The Red Mile

It is what it is, NOT A CASINO!
It does have a nice, smoke free environment to wander around aimlessly in & toss a few $$ into their «virtual racing» games.
Haven’t tried the food or drinks, will leave that review for another day.

The new Red Mile opened in September and they now have video slots. Open until 2 am every night. They have Penny to $ 5 slots with different sets of minimums. They have an upstairs for televised track betting and 2 different restaurants. They gave you $ 5 as a new member and an ID to start your night with. They also were doing drawing every 15 min for prizes of which they gave 2 tickets as well when you arrived. It’s a very urban environment with most people just setting around wanting for the drawing and not really playing anything. They had a band in the side atrium area and dancing and a small cash bar. They provide you with free sodas while you play if you want provided by a waitress that walks around. I did see two people win $ 2400 and $ 1200 while I was there and I won about $ 160 but gave the majority of it back. Check it out if you like slots as it might be an alternative to driving 90 miles to Ohio or Indiana whichever you prefer.

I had my wedding at the round barn and it couldn’t have been more perfect. We had some hiccups leading up to the day because the Red Mile was going through renovations, but they worked with us as best they could and we figured it all out in the end. We had the ceremony outside the barn, and the reception inside. They made sure everything ran smoothly and did everything they could to make the day memorable. Our bartender was a hoot, and they made sure my groom and I were always fed and happy with a drink in our hand. The price wasn’t terrible for what you get. $ 2500 for the barn, and $ 600 for the ceremony site outside. This includes tables, chairs, linens, flatware, dishes, set-​up, clean-​up, servers, bartender etc. You have to use their caterer: Bayou Bluegrass, but they don’t disappoint. They’re wonderful at what they do and they’ll leave a lasting impression. The barn is beautiful and it is one definitely of the best places to get married in Lexington. I highly recommend it.

Fire the decorator. This place is not what i expected or hoped for. The bar is so cheap and cheesy. The lights are too bright. There’s no nice seating areas at all or artwork.
They should’ve taken a hard look at the Winners Circle in Indianapolis who features a great bar, dining room and classy atmosphere. They also have a VIP room with high back chairs and great dining options. Why not here?
I’m really disappointed and this is a downgrade from The Keeneland experience.

The new slots parlor /​instant racing venue will open to the public Sat. Sept. 12. It’s part of the newly renovated Red Mile. If this is you’re thing, go for it. (To me, racetracks are about horseracing.) Nice bar with friendly bartenders. Café 1101, your only food choice, is tucked away in a corner of the cavernous room. Nothing warm and inviting about it. The menu is limited — hamburgers, grilled (?) chicken sandwiches, pulled port with slaw, all with fries on the side. It’s cafeteria food at best. If you feel the call of the slots, do brown bag it.

In the heart of horse country lies an overlooked treasure, The Red Mile. A harness track operating since 1875 still attracts the very finest in both horses and horsemen during Grand Circuit racing September 25 — October 5.
Close to downtown Lexington, The Red Mile offers unique views of the city skyline from the grandstand. The food in the dining room is top notch.

Just went to a wedding at the Round Barn and was catered by Bayou Bluegrass. Hands down the BEST place to have a wedding/​reception. The couple had the ceremony and the reception there and the tables were set up for the reception and were perfect! The food was promptly set out and was well worth the ten minute delay from the ceremony to the transition for the reception! First time being in the Round Barn at the Red Mile and had one of the best wedding ceremonies yet! (7 weddings and counting.8 including this one!) congrats to the couple and CHEERS to Bayou Bluegrass at the Red Mile!

I came here for a special event, and the catered dinner was in the spacious ballroom overlooking the track. This is a gorgeous setting, and I would love to come back to see what race day is like.

Incredible showcase for the sport of harness racing. Idealic setting, good sight lines from the grandstand, and day time racing in late September/​early October. This is the standard for other tracks, and they all pale in comparison.
