Bob Mills Heating & Cooling

I have used Bob the past 3 or 4 times I’ve had issues with my AC unit. The main reason I’ve stuck with him is he does seem to be cheaper than the more established outfits north of the river. However paying less does come with its drawbacks and I think I’ve finally had enough so that next time I need a HVAC guy I’ll be calling someone else.
Recently Bob installed a new AC unit at our house. We got three different bids and Bob was the cheapest by about $ 300. On the day of the installation my wife and I both had to work so my mom agreed to come over to let him into the house. He was supposed to arrive at 8 am, but it was almost 10 am before he finally showed up. (This is the kind of stuff I’m used to from Bob — I can understand running late when it’s the middle of the day and you’re working other calls, but when you’re the first call of the day scheduled a week in advance?)
It took about three hours to do the installation and before he finished he informed my mom that he would have to come back because the store had given him the wrong «kit.» Here’s where the story gets sketchy as I wasn’t there and am only hearing all this second hand from my mother. Basically he said something to the effect of being given a «70-​degree kit» when he needed a «90-​degree one.»
My mother is in her early sixties and still has normal mental functions so I have no reason to believe she would have imagined this particular exchange. Talking with her afterwards she reminded me to make sure Bob comes back and installs the correct «kit.» In the meantime our AC should work normally.
Since the AC was working I didn’t think much of it and just figured Bob would show back up later that week to replace whatever needed replacing. After a week of not hearing from him I decided to send him a text message — no replay. Then I sent an email — no reply. Then I left a phone message — no reply. Finally I called him again and he just happened to answer the phone. I explained who I was and mentioned the mysterious «kit» and he flat out said he had no idea what I was talking about. As if I would just make up stories to force him to go out in pointless calls. I said I was only relating what had been passed on by my mother. Finally we left it that I would call him at the beginning of the next week and he would come out and look at it.
Fast forward to the next week (sorry this is so long, almost done!). I texted him again — no reply. Finally my wife, who tends to be not as friendly as I am in situations such as this, called him and told him he would be coming over to look at out AC to see if anything needed to be replaced. He said he would come over at 1 pm to look at it. Guess what? It’s 4 pm as I write this and have not seen nor heard anything from Bob! So while our AC is working for the time being were still unsure as to whether it was actually installed correctly.
How hard is it to find 15 minutes to check on a job??? I guarantee if there was money involved he would have found the time to stop by. I guess if our AC does end up breaking down I can only hope it will be covered by warranty and we’ll be having someone else do the labor.

Top notch service Bob. Sent Jennifer out to fix a nightmare united home management & consulting llc left my furnace in. I had no heat and a brand new 2 season old furnace. My furnace has worked great since. Other than the mess left by UHMC and the vents falling off ‚(which Jennifer will be getting to fix hopefully soon) I am very happy with bob mills work. Thank you!
