This place is just great all around. The atmosphere is awesome, with many various things being sold here to the delicious foods you can order to eat there or take with you. Like the pimento cheese that they have, it is amazing. You must try it!

Today I grabbed lunch at the Mouse Trap-which is a great lunch spot whether you decide to sit inside or outside… or need it to go! I had the turkey & cheese sandwich with the tomato soup. There are a lot of options in the display case – today the fresh salmon looked very good. You could go sides galore here but you have to really just pick your favorite so you’re not spending too much money. They are known for the pimento cheese sandwich – I’ve had before and highly recommend. They also have kitchen supplies inside in case you want to look around while they make your food!

Don’t get me wrong, the food is pretty good. However, it does not make up for the rude staff and bad service. The girl who I spoke with on the phone beforehand was irritable and continued to be irritable when I arrived. I told her that I had never been there before and I was clearly unsure of what to order. She offered no help, never asked me if I had any questions, and never told me that lunch has the option of coming with two sides(which was not clear on the menu), so I left with only a sandwich. She was bitter and unfriendly as I watched her interact with other customers while I waited for my food. This may not matter to some, but I am a Customer Service Representative for another company and I found the whole thing highly unprofessional.

Love this spot for lunch! The sandwiches and soups are so yummy! Of course, I have to pick up some pimento cheese for home! Love the area and the food!

A tiny hole-in-the-wall little deli with a variety of gourmet edibles and kitchen gadgets. However, I’ll be honest. All I care about is the pimento cheese. Sure, the price went up from $ 8 to $ 10. But I don’t care. As far as I’m concerned, anyone else in town that makes pimento cheese is just imitating these guys. But all others will fail. Mousetrap makes the only pimento cheese that really matters. *mic drop*

I am a such a fan of this little place. I have been here about 5 times. The sandwiches, sides and soups are delicious. The shop is cute and interesting. It caters to those who love food and love to cook. It can be a tad expensive but worth it since it is a local place. Also, the room to dine in is very small. The usual clientele is middle to upper age housewife.

This place is awesome for lunch. It’s small so you may have to get there early. They always have delicious cold cuts and cheese. If you get a sandwich have them put their house dressing/sauce on it… to die for. Also they have the best pimento cheese spread I’ve ever had… hands down the best. The shop is cute, a little expensive but it’s things you can’t get just anywhere.

The Mousetrap is the cutest little lunch spot and tiny grocery for special items like cheeses, pasta sauces and noodles, jelly, prepared food. You walk into the store but it’s 3 rooms, the grocery, the restaurant, and the cute/neat kitchen items. Perfect for entertaining, they have all kinds of napkins with cute designs. The prices on the food in the grocery are a little steep and some of the deli could’ve been fresher.

You can’t beat the food, but service doesn’t match the great food quality. Welcoming a first time guest takes little effort, and pays off with guest loyalty.

Pimento cheese spread is really tasty. At $ 8 a pound it’s pricey though. Didn’t try any other food. Cute little place.

Great little deli and kitchen supply store. I’m a huge fan of cooking and fun new things to cook/prep with. This cures that need while offering a great mean. The Waldorf Salad is great most days, the sandwiches are awesome and there are many sandwich offerings, the crabcakes are great and I simply haven’t had anything I didn’t like here. Always stop by if I’m in the area and looking for a great, healthy meal.

The food is great but a lil tooo pricey. The staff are knowledgeable and always friendly. The seating, or should I say the lack there-of is minimal at best. However, if your looking to impress someone with a romantic lunch at the park, they do pack a beautiful picnic. Jus be prepared to pay a gourmet price.

Absolutely awful! They did some catering for 25 people for me, and charged me $ 350 for some dry sandwiches(literally — bread, a piece of meat, and a piece of cheese), some gross Waldorf salad and some plain old pasta salad — oh, and some cookies and brownies. When I complained — they told me to go to Panera. Well at Panera I can feed 25 people much more delicious food for about $ 250. So yes, I will be going to Panera from now on. This place is a complete rip-off.

It’s time for the Mousetrap. Soups: Always excellent. Had cream of broccoli today. Nothing better. Pimento Cheese spread. Nope. Over-rated. Who likes garlic in pimento cheese? Not I. I must be in the minority here, however. The sandwiches are always fresh and made to order. I enjoy the special sauce they put on each sandwich, but I like it in small quantities. The cheeses are great, but they are simply too expensive for a market like Lexington. The meals to take home look excellent. I tasted the beef tenderloin and had no complaints. Since this is la ocally owned business, I am usually willing to pay a little bit more. Parking is not too much of a problem.

The Mousetrap is a great local place to grab lunch-it is about as close to a restaurant that a non-restaurant can get. I say that in that the majority of the store is specialty foods/sweets/sauces/gobs of kitchen ware-but the real passion seems to be behind their deli case. They have the normal deli fare-sandwiches on assorted breads, cheeses, LT and the house sauce; but what is a bit different is the different salads, pastas, and other lunchy items that are available. Personally, I highly recommend their brussels sprouts when they are in season-they relaunched my brussels renaissance-and their salmon pinwheels-smoked salmon(of highest quality), cream cheese, onions, capers. Oh and by the way, they have the best iced tea(unsweet) in town. It can be a little bit pricey-but really, considering the other things in the area-especially the deplorable Drake’s-you can’t really go wrong for the quality-expect to spend around $ 10, however. All of the people working are very helpful and generous, especially considering that it can get quite hectic in there depending on what time of day you go. The Mousetrap(misspelled on here!) is great! Go!

I love the Mouse Trap for finding good little kitchen/food related gifts. They have a great selection of kitchen wares, specialty cookware, table setting stuff, etc. They have lots of coffees, chocolates, dried pastas, oils, peppercorns and specialty food items you might not find at the grocery. My brother and I have a tradition of going there on Christmas Eve(open!) and buying last minute things for our family. I’ve always enjoyed browsing around for gifts there. Being called the Mouse Trap, though, I have to say their cheese selection is pretty limited. If you’re looking for a great place to pick up a good variety of cheeses for a party or dinner, I would say you’re better off going to Wine + Market, they have a much larger selection and wines to boot. But if you just needed a wedge of parm, or something fairly standard, this would meet that need for sure. If I lived closer, I would probably be a bigger fan… Never had a sammy there, so my star rating doesn’t account for that…
