Bakers Square

I bake pies for a hobby, so Bakers Square is kind of like the mother ship. I don’t even have to look at a menu when I get there: I order the Chicken Caesar Pita. It is amazing, and if you have never had it… well, you live a very sad life. Then I order a slice of pie. I think that Bakers Square has won more awards at the American Pie Council’s Championships than any other commercial contestant, so you can’t find better. I don’t even try to make peach or custard pies because they will never be as good as what you find at Bakers Square. I never order a slice of peach or custard pie, because I get a whole pie to bring home. One time, I ordered a peach pie as I payed my bill and the cashier said «Is that all?». In my head, I thought «You don’t know me. You don’t know my story,» but then I realized that he was right and I should get a custard pie too. The staff is always super friendly at this location and the service is always quick, even when the restaurant is full of people. You cannot go wrong here, unless you order something other than the Chicken Caesar Pita… in which case, you need to reconsider your life choices.

Went here on a Saturday afternoon wanting to get the pie of the month, pumpkin supreme. I was disappointed they were out of it, this is the third or fourth time we have gone to this location to find out they have no inventory!

I usually don’t think highly of chain restaurants. However, this bakers square has the most friendly staff. I have come here several time in the past few weeks and they have treated me very well. Most of the customers are senior citizens, but I love that! (To be honest I wish I can just sit with one of them and talk about life, but I don’t want to be a creeper)
Anyways, the egg white omelette was honestly better portioned and better tasting than the one I had at wild berry – another breakfast restaurant nearby – last week.
Even if you are not for chain restaurants, if you’re looking for a good place to come for breakfast and want to change it up a bit from the usual Denny’s or Egg Mcmuffins, give this place try! (Especially if you’re a student because we’re broke)
I have not tried the pies.
Of course this is not a fine dining restaurant. But for a normal chain restaurant in the suburbs, five stars for quality service and yummy food. What more could you want?

WE LOVE THIS BAKERS SQUARE!!! We have been coming here for many years. They have the most caring staff and always provide great service. Their quality of the food is outstanding especially for a chain restaurant. The muffins and pies are the best.

Friendly and service oriented waitstaff. Another chain restaurant but with a comprehensive and healthy menu items. Great breakfast selection as well. I went for the turkey avocado on flatbread with a Mediterranean salad. Delicious and reasonably priced too. A big slice of pie was included in the pick three special. A wonderful pumpkin pie! A good value and good meal.

The wait for our food was well over an hour. Our son got his food half an hour before we did. I’m glad he was served first, but the difference in serving time was ridiculous. When we did get our food, our sides were forgotten. When our sides did arrive, they were awful. (Seriously, why would you even serve a customer burned, cold toast?) The temperature in the restaurant had to set on «sauna». We came for the pies and stayed for the food. Next time we’ll just grab a pie and go! IF we actually come back.

I came here for lunch today. It wasn’t the first time I’ve been to a Baker’s Square. It’s always been a decent restaurant — not fancy and not fast food. I wanted to play it safe and l decided to just get the normal eggs and hash brown. It was pretty good to say the least.
Luz was the server. She was very friendly. After our meals, she asked if we wanted pie. It was Wednesday and it was advertised as free. She also told me the cashier up front would take the price off when we paid. Given those conditions, I decided to just order one. However, when paying, Eric told me it is only free after 11am. Inevitably, I was upset and explained to him that I only got one because it was free. Understanding my frustrations, he took the price off. I was very thankful for his empathy and apprehension.
Decent food and good service is the simplest way I can put it — it’s your normal Baker’s Square.

I’ve been there before and never liked it that much to go on my own volition. However, a friend recommended their «Works» burger, said it’s the best and also on Wednesdays, you get a free slice of pie. My mom who is always looking for a great burger convinced me to bring her there. We arrived at 10 am there and found out the pie rush Wednesday starts at 10:30 so we opted to wait half an hour to order. The waitress knew about it but I had to hunt her down by the time 10:30 rolled around. There was hardly any customers around. I ordered the crepes lorraine and my mom the «works» burger. They both came pretty promptly but I soon realized my crepes did not have bacon as described on the menu. I told the waitress who brought 3 pieces of bacon. «Is this okey or do you want me to take it back?». I was fine with the bacon being on the side as I was starving. My mom’s burger did not look like the «works» burger on the pictur. It was a plain old burger. She went ahead and ate half of it. We took our free slices of pie home and leftovers and I don’t know why I left 20% tip which I think made me mad the whole way home. I felt empty and dissatisfied with the meal. I figured never again and forget about it. But when we were eating our leftovers again, we couldn’t understand why my friend would recommend such a plain burger, that’s when I looked up their menu again online and found out her burger was supposed to come with bacon, onions, and mushroom and with this special parmesan cheese sauce! What the heck? Both orders wrong! Never again. I really don’t know how this place is staying open.

We walked in and my husband said «Oh, it’s a Perkins»
That is exactly what they look like. Lots of tables and booths, a pie case up front. But luckily the food was much better than Perkins.
The food is nothing fancy — breakfast, sandwiches, salads, a few «homestyle» entrees. I opted for the chicken pot pie. Husband got a chicken fajita pita. I LOVED my pot pie… now I am 5 months pregnant, and I do seem to be obsessed with chicken pot pie right now, but it was homemade tasting and very filling. Lots of real white meat chicken (no freaky processed chunks like even big chains seems to use), veggies, creamy gravy and crust on top.
Husband liked his pita quite a bit, but ate it with a knife and fork since it was a mess to pick up and eat. We shared a slice of pecan pie which was great.
So if you want simple, homey food, and good service I say give them a try!

I’ve stopped here a few times to pickup pies. I’ve never actually eaten here, but it seems like any other Baker’s square. It’s nice and bright– there’s lots of windows. It seems clean. I’ve always had quick and friendly service at the counter, and their pies are DELICIOUS, and fairly priced! Love Baker’s Square, and glad that they’re still around. They’re a staple at our family gatherings and Birthdays. Who can resist French Silk Pie?

My husband and I went yo liberty ill bakers square this morning for breakfast. We always enjoyed going there for either breakfast or dinner. Today we waited about 15−20mins before anybody even noticed us. So we walked out. Never going there again.
So we were very disappointed in today’s service. Nobody even took our drink order… We won’t be back…

I came here once before and had a great experience decided to come back to get another great breakfast. However this time the food was terrible and service was no welcoming, the servers behaved more like fast food order takers than restaurant servers, they just wanted you in and out. I saw half if the food in my plate being microwaved and the pies where just not up to standard. Hard to believe when the place is called bakers square

Let’s face it, you come here for the pie. But first everything else:
Very nice, elegant appearance. Looks like some place you would come to socialize during lunch or dinner. Menu is wide variety as well.
My girlfriend ordered mashed potatoes and mozzarella sticks. While I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. Everything was delicious, my burger was a bit too greasy though. Still cooked great and all, but with this type of atmosphere being handed a greasy burger was off-​putting.
The wide variety and quality of desert is no contest, best around.
Service is fairly quickly. We received our food within 10 minutes of ordering.
I would compare Baker’s Square to IHOP. It’s more of a diner setting where you would go for a quick meal.

this review is just on taking out pies.
establishment seems recently renovated/​clean and the pie case is enticing. although i have never eaten there, the kind service i receive when picking out a pie/​checking out (anthony) does not go unnoticed and perhaps one day i will eat there.

When the chinese buffet nearby wasn’t open, we opted to visit Bakers Square, since it was close. I live close and have only been there a few times in the 15 years of living in the area.
I was with a friend, my daughter-​in-​law and my two grandchildren. We were seated immediately, by a gentleman who was a little TOO jokingly friendly. I know he was trying to be funny, but quiet hosts are my favorite. It took a while for our waitress to come by. The place was busy, but not full.
We ordered our beverages and thought we’d die of thirst before they came to our table. When they finally did arrive, we were all ready to order. The children ordered from the children’s menu. I ordered a tuna sandwich with soup and dessert. The others ordered a combo of soup and sandwich, which also came with dessert. My soup was brought out quick, however the others did not have their soup served. We again waited for a very, very long time before finally our food arrived. The soup for the others was part of their plate, which is unfortunate the menu didn’t state that, and I had mine separately. The food was ok, but not great. We had to grab the waitress to have her bring our dessert, since she didn’t come by at any time after we received our food. I haven’t had a Bakers Square pie for quite some time, and it was good, but not as great as I remembered. After we were done, we had to flag down the wairess again to bring our check. After she brought the check, we were ready to leave and paid at the front register. The gentleman who took my money was overly friendly, similar to the host. I guess that’s not such a bad thing, just made me uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I know this will be my last visit to this location.

I personally think this is one of the better franchise-​style family restaurant. I really do. the poblano soup was very good, burger was well done and the strawberry lemonade was pretty good too. The servers were very nice.
Oh well, their pie was just ok, but what can I do. My standard is too high for pies due to the place on Chicago ave.

I wish I could leave a great review. Their pies are excellent, some of the best I’ve had. The in-​store experience, however, wasn’t nearly as great. I just got back from having brunch there with my parents and two uncles, and I came out a little embarrassed from it. We were seated quickly, but the overall wait time between the beginning of our order to the actual delivery of our food nearly ran up to 40 minutes; the restaurant wasn’t full, and my uncles had ordered nothing more than coffee and a pie slice each. My mom’s order came completely wrong: eggs fried, not scrambled, sausage instead of bacon, and one missing coffee cup for her and a dirty one for me. It seems we weren’t the only table experiencing problems, as two others around us also expressed some concerns.
The people were friendly and I ended up leaving a decent tip, but I doubt I’ll ever come back for a sit-​down meal here again.

I don’t go for the food but I do go to Baker’s Square for their DELICIOUS Pies! My favorite is the French Apple Cheesecake, and the French Silk is my 2^nd favorite.
Here is a bit of trivia — — - Most of you may remember but Bakers Square used to be called Poppin’ Fresh. But it had another name even before that– — - can you guess?

Yes, it’s a chain. No, it is not gourmet.
THEY HAVE OREO PIE. And delicious ranch dressing, I might add.
I have sampled a few things off their menu (no breakfast items, sorry!) and the food is pretty tasty. Good sandwiches, chicken tenders, and my boyfriend inhales the works burger like it’s going out of style.
The pies. Of course… they are delicious. You couldn’t pay me to go on Wednesday — which is free pie day. I hate crowds, so I will happily pay for my pie. Peanut butter, oreo, and french silk are my favorites.
The staff are extremely friendly. I have not had a single bad experience here. It may not be glamorous, but it hits the spot every once in a while and I will keep coming back!
There is an XSport fitness nearby if you overload on pie! :)

We stopped in for a late lunch and I ordered the Artisan Pie Shop Special where you pick 3 — sandwich, side, pie. I ordered the horseradish beef flatbread sandwich, chili and chocolate peanut butter cup pie.
The beef was tender and the sandwich was just the right size — not to filling. The chili had great flavor with a little kick. The chocolate peanut butter cup pie was just as rich as it should be — excellent! I would come back here again for a reasonable quality inexpensive lunch. I even ordered a slice of the tripleberry pie to go and ate that on my way to the airport for breakfast the next morning. Fruitabulous as they say!
Bakers Square is a good family restaurant. It is clean, the staff is very friendly and the menu prices are reasonable.
