History

Established in 1980.

on Kauai, there were only two other businesses for massage on the island both were long standing male Shiatsu therapists, one Hotel Fitness Ctr with massage, and a couple of other female licensed massage therapists practicing at a nail salon or their homes. I later moved my office into the Kauai Athletic Club for 27 yrs until new owners moved the location in July ’12.

I’m grateful that Mana Massage has endured the rough economy and natural disasters through the years; my love and passion for what I’m offering is the key… I’m contributing to people’s lives! The Mana Massage Mission Statement I wrote decades ago: «To share the gifts of helping people connect with their inner joy and compassion, through bodywork and teaching to increase peace and love in individuals, our communities and our selves»; I still connect with this in my heart.

Practicing 34 yrs, founder/​director of Mana Massage, one of the first massage offices on Kauai. Initial studies began in the 70’s with Yoga — Integral Yoga Institute founded by Swami Satchidinanda, in ’80 on the Big Island of Hawaii with Hawaiian Lomilomi specialist and teacher «Aunty» Margaret Machado; Craniosacral ’87 (Upledger Inst.); Myofascial Rel ’91 (John Barnes) and more (see website).

My husband and I decided to try a couples massage. We trusted the reviews from this website as being very good. The idea of the outdoors and scenic area seemed like something relaxing and enjoyable. Not sure if if was just the time of the year, but there was a mosquito frenzy going on. We went on Sept 30, 2015 and upon arrival, mosquitoes got me while I was waiting for the therapist to come and get us. I did inform the therapist about the mosquitoes and asked if we would be «eaten up» since it was outdoors. Her response was «you, should be fine since you’ll be under the sheets». Not fine at all :(I understand that you can’t control nature, however, I’m sure they noticed the problem when setting up for the massage. They should have nets or treat the area for mosquitoes being that they are offering a relaxing, outdoor massage. The therapists did try to use some kind of scented oil to keep the mosquitoes away, but it did nothing. They were swatting and shooing while trying to give a massage. I’ve had many massages and this was the worst one, not only because of the mosquitoes, just the quality of the massage. I felt more jerked and pushed than worked on. I should have stopped the session. After the session I was surprised that they didn’t offer a discount due to the unpleasant environment or could’ve canceled it due to uncontrollable mosquitoes. They tried to make me feel better by telling me not to worry about diseases from the mosquitoes. We both got eaten up pretty bad, made the next few days quite uncomfortable. One more VERY important thing that they failed to do was offer WATER right after the massage!!! Especially they were informed this was my husbands first massage. Very disappointed and would not recommend this massage, especially for the price we paid :(…

My husband and I had an early flight into Lihue and had some time before we could check into our vacation rental, so we booked an oceanside massage with Mana Massage.
It was FANTASTIC.
I get massage work about every other week, so I’ve had a lot of massages. This one was truly excellent.
My husband and I are both «hurts so good» types when it comes to massage. Manima and her fellow massage therapist (sorry, I forget his name) both did excellent jobs of giving us firm, therapeutic deep tissue work while still making it deliciously relaxing. They very clearly know what they are doing, and we felt the whole time like we were in very good, competent hands.
We also weren’t sure if the oceanside location was worth the splurge. It definitely was. Listening to the crash of the ocean and feeling the island breeze while getting an excellent massage… such a lovely start to our vacation!
Manima was also very easy to communicate with via text message, which was super convenient for me.
I think we may have to make Mana Massage a tradition when we visit Kauai! Thank you, Manima and staff!

Prior to my recent trip to Kauai I suffered a neck and shoulder injury and needed some
Therapeutic massage to be able to enjoy my stay, go on a much anticipated all day hike and be myself again. Manima came to my hotel room on two separate occasions and was integral in my healing process. Her technique and intuitive touch was such a god sent for me and I was able to conquer The Top of the World hike by the end of my trip. So much gratitude for her. My husband and I booked a couple’s massage near the end of our stay on Kauai. The room’s location was odd (we could see past the window’s curtain into the parking lot while we were changing, and someone was receiving guitar lessons in the adjacent room), but we quickly forgot about all that once the massage started. It was HEAVENLY! There have been times when I have felt worse after receiving massages. That wasn’t the case with Amanda and the lomilomi style she used. Now that I’m back in California, I’m desperate to find someone who practices the lomilomi style. I also want to find coconut massage oil similar to what was used at Mana Massage, because it smells wonderful afterward!

Manima came to my room at the St Regis in Princeville on 2 separate days and provided amazing healing and massage services. We were scheduled to do aqua cranial but the waves on the North Shore were too big so since I didn’t feel like driving to a calmer beach we did additional sessions in the room. I love how considerate and honest she was about the water conditions. I practice several different forms of the healing arts so it’s very important for me to get good sessions regularily to recharge my battery. Manima’s sessions were complete bliss. The energy releases and cranial sacral unwinding I experienced were just heavenly. Thank you Manima!

My wife and I had a couples massage with Mana Massage at their home base in Lihue. It was located minutes from the airport and they operated out of the back cottage behind their home. They also offer massages on the beach and overlooking the Wailua River valley but that costs extra. The massage was relaxing and be both opted for the Lomi lomi since we have not had it yet. My wife states she could have used more pressure but she likes the painful deep tissue massages. I on the other hand like the gentler more rubbing massage. The price was reasonable and they would like cash payment if possible because it will get you a cheaper price. They will take card but will charge 8% more.

My husband and I had one last day left in Kauai before flying home on the Red Eye. We booked a couples massage outdoors, overlooking the Sacred Wailua River Valley. The location was amazing and the massages were the BEST EVER! We have both had many massages in the past and I can honestly say that these were the very best! Leslee and Laurel combined deep tissue and Lomilomi techniques so you come away feeling relaxed and not bruised. Getting to listen to the birds and hear the gentle breezes was a bonus. The location is perfect and very relaxing. Getting to shower after having our massages allowed us to have a wonderful dinner at Dukes before flying out feeling refreshed and ready to fall asleep as we flew back to reality. Thank you, ladies, for a wonderful experience! :)

I am so glad this place came highly recommended by fellow Unilocalers! Your reviews led my husband and I to this beautiful outdoor location and to a wonderful experience by two talented massage therapists.
We had come to Kauai for our Anniversary weekend (we live on Oahu) and with the stress going on in our day to day lives, a massage was at the top of our list. After talking to Manima, she was able to fit us in on short notice for a massage at their location overlooking Wailua Valley and river. Can you say breathtaking? The view alone and the location immediately put us at ease. This was my husband’s first time getting a massage and I think he’s hooked. The location is quiet, serene and secluded.
I did lomi lomi and he did some type of relaxation massage. They were receptive to the areas in our body that had more tension, and gently worked it out. I found myself doze off and fall asleep a couple times cause I was so relaxed. On our next visit to Kauai or if friends and family are visiting we will be back and we’ll highly recommend. Mahalo!

Manima (Leslee) is amazing. I had a two hour massage from her during my vacation in Poipu and she is truly a healer. I didn’t get the chance to get a massage in her outdoor location (which I really wanted) because my whole family wanted two hour massages at our villa. I wasn’t sure that we were going to be able to schedule 4 massage therapists for an outcall at the same time, but Manima was able to make it happen and coordinate everything. All four of us were very pleased with our massages — both my brother and I fell asleep either during or right after our massages. And my family is pretty hard to please with these kind of services.
In addition, paying 4 massage therapists through multiple payment methods (2 of them took credit card through their iphones, and the other 2 only took check or PayPal), so was a little confusing for me and I accidentally tipped Manima way too much. She actually called me and told me that she thought I might have miscalculated the tip, she is such an honestly and kind person — that was above and beyond. She could have easily kept the money and I would have never known the difference. But she actually returned a portion of the money to me via PayPal. She has the kind of business I love to support — she is honest, kind and provides an amazing service. Worth every penny.

After spending a week on the island, and were hours away from taking a red eye flight back home, my partner and I decided to look for a massage. We looked on Unilocal and found this place.
Within an hour, Leslie was able to get us in and give back to back massages. The treatment was soothing, and took away the aches. It helped me to be able to relax and sleep on the way home.
So, if you’re looking for a really good massage with someone who has a wonderful spirit and energy, try Mana Massage.

oh man, this was awesome. I had a massage outdoors at their property overlooking the Wailua River Valley. It was absolutely the best massage I have had in my life. No other way to describe it.
