Our office has five very knowledgeable doctors and friendly staff members dedicated to fulfilling all of your eye care needs including: comprehensive eye exams, glasses & designer frames, contact lenses, surgical consultations for Lasik and Cataracts, Eye disease treatment (i.e. Glaucoma), color vision, and more!

History

Established in 2002.

Bennett Optical, now Bennett EyeCare Midwest (BECM), is one of the largest primary eye care practices in Kansas City and can trace its roots back 100 years (originally opened in 1909). Bennett Optical operated as a stand-​alone practice for many years and at various locations North of the river until 1996.

From 1996 to 1998 Bennett Optical and Eyecare Midwest mutually provided primary eyecare, eyewear, and surgical eyecare. During this period of time the practice was located in Gladstone and also acquired locations in Liberty and Platte City, Missouri.

On January 1, 2002 Drs. Bennett and Bednar separated their practices from Eyecare Midwest and created their current practice, Bennett EyeCare Midwest. 2002 was a big year for Bennett EyeCare Midwest for another reason, this is the year that Dr. David Tischinski joined our practice.

Dr. David S. Bennett graduated from the University of Missouri, St. Louis School of Optometry in 1985. Dr. Bennett has served for 10 years as an Examiner for the National Board of Optometry and a past board member of the Missouri Optometric Association.

Dr. Bednar graduated from the University of Houston, College of Optometry. Dr. Bednar is an active member in the American Optometric Association and the Missouri Optometric Association as well as several community and charitable activities.

Dr. David Tischinski graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry, in Bloomington, Indiana. Dr. Tischinski believes the most gratifying aspects of being an optometrist are meeting new people, dealing with visual needs on an individual basis, and providing the most thorough, high quality eye care available.

Dr, Abbie Rondeau, a graduate of Kansas State University and the Illinois College of Optometry joined Bennett EyeCare Midwest in March 2009.
