Immaculate Conception Church

Its location is easy to miss, there is a sign, though not a well-​lit or large sign from the hi-​way that points to it.
Came here twice during my Kauai vacation, and on one occasion, there was a Eucharistic celebration (that is — NO PRIEST!) That disturbed me a little, since we already are aware that there are fewer priests all over the world in general, and this was a clear indication that we need more priests!
Very welcoming congregation. They host a lot of tourists from mainland.
An older building, with a lost of open side doors to let in the breezes. It was actually chilly enough for a sweater those mornings.
Parking is spacious enough.

I attended Immaculate Conception Church for a wedding back back in June. It is located off the main highway in Kauai. There aren’t a lot of signs so it can be hard to miss; especially when flying down the one lane road.
The church itself is very quaint with beautiful stained glass windows. It doesn’t have air conditioning so it can get pretty hot. If there is a breeze it is not terrible. They have roosters on the property (much like the rest of Kauai) and the roosters kept crowing during the whole ceremony which was a bit distracting
The bathrooms were basic. They were outside and very hot. But had runnig water and two stalls
I have never been here for mass or service so I can’t speak on that but it was a great place for my friends wedding and was close by to where the reception was being held as well as many restaurants and stores.

The minute we walked in a guy greeted us and gave us the song booklet. He probably noticed that we’re not locals so he asked us if we want to do the offertory, which means we just have to carry the Ostia to the altar. I wanted to do it but my friends already said no (they have no idea what the heck he was talking about because they’re not catholic) so we moved on and seated ourselves. There were a lot of singing from the choir while waiting for the mass to start with the Hawaiian touch incorporated in it. There were even a couple of local ladies who hula with some of the songs. Nice!
Before the mass started, they asked the tourists to stand up so they can give each and everyone a welcome lei.
Amazing experience! What a good way to start our last day in the island!

It was a wonderful service. As in previous reviews, the parishioners greeted us as a visitor very graciously giving us a lei. The music with the local Hawaiian flair was really exceptional. The day was warm and the widows were open with a delightful breeze coming through. The Priest gave a good Homily. The service was perfect and I would definitely go back the next time in Kauai. It was truly a Hawaiian experience.
