax to even to see what was all done to the car. Hmmm I wonder why? Let me be the example if you this is your first car don’t come out there, most definitely not alone. Especially if you never financed anything.

I had looked at a vehicle online here after getting in a horrific accident. Being carless when they called to want me to come in and test drive I told them that I would have to come on a day when I had a ride. They offered to pick me up and if I didn’t buy the vehicle to take me back home. Well I decided not to purchase today because I felt the price was too high and they wouldn’t come down. So then they informed me that I would need to call über to get back to my side of town. I will not be purchasing any future vehicles from this Hyundai just based on not following through with their first promise.

In the morning we contacted the dealership about two different used cars. We explained we lived 40 miles away. We were told us they would have them waiting when we got there. We arrived at the appointed time and they only had one car they could find, it was the most expensive of the two. After test driving that one, we wanted to see the other car. We waited 45 minutes to only find out it was lent out to a customer to drive.
The vehicle we were looking at was a 2015 (one year old) with 25,000 miles on it. A very hight mileage used car. According to Kelly Blue book it was worth 12K. They told us the internet price was 14 600, and the price on it was 14 900. When we started to discuss the price, we were told the internet discount was the only discount they would give us.
So after driving for 45 minutes in traffic, test driving and waiting around for 1 ½ hours we left to go home without a car.
P. S. We contacted another dealership on the way home and ended up spending 1800 more and getting a new car with 8 miles on it.

I’ve come to this dealership before to get service. The first time I had no issues. Even this time, upon arrival everyone was really nice, offering coffee and water. When I spoke to someone before coming in, they said my service would take no more than 2 hours. Two hours in I checked on the status of my car. They had not even checked to see if they were able to complete the service yet. Over three hours later, I was still waiting. I finally spoke with someone who said they just figured out they could fix what I brought my car in for. The person who talked to me could tell I was frustrated, so a few minutes later the manager comes to talk to me. He explains what was taking so long, stating I should have been aware that the process could take half a day. He apologized and said he’d give me a coupon for a free oil change because of the inconvenience. He was very nice about everything, which is why they get three stars. If you come here for a service, be prepared to wait, and confirm how long you’ll be there.

I bought a car from here in October 2012 and I am still so happy and excited that I did. When I come to have my car service, I get top notch service. The staff are very professional and courteous. I can’t say enough about the superior experience I received from MCH.

I purchased a used 2013 Hyundai Veloster through this dealership and so far im very happy with it. I gave this dealership 2 stars because they advertised one price, but when it came time to draw up the price they tried to add a Document fee on top of the list price. Document fees are legal if they are included in the original listing. This was not the case. I took me leaving for them to quickly take the $ 600 fee off the list price. By Document fees i am not talking about tax, tag and title. This is a separate item. Keep an eye on the price don’t let them sneak this giant fee in on you.
Update: The dealership contacted me about the negative review where i stated they added the dealer fee on top of their advertised price. I told them I would give them an extra star and state they contacted me. I still disagree with how they initially handled the fee, but they did take the fee out of the listed price.

If you need a car this is the place to go. I just bought my second car at Malcolm Cunningham Hyundai at Stone Mtn Hwy — a 2015 Hyundai Elantra. You are never pushed into something you don’t want, they are there to make your car buying experience stress free and pressure free. They are very professional, friendly and a personable crew. I am so pleased with the whole experience and will always go back to that dealership for my purchases. I am a Hyundai customer for life. I think of all past experiences throughout my life purchasing cars and by far they are hands down the Best! Lawrence Ivery, Rodney Harrell and Louis Morales are to be recognized for their superior customer service and are just Great people to know by far!

Be careful for this place, if you are new or never had experience before, you end up ripped off. They experienced with that.

I recently purchased my CPO 2013 Hyundai Elantra from Malcom Cunningham Hyundai and could not be happier. I had gotten the run around from quite a few dealerships and was ready to give up and just buy an junk car to get me around, this was my first car buying experience and I had very limited credit… When I came to Malcom Cunningham Hyundai I was not confident that I would be able to make one of their cars work for me price wise but they were able to be *extremely* fair with the price and did everything they could to get the financing through for me. I’m so gracious and would recommend that anyone looking for a car go talk to Lawrence Ivery at Malcom Cunningham. I love my little red car!

Received a notice for 2 recalls on my sonata. I made an online appointment for service. Wayne Wright (parts and services director) was a delight to work with. He was very helpful and my service was complete in a timely manner! I wasn’t waiting long, however, if I were. Waiting area and restroom were very clean! I was thoroughly impressed! Thanks for making my service experience memorable!

In life, there are a handful of places that tend to stress people out — the dentist office, hospital, DMV, and auto dealership come to mind.
Fortunately, our visit to Malcolm Cunningham Hyundai turned out to be a low stress auto dealership experience. After doing a ton of research online — sifting through numerous auto reviews, identifying incentives, and analyzing our financials — it was time to see the car in person and take it for a test drive. The salesmen weren’t pushy or disingenuous. They didn’t try to sneak in any hidden charges or fees. They gave a very fair offer on our trade-​in. They took the time to break down every single element of the auto loan contract in detail to make sure that we understood everything. That’s how good, honest business is done.
All of our research paid off, we were easily able to negotiate a fair value on our new car — a Hyundai Elantra Coupe. Awesome! Hopefully, their service department conducts themselves as well as their sales department. We’ll see.
