The Greenery Cafe

Delicious. We ordered for our office, and went to pick it up, so we didn’t get to enjoy the outdoor seating, but the food was very tasty!

It’s a tiny little place in a residential neighborhood, but don’t let that fool you. The food is fantastic. You really must try the potato salad! Best I’ve ever had, any where.

This place was awesome! A real tucked away gem in a local neighborhood. I ordered the avocado wrap. It’s refreshing to get an assortment of veggie options, especially when you’re traveling. Service was great for me but one person left cranky because he wasn’t being served like it was a fast food joint. My only criticism was they were out of a few things.

Love this place! Healthy doesn’t have to mean tasteless as this place exemplifies. I love the salmon croquettes… love the fact that they’re even offering this on their menu! They offer a wide variety of sides dishes (e.g. collard greens, namasu, etc.) and are delicious. And the brown rice w/​quinoa is spot on. Will definitely be returning whenever I visit Kauai. Recommendation: If picking up for take-​out, call ahead and place your order ahead of time as the wait time may take a while but the food is worth the wait regardless.

This place has delicious food. What a treat the Rosemary chicken is to the tastebuds. The ahi tuna wrap was my favorite with fresh veggies and flavorful seared tuna. The mango sunrise complimented the meals on a beautiful Kauai afternoon in their patio. Very nice people too.

I had a Rosemary chicken plate and husband had BBQ chicken plate, the chicken in both were very tasty. Both plates came with cornbread and two sides. We both had yams which were excellent, just the right amount of sweet. I chose green salad (yum! Happy to find no iceberg lettuce) and hubs had the black-​eyed peas which he liked. We ordered a side of collard greens– delicious. I also asked for avocado on the side, and I’m pretty sure I got a whole avocado. Overall the food was great. I’m looking forward to eating this same meal again and again!

We just ate their bbq chicken wrap and rosemary chicken salad. Both were very good. Chicken was moist and flavorful. They have a good selection of healthy drinks like raspberry lemongrass tea. Very refreshing. Just a few small tables and plastic chairs but it felt like home.

We stopped here on our way back to our hotel and discovered a lovely couple running this small café. Their attitude was enough to make us stay but the food was enough to have us come back. During our stay in Kauai my friend and I were unable to find good quality healthy cuisine. Most places had greasy oily pork infused dishes so imagine our excitement when we stumbled upon this lovely café! Clean healthy fresh food! We loved it so much that we came back for a second time before heading back to the airport!

Lunch at the Greenery Café is like eating in your grandmothers background. Tables and benches are strewn around the plants and shrubs. You make your order at the garden shed kitchen and the servers will bring your food to your table. I had a kale salad with additions of avocado and chicken. The salad was fresh and tasty but without the chicken would not have been enough for a lunch portion. Really enjoyed there lemongrass ice tea. If you need a break from the rush enjoy a quiet healthy lunch in at The Greenery Café.

This place is authentic Hawaiian garden outdoor dining, with delectable organic food. Delicious!

Awesome little café that’s behind a home. I ordered a hummus wrap and chocolate protein shake. Both were top notch! The hummus wrap was one of the best I’ve ever had! They use some of the freshest ingredients from their garden. Great for vegetarians. I found the prices to be very reasonable. I highly recommend giving this place a shot-​you won’t be disappointed!

Get the bbq chicken plate! Oh my gosh it’s so good. I got it with collard greens and quinoa. The portions were generous and I ended up having leftovers. Finally a healthy place to get lunch that doesn’t break the bank. They also have this coconut coffee drink that’s a must try also.

This place is so different. It’s literally a back house or guest house turned into a small restaurant with seating outside only (however, they did let me use their restroom: D)
This place is so reasonably priced for such fresh local ingredients. I feel like you can’t go wrong! The gentleman taking our order couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Really we just love this place. It’s a bit hard to find because, as I said, it is the «back house» on the property, but you’ll see the sign from the street. When you pull in, you can either park right in the front by the sign if there are spots available or you can drive to the back of the property.
The BBQ chicken wrap was INCREDIBLE! Just enough flavor but overall very light. No heavy sauces or overwhelming flavors.
The grilled cheese (we added BBQ chicken to it– custom style!) also INCREDIBLE!
The collard greens: A+
The side salad: fresh as could be!
And then the corn bread?! Oh… My. Good… Lord.
And the sweet potatoes could count as dessert! They’re THAT incredible. But again. Not TOO sweet. Just enough flavor.
Honestly if I could give this place 10/​10, 20/​20, 100÷100… You get the picture… I would, without hesitation.
My one tip– if you’re really hungry, order some sides to to go with your plate/​sandwich/​wrap.

My husband I came here on ¹⁰⁄₂₈ after reading about the all-​natural green smoothies in other reviews. As promised, the green smoothies were delicious and filling, and the young woman who served us was polite and happy to make recommendations.
The atmosphere was a little off-​beat, and I wasn’t into it. When we came by, it seemed more like we were crashing someone’s backyard barbecue than going to a café, and that’s the only reason I’m not giving it five stars.

Just landed in Kauai and our first stop was the Greenery. The food was awesome! What a pleasant surprise for such a small quaint place. My husband had the rosemary chicken and I had the barbecue chicken, it was the delish!
Back at home finding organic food is not easy.

Ate lunch here today with my husband and everything was delicious! I had the rosemary wrap with sweet potatoes and my husband had the grilled ahi and a salad. Sweet potato was out of this world and I loved that the chicken was organic! Be sure to ask for some home made BBQ sauce as it was delicious and I dipped it in everything!
Lunch was filling, healthy, and delicious. Staff was very friendly. The fact that this was is a cute backyard of a house only added to the charm. Be sure to stop by if you are in the area!

Finally stopped by after passing this place for so long. Bottom line: delicious healthy food at a reasonable price. I’m so happy I decided to give them a try. Needless to say, I’ll be coming back for more!

A neat little joint. Nice change of pace. Quiet little café in their back yard — Literally. Everything is light, freshly made, simple. All the ingredients seemed «real», natural, and clean.
I had the fried fish — seemed fresh, very meaty, thin breading. Ok, nothing special. The homemade oil/​lime/​herb dressing on the garden salad was very fresh and tasty, and the greens themselves were super fresh, with herbs mixed in. Wife’s rosemary chicken wrap was good, and fresh, again though not changing your life yummy. The owner brought out fresh-​cut local pineapple and lychee for us to try, nice touch, and just genuinely made us feel very welcome.

The Greenery Café is a lovely hidden gem tucked away behind a quaint house in Lihue close to the airport. While the covered patio area only accommodates two tables, it was the perfect place to enjoy a healthy meal before our flight and stay protected from the April rain showers.
I was compelled to order the salmon cakes as I haven’t eaten them in ages and for some reason they bring back the nostalgia of eating them during my childhood. Already a healthy option, the meal was made even better with the sides of sweet potato yams and kale salad. My father ordered the rosemary chicken wrap. It must have been good as my father didn’t leave any behind for me to sample. For dessert, we opted to try the coconut rice pudding. One of the ladies working at the café brought out the warm pudding in a little plastic to-​go cup. I was pleasantly surprised to find chunks of purple taro mixed in to the pudding which definitely makes it one of the most unique rice puddings I’ve eaten. I also appreciated that the pudding had just a subtle sweetness to it.
The café staff were all very friendly. I had a nice conversation with the man who took our order when he asked whether we were locals or visitors to the island. I also appreciate when restaurant staff take a genuine interest in their customers.
The Greenery Café has now been added to my list of local Kauai eateries I will return to on subsequent visits to the island.

This place was amazing! We were driving around exploring the island when we started getting hungry. Checked out Unilocal and found this place. It’s hidden in the back behind a house – hidden places are always the best. I ordered a rosemary chicken wrap, my mom a rosemary chicken salad, dad a rosemary chicken melt & husband the ahi wrap. Everything was DELICIOUS! We sat outside and just enjoyed ourselves. My mom kept raving about her salad and thought about ordering another to go but we weren’t heading back to the hotel.
If you’re staying on the island I definitely recommend this place for lunch. It’s not heavy food so you feel satisfied with a good meal and are ready for my island exploring.
