I took my car to the Lihue dealership to have it inspected as it was running poorly and was told by the technician it could be fuel-​related (I checked w/​Costco where I buy my fuel and was told they changed their filters regularly) because another customer had complained of the same problem after fueling his car at Costco. He asked me to buy and pour an additive into the fuel tank even though I asked him several times to put the car on a tester in order to see what may come out. After struggling with the car for a few days and about to take it back to the dealership (where I was supposed to leave it for a few days of testing and evaluation), I was told not to bring the car as they didn’t have a loaner car so they rescheduled me for next week (?!) — very unprofessional indeed. After spending money on additives and a poor treatment by the dealership, I decided to stop by D&W and as soon as I explained the problem to Mr. Wayne (and his son Kelvin), I was told it was probably a sensor. They put the tester to work and sure enough — it was a «cam sensor» (the procedure lasted a few minutes to diagnose the problem). Wayne ordered the item instantly and it was delivered to his shop in a matter of 20m. He proceeded to install it, took the car for a test-​run (with me inside) and it was running beautifully i.e. like new (the car has about 29K total miles). My total bill was apx $ 180 including parts and labor (believe the labor was apx $ 70 and part $ 110). Wayne did the job with a big smile on his face and, again, I would never take my car for any repairs anywhere else. His honesty, fair pricing and professionalism are incredible and unmatched. I can only imagine what I would have had to pay had I taken the car to the dealership and left it there for a few days of «test & evaluation» and what kind of potential stories I may have been told about the problem that Mr. Wayne resolved in a matter of a few minutes and never even mentioned the fuel as a potential problem but used the tester (as I had begged the dealership technician to do in the first place to no avail). Thank you Mr. Wayne and Mr. Kelvin. for saving me again — you really know how to treat a customer and earn his loyalty and business.

My car wouldn’t start and I needed a good, trustworthy mechanic who wouldn’t charge me up the ass! So glad my friend recommended Wayne and the team at D&W Services.
Wayne was filled with nothing but good vibes and I didn’t get any shadiness or untrustworthiness that I usually feel with other mechanics. He clearly explained that I needed new spark plugs and spark wires and let me know what the price of everything would be before he started work. His rates are also extremely fair and some of the lowest on the island!
After he replaced the spark plug/​wires, he realized that there were still problems and that the distributor would have to be replaced. He felt really bad about it as he knew this would cost me more, so he ordered the distributor using his own personal discount (which saved me over $ 100) and then didn’t even charge me for the extra 30 – 45 min. he had to spend installing it!
Overall, I saved hundreds of bucks going with Wayne and really dug his positive vibes and «pay it forward» attitude. Would recommend him as the go-​to mechanic to anyone on the island!

I thought I’d send one of my good friends here after years of going here myself to have my cars repaired. He said my friend’s car probably needed a tuneup, he’d do a diagnostic on it, give us an estimate and after approval, perform the repair. It would take «2 days». 9 days later and no phone call, we decided to call him and figure out the status of the vehicle. He told us the «tuneup would be done by morning». In the morning we were greeted with an over $ 300 bill and a brief explanation of services performed, which supposedly included a diagnostic and tuneup. 2 days of sticker shock later, the problem recurs, and we’re forced to bring the car back. A one-​minute tweak and the engine is running properly. Did the car really need $ 300 of repair? We think not. After trying to schedule a followup appointment to complete the repair, he asked us to come by around 2pm today to apply some sort of boot to the spark plugs «normally a $ 200 job» which he was going to comp us for free after our difficulty. Two confirmation calls later, we show up for repair and the shop is closed, no one around. Finally able to reach him on his cel, and his only explanation, «oh sorry, had an emergency». That’s it. To add insult to injury, the check engine light is now coming on about 30 – 45 minutes into every drive, a problem which I would hazard a guess a diagnostic would have caught or given us some sort of clue as to the real problem.
