Kukui Grove Center

This is the ‘mall’ if you’re on Kaua’i, and for a place so small it’s okay. They have some of your typical mall/​strip mall stores like Macy’s, GNC, Sunglass Hut, Gamestop, Claire’s, Sports Authority, Ross, Verizon, and Footlocker. There are also a few local stores (Deja Vu Surf, Jeans Warehouse — think of a lower-​end version of Forever 21), Long’s Drugs (CVS), and a fair number of eateries. If you’re looking for food I’d definitely recommend Deli and Bread. Other options include Sone’s, McDonald’s, Genki Sushi, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, and L&L.
My biggest complaint about this place is probably the fact that half of it seems vacant at any given time. Every time I’m back home, another store or restaurant seems to close down and it can be a while before a new one takes its place. I’ve been going to this mall since before I could even walk and majority of the stores that I grew up with are long gone. Hopefully they find a better way to utilize some of the space here!
If you’re in Lihue and need to kill some time, it’s not a bad place to walk around and maybe shop a bit. It gets SUPER busy with high school kids on Friday nights (I used to be one of them at one point), so I try to avoid it then but otherwise it’s a quiet little mall and has all the essentials you need on Kaua’i.

It’s getting better over here more shops more things to choose from.
Lots of empty stores around the mall.

This is Kauai’s little mall. It’s slowly coming up with new stores like Ross and Sports Authority. There’s a small food court and a little arcade and froyo place next to it.
Lots of clothes shops, sushi place, Macy’s, a few jewelery shops, shoe stores, Longs Drugs, Verizon, loan place, GNC, and Vitamin World.
Weekends bring deals from most of the stores, and some entertainment.
Attached is Kmart, Pier 1, Payless Shoes and America’s mattress.

Definitely a great little spot if you’re on vacay to grab some things. Such as a tshirt for ziplining. The Macy’s is pretty organized and not horribly merchandised like you’ll see at locations on the main land. One thing to note is that the Macy’s is separated by women’s and men’s since I guess you can’t build anything higher than a coconut tree (I love that, that’s a rule/​law.) Sone’s looks like a decent place for lunch.

Cute little mall. Took the shuttle there and noticed they’re building a Ross. Went to Kmart and saw some good deals plus it looked relatively clean compared to most I’ve been to. Food court area was spacious. First mcdonalds I’ve been to where there is no seating.
Longs drugs was nice and cool to see a Costco nearby in case one needs to kill time.

The Kukui Grove Center located in Lihue, Kauai seems to be the largest shopping center the island of Kauai has to offer its local residents and visitors. This very casual, open air mall features a couple of large department stores, gift shops and a handful of restaurants.
A listing of a few of their more memorable businesses we have frequented or remember passing by while at the Mall includes Sunglass Hut, Regis Salon, Vitamin World, Macy’s, General Nutrition Center (GNC), Jeans Warehouse, Genki Sushi, Deli and Bread Connection, Kim Chee #9, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, Famous Footwear and Longs Drugs.
A great place for the local residents or visiting guests to the island to grab a bite to eat, a few necessities or a gift or two. Don’t forget to support local!

First of all, we’re talking about a shopping center on Kauai. It has a sufficient amount of stores that offers the basics of what people need. There’s shoe stores, places to eat, grocery stores and super markets, local shops and department stores like Sears and Macy’s. It’s small and doesn’t have anything attractive about it but it’s there when you need to «shop». The downside is that you’ll most likely see someone else wearing the same piece of clothing as you while you’re out.

Okay, short and sweet review coz there’s nothing really here to review! Was here on Aug 2012, so hopefully business has picked up and they secured more leases.
Pros:
–The only real «mall» on Kauai. Has your Macy’s and Longs, with some surprising stores like Footlocker (or was it Champs??) etc…
–I like that it’s an outdoor mall, lot’s of spaces to roam and sit down
–Enclosed/​Indoor Fourt Court
Cons:
–Was like a ghost town. Maybe it’s the economy, but this mall was very sparse and a lot of the stores vacant. Was kind of depressing.

4stars for being THE shopping mall on Kauai. There are lots of stores and Costco, Kmart, and Home Depot are only a parking lot away. There are some great places to eat as well (bread and deli, jambs, Starbucks, etc.). For a small island, Kuki grove is perfect.

Being that this is one of the few malls on the fair island of Kauai, it’s one of the bigger ones there if not the biggest. I remember many a day being spent here in my high school days when I lived on the island and remember those good ol’ glory days (God, I’m old… Haha). Unfortunately a lot has changed about this place which I can’t say is necessarily good but there are still a few bright spots.
First the good:
–Nice variety of shops & eateries. Your typical & expected anchor stores such as Macy’s, Long’s, Sears, and Times Supermarket are here. They also have McDonald’s, Starbuck’s and a few small eating places too.
–Radio Shack for electronics is here, as well as Sears and to a certain degree Gamestop too. Thankfully the overlap between them is minimal, so you can actually go to each store and find something the others won’t have rather than seeing the exact same items at the same price.
–Decent amount of stores. I believe the mall is about 60% full of stores but more on this later…
Now the bad:
–As mentioned earlier, the mall is about 60% full of shops but there are many areas where there is completely un-​occupied space. A lot of these un-​occupied lots sit between Times Supermarket and extend toward Foot Locker.
–Most of the stores are relatively empty. This can be a good thing if you don’t like to deal with crowds but is a relatively bad thing as there really isn’t much to draw you in either. It’s a wonder that a lot of these shops can survive with so little foot traffic.
As a whole this mall is fairly decent for the location and what’s there. Unfortunately because this on a neighbor island it just doesn’t get a lot of traffic from the locals, you regularly see shops rotate in and out, some of them which are great. Hopefully business picks up and the stores left there are able to sustain and stay afloat. It’s definitely a nice change of pace and scenery compared to sea of people you encounter when shopping at malls such as Kahala Mall & Ala Moana for sure!

Great customer service but some sales assoc was a little bit more pushy than the other. I visited this place once on my own and twice with the hubby in search of a bday gift.
We inquired about their Maui Jim’s and was told that they have a lifetime replacement (back to this detail later). Well, I was sold and so was the hubby. Considering RayBan had a 2 yr warranty as opposed to Maui Jim’s. He found a great pair of Jim’s that he wanted for his bday, but they only had one left with a scratch, the sales girl was really pushing her pitch for us to buy them.
We were told to buy it and get a replacement lens since we were planning on visiting Maui in October. Well, we did not purchase these glasses cuz it felt like a sales quota that needed to be met and was not going to inconvenience ourselves of getting a replacement.
I bought a pair of Maui Jim’s at another location in Poipu the same evening, only bcz it was a surprise gift for the hubby to be presented to him at the restaurant. The sales girl also said Maui Jim has a lifetime warranty.
I thought I was buying a much better product than RayBan.
Now, back to the lifetime replacement detail; the hubby and I went to the original Maui Jim’s on Maui and was told their product has a 2 yr warranty not a lifetime. Wow! We were both disappointed with the incorrect product knowledge given to us at this location and the other on in Poipu. Hopefully Maui Jim’s rep advised their retailer about the warranty and not to give false and misleading knowledge of their product for a sale.

In the words of Kauai native, Irah Nishi, «Kukui Grove – the #1 mall». If you’ve ever come across his song «Go Home», that is a line that he utters. And, it’s basically true.
If you’re looking for a «mall» on Kauai, this is your best bet. This is where all the major department stores and accessory shops are. There is also a food court which holds a bunch of locally owned eateries (aside from places like McDonald’s, Quiznos, Jamba, Starbucks, & Genki). They recently just got Orange Grove too. Not to mention, It’s also where you’ll find all the middle/​high school students hanging out after school or on the weekends.
It might seem very limited, but on an island with only 2 lanes what do you expect? Besides, that just gives us Kauaians more reason to travel off island. ^_​^

Well, not the greatest shopping center, but pretty much the only one on Kaua’i (besides coconut market place, but that’s full on touristy). There’s about 5 shops here. LOL. Okay, maybe 10. Very different from when i was a kid. Now there’s Genki sushi, there’s no more center stage :(lots of seating for eating and such, which is nice actually. I love Ho’s chinese restaurant and go there often. Also Bread and Deli, which has more seating now. Surf shops. Macy’s. Sears. Random shops.

Large shopping center in Kauai, the closest from Lihue Airport. Perfect place to shop water and food before going to PMRF cottage. Kokee cabin or long hikes.

There are Costco, Home Depot, Macy’s around. By car, it is confusing how to get to the other side.

It’s a mall. From other around the island they called Lihue the cinderblock part of town. It has all the comforts of home. A good court, MACY’S and a few other shops. The Kauai bakery had very good Maladadas I wish I could eat them everyday!

One of the few shopping centers that are spaced far apart on Kauai. After spotting the Macy’s coming back from Waimea Canyon on the hwy 50, I decided to make a pitstop for supplies and a rest before heading back down to Poipu. This mall is reminiscent of Kahala Mall + Koko Marina. It’s open air and has the mixture of mid end to value oriented shopping options. It’s geared more towards the local people and budget friendly vistors. Not sure where the high end places to shop on Kauai would be, but I’ll assume in Princeville and Poipu.
Kukui Grove shopping mall boasts a Starbucks and a Jamba Juice, along with the McDonald’s in the food court. Always good to have these staples in your neighborhood mall. Ate at the Genki Sushi and picked up a frappuchino at Starbucks on my way out to the airport. Nice ambiance to stroll through on a quiet Sunday afternoon after completing the Kauai Marathon.

Obviously a small island, therefore you shouldn’t expect too many things coming from one of the only shopping centers on the island. Located smack dab in the center of Lihue, you’ll find some nice stuff you don’t usually find at other surf shops & best of all, you got Deli & Bread (aka bombass sandwhiches). Kukui Grove also offers the convenience of Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Genki Sushi, Longs Drugs, & Times Supermarket.
If you’re on the island, there’s no doubt you’ll go here AT LEAST once. But, no worries, you won’t be spending much of your precious vacation/​cruise time here.

kukui grove shopping center is pretty much all us kauaians have!
there are a few good options:
macy’s carries a lot of name brands and it’s nice to have a department store with good quality stuff.
underground & déjà vu are locally (kauai) owned surf/​skate shops that carry the latest trends. very friendly and reasonably priced.
couple jewelry stores… prestige jewelers have been around foreverrrrr! a nice vietnamese couple owns it. if you’re gonna get baby’s ears pierced, go here!
famous foot ware has lots of different shoes to choose from.
kauai bakery has the best cinnamon buns! lots of different pastries to choose from.
deli & bread connection has bomb soup & sandwiches.
there’s a small variety here, but, for such a small island, you don’t really need more.
