New to the area, so I decided to stop in for a beer and something to eat. It was a Sunday afternoon so the bar was loosely filled, but I wanted and expected that. Right away I was asked what I wanted, by the friendly staff. I had Little Sumpin Ale and the Waxy burger with sweet potato fries. All of which I highly recommend! All reasonably priced for the area. Plan on drinking many beers to come here.

So let’s be real, the Irish will never be mistaken for the French or Italian cooks of the world. I was 32 before I found out that Roast Beef should be «pink» and have a different texture than Pot Roast. I also now understand that potatoes are not required at every meal. That said, if you hang a sign out front and call yourself a restaurant, you should do a reasonable job at creating food. I had lunch at Waxy O’Connors yesterday and is now one of my least favorite restaurants, ever. The menu is VERY limited. 5 Entrees? No Luncheon Specials. The only Steak entrée was steak tips. The only chicken entrée was … I don’t think they had one. If they had a fish entrée, it must have been Salmon, which I would have ignored. They did have something with Lamb and also some corned beef dish. OK, it’s an «Irish» restaurant, but who has lamb or corned beef for lunch? I finally opted for the Chicken Breast sandwich. Blah! It did come with French Fries, but they weren’t edible. 14 Soggy, awful looking fries. Oh, but they had good service, right? No. The server(«Chris») was much too occupied taking care of the other 4 or 5 people having lunch, to spend much time worrying about us. How many guests could 1 server be expected to handle? My friend had a burger of some sort, that looked horrible. Waxy’s could be only restaurant open after the Apocalypse and I’d opt to wait for the Army to show up with some MRE’s.

I have been here a few times and had a couple of different experiences… If the food was even good, I would understand maybe a little bit BUT it is not even close! On Dec 16th a few of my friends and I were supposed to go for a paint night recently and it was cancRating Meh. I’ve experienced better. elled only a couple of days before due to there not being enough sign ups. We decided to go anyway and when we mentioned it to the waitress she said it was really because they wanted to use the space for a Christmas party instead. Last week, my boyfriend and I made a reservation for Christmas eve to meet another couple for dinner. We made the reservation for 7pm. Our friends met us right at 7pm and we casually ordered drinks and took our time looking at the menu. The place was totally empty and it was clear that we were not welcome. About 20 mins later we ordered salads, apps and our dinners and a few more drinks which were delivered pretty quickly BUT all at once — never good! At exactly 7:45pm the lights came on and the music was turned off! We were shocked! The waitress said that it was last call because they were closing at 8pm for the night. We asked if they would turn the music back on so we could finish our food/drinks but they refused. We spoke to the manager and he was HORRIBLE. Very much like a robot with his responses and blamed«corporate» and the town for the situation which obviously made zero sense! He could have cared less and couldn’t get rid of us fast enough… At the very least, we should have been told they were closing early when I made the reservation and if not then, then definitely when we walked in the door and ordered food! Bad, bad, bad customer service and I will not be going back!

First time to Waxy O’Conner’s Lexington Very nice ambiances. Was there for a Christmas party along with many other. Our party had a private room as such was less noisy. 1 waitress for our party of 32. She was experienced and able to meet our libation needs. She had one addition waitress when the food came. I had steak tips with fresh green beans and real mash potato. The steak tips were very tasty a little chewy but palatable. The portion above adequate. Two tips went home with me. My wife had to send her FF back for they were cold. Bring the deed to your house. Drinks are very expensive. Would I return? Hmmmmm. Yes. After the holidays when it is not so hectic. Not the Bancroft by any means but not the Aegean either. Nice location and easy parking.

They’ve changed recently. Everything used to be decent, now it’s all frozen crap out of a box. Waxy’s is not good food anymore. It’s on par with Applebee’s. The service was never very good.

Started off great. Waiter was friendly and provided good service. French onion soup was excellent. It went downhill from there. The calamari had more fried jalapenos than calamari. The beer battered fish and chips looked great, but the the batter was very thick and it was extremely greasy, definitely not worth $ 17.00 for lunch. It said haddock on the menu, but I question whether it actually was haddock, looked more like cod. Decided on dessert and ordered the cider donuts with caramel sauce. They were the size of baseballs and when we opened then up, the raw batter oozed out. Not very pleasant. Apologies from the manager, said they had used the wrong size scoop. Disappointing.

I would give it a zero, ive had better service at a funeral. They would not serve us because the place was empty and we sat ourselves after cashing out at the bar. The seating hostess is a liberal… Enough said. Bar tender is a big Giants fan and cheered against tom brady, one girl had 13 tatooed on her leg probably for Odell Beckham. We left to go to margaritas

I really want to like this place! It’s so close to base with so much potential to be a really good place but every time we come we get horrible service. The wait staff leave much to be desired! We’re sitting here at lunch-our waitress has 1 other table in the section but we had to ask for appetizers after she took forever to come back to us. Our drinks haven’t been refilled. A smile would help a lot! Ask how we’re doing. Something!

I’m puzzled why the waitress comes up the pool table area to clear glasses, but won’t take orders for food or drink. We usually come in with a large group and it’s lousy to have to leave the game to walk to the bar to order food or drinks.

Meh — as far as the food goes, it’s good and solid fair. Drinks — not so much, service — probably a 2. My son enjoys the bar so I’ll stop bay and have a drink and apps — but other than that — disinterested young staff with not much experience.

‘Fine Home Cooking… Fresh from the freezer’ Horrible service. Came for lunch. Waitress was very rude. The drinks came out wrong. One member of my party ordered a side salad, and the waitress never brought it. When the food finally came she acknowledged that she didn’t bring it and offered to bring soup instead. The Clam Chowder was cold. Irish Calzone tasted like it was hot pocket from the freezer. Most of the staff was huddled around the bar complaining loudly about their job and what they had to ‘go through’ Not coming back.

Exceptional service and great food. Considering how grumpy my party was, the waitress was very nice and patient. By the end of the meal we were all happy!

We’ve been a few times now and found the menu changed from our last visit. If they bring back the Fried Peanut Butter and Jelly Sundae it will get another star = that dessert is worth it by itself! It was awesome! BRINGITBACK! Ok so on with the review, the service is always been decent to very good all depends on the night and time if it’s busy — don’t make any plans for afterwards. The food is comfort American with some nice traditional Irish options. They have some Dart Boards off to the side and music(I think nightly) in the back BUT the entire place is open so read LOAD no matter where you sit. Lively atmosphere, all in all a great place to come have a drink, relax or listen to some music as well as have some tasty grub.

Review is only for drinks. I’ve only been here for drinks with co-workers since we work nearby. Drink menu: Not many on tap to choose from but good enough for my taste. Price: Drinks are priced fairly well-typical of most local pubs. Atmosphere: It has a typical old Irish Pub feeling and looking to it. Pretty awesome-in my opinion. Dim lighting as well. Service: Staff was very attentive and quick to take your order and checking in if additional drinks are needed. It’s a really chill place to hang out and catch up with friends and co-workers. Try it– for the drinks anyway.

Avoid… If you come here for a late dinner on Sunday and it’s empty. If you want a booth it’s a 20 minute wait! Garbage!!!

Been here twice, the first time was on a Friday night for drinks after leaving another establishment. We heard about Waxy’s from a co-worker and fell in love with the place even more went we found out a band was playing! The 2nd time was even better. Great food, incredible appetizers, and a waitress who made sure we had plenty to drink and were well taken care of. Definitely a strong recommend to go to. The location might seem out of the way, but its well worth it!

I went on St Patricks day. The atmosphere was nice. The food is really good. My friend ordered the buffalo mac and cheese and it was so delish. Im going back for more. I had chicken tenders that were bursting with flavor. Oh and they have this delish clam chowder. Nice and creamy full of clam. Negative: The service from the waiter wasn’t great but it was busy so hard to tell if its always like that or it was just that night. Also they gave me my Guinness in a plastic cup, again could of been one of those things just for that night.

Oh waxy, I like you, I really do. But you really need to inform people one special types of events are going on. We came here as a party of three one night, didn’t have any idea at the bar/seating area was running some sort of trivia. And nobody, not even our server explained how we could participate. And they were giving some good prizes too! My food was good. It’s always good. I like the vibe they are. I will always go there I just wish somebody had told us how to participate, interesting, because I answered every question correctly at my table. I would’ve been the grand champion that night. Ha ha ha Good selection of drinks for those who like alcohol. And the food is reasonably priced with huge portions. Try it at least once– Yay!

One of the few dining options in the food desert of Hartwell Ave, it gets decently busy during lunch, and completely insane after work. It’s difficult to find parking after 5pm, and just completely mobbed with people inside. I’ll break my review down into two parts: (1) All food except for the sriracha lime wings(see point 2). meh. I am not impressed by the food(or really the service) here. They try to spice it up by adding«ethnic» stuff like chicken tikka marsala(wtf? in an IRISH bar?) but really everything is just not that great. (2) Sriracha Lime Chicken Wings — AMAZING. 5 stars. This is the only thing I order here now, and it’s awesome. There’s a good bit of heat, but not burn your taste buds to nothing type hot. Soooo goood. I’m drooling a bit as I write this.

Comfort food central! Beef stew, Shepard’s pie, chili, Mac and cheese! Decent bar service, cool pictures on the wall. Not a bad spot to catch a game.
