This is a decent dog park in a Nassau County, the park located along the ocean but the dunes block the view. No dogs are permitted on the actual beach. It’s $ 10 to enter with a Nassau County leisure pass for parking, $ 30 without. It does serve the purpose of a cool dog park. It Has all the essentials. Sun shade sand and water. The tent with picnic tables make it comfortable for humans. I would not bring lunch though, it’s stinky and could be maintained a little better. It’s a no leash run. Some clean up tools, water fountain, water bowls and some agility equipment(in fair to worn out condition). Our dog loves it here and we are just a few miles from home probably will be back. It was early in the day so we were the only people here. Wohoo!!!

Let’s consider just the dog run by itself. This place is great. Plenty of space to run around, there’s a dinky agility set but it’s better than nothing, most runs don’t even have that. There are picnic tables and tenting for human counterparts. There’s a nice fountain with good water pressure for the dogs. Separate area for the little dogs(of which there are very few), and another for large(which are many). Next step, going beyond the looks. The place has an overwhelming smell of urine(duh, dog run) which I’ve never experienced at any other dog run I’ve been to. There’s poop everywhere, since, as I later discovered, most people that frequent the run don’t clean up after their dogs. The terrain here is composed of sand, so your dogs can and do get über dirty. Now the people. Unpleasant, unfriendly. Maybe it’s because they were all locals from the nearby trailer park and I was completely alien, but there were few greetings and mostly dirty looks of condescension. To be fair, there were one or two people out of the ten that did smile and give my dogs a pat or two. The beach the dog run is located on is alright but it was $ 30 to park and a horribly unfriendly staff who insisted dogs were only allowed on the ground at the dog run. So I’m supposed to lug around 20 and 30 pound dogs under each arm from the car to the run? Right. Minus stars to infinity.
