Been to both locations. Food was okay. Staff didn’t really stand out which is better than being bad, I guess. The food was really fast to come out though so I did enjoy that. When interacting with people they were all friendly. With a bunch of good Mexican restaurants around its hard to stand out so I have to say I’d only be back to break up the monotony of going to my favorite places.

I’m going 5 stars based on my very limited experience. We just ordered 2 margaritas on the rocks while we were waiting to go get seafood from a food truck at Legends Field. The staff was very friendly. Several stopped to ask if we wanted chips and salsa or anything else, we didn’t. The interior was dated, but intimate. I’ll go again for food just to see what’s up. But for 2 simple margaritas at 1pm on a Sunday it was a good experience :)

Great food, great wait staff and a happy place! Great place to hang for a casual dinner or drinks.

Always very good. Love the chips and salsa as well as the fajitas. Really have never had a bad meal here.

Service was extremely slow. We waited 15 mins for our order to be taken and 30 extra mins for our food. This was on a Tuesday night. The menu isn’t very big for option’s.

No. Just, no. I am sad for the Unilocalers of the Lexington area that *this* hits a 4 – 5 star dining experience for you. We stopped here on a road trip based on the 4-star overall review and we were terribly disappointed. First things first, this is an extremely outdated building. Chipped and peeling paint, cracks in the tile work, and dark odd lighting doesn’t really get me in the mood for a Mexican fiesta. On top of the outdated décor, it was just plain dirty. The little entryway smelled like mildew. I actually slid from my table to the bathroom without lifting my feet off the ground due to the grease on the floor. The exterior and bathroom doors are coated with grime. It’s just gross. I tried to convince my husband to leave $ 5 on the table and just walk out, it was that bad. Alas, we ordered and choked down some mediocre food. The guacamole was a pea-green color, not at all fresh or appetizing in appearance. Salsa was bland, some of the chips were soggy(I don’t even want to know why), and my daughter’s taco was so greasy that the shell just listlessly sloughed off when she tried to pick it up. As we were leaving, I noticed a swarm of fruit flies in the flower boxes near the entrance. Yuck. Please do yourself a favor and choose somewhere else.

We have been to Jalapeño’s before and was very satisfied but today we went in and the second entrance door had a roach on the door. We left and went to Red State BBQ… Unacceptable.

Wonderful place to stop by after work for drinks and food. Sad to hear that there wasn’t a happy hour last visit. Yet the food was still delicious! Those steaks fajitas!!! I’ve always been very pleased with the service. Quick to make you happy and always with a smile. I have a favorite waiter that I’m lucky to say I often have there. He’s good and fast and very thoughtful. Last visit was still great but he restroom issue was interesting. One stall was a mess and the other had a toilet seat that wouldn’t stay up. Lol. I’m sure the next time I go this will be fixed ’cause that is how this place is. :)

Great service. The chips were good, but the salsa was somewhat bland. Paul said his tacos were«decent.» My cheese enchiladas were also decent, but I found the rancheras sauce to be quite bland and the cheese half melted on top was a bit odd. Overall, it was not bad, not good, just okay.

Good stuff. Wife had the torta chicken sandwich, I had the shrimp Diablo. Good mix of authentic Mexican and texmex. Service was great, the food was prompt, delicious and as advertised if not better. Only downside was so-so margaritas and the atmosphere was very hole-in-the wall(not necessarily bad).

Visiting from SoCal, I wasn’t expecting great Mexican food. That exactly what I got. I ordered the Steak Mexicano. The steak itself was dry, the rice was bland and Horchata was watered down. The service was great and so were the chips and salsa.

I’m not a huge fan of margaritas, but WOW this place has good margaritas. I come almost once a week just to get their margaritas(and chips and queso, yum!)…I can’t drink margaritas anywhere else now… no other place comes close.

This place is the best Mexican food I’ve had in a loooong time. A hidden gem, we stopped here when returning home from Bonnaroo based on Unilocal recommendations. I’ve gotta say, we were NOT disappointed! I had the Enchiladas Poblano with steak and it was amazing. The mole sauce was on point. I’ll be brief: check this place out. To be fair, where I live Mexican food isn’t great or authentic. This place seemed authentic and outside of the cookie cutter of Mexican restaurants. If I’m back in Lexington, I’ll definitely be back to Jalapeños!

Not impressed… food ordered was not as described on menu. Said chunks of chicken and got shredded. Restaurant is far from clean. Server was attentive and food came quickly.

Food and service are always excellent — it’s our go-to for Mexican and I always over indulge. Love their patio! We live inner city but are not snobs– Jalapemo’s is the best regardless of their zip code.

Loved Jalapeños. We were there on a busy Friday night and it was packed. But we were seated immediately and served a margarita. So I’ll stop there and say that the margarita was oh so tasty, and probably the strongest I’ve had in years at a restaurant(so of course, we ordered another!). Food arrived quickly and was delicious. I had chicken fajitas and my friend had burritos — both very tasty. Also yummy chips and salsa. I will definitely be back to Jalapeños when I am back in Lexington. Loved the environment/space — fun, but low key. Nice experience!

We have been loyal jalapeños fans for years. But the last few times it has been underwhelming to say the least. The icing on the cake came a few days ago when we took some friends there and my first chip in the salsa brought up an old broken chip. It seems as they had recycled the salsa, and that’s gross. The food was mediocre as with the last few visits. Hopefully they get back on their game. The jalapeños margarita was good as usual.

Absolute best Mexican in Lexington! We eat here close to once a week and have nothing but good things to say. Food is phenomenal, staff super friendly. And! Very fast service; sometimes it’s literally 5 minutes after we sit down that we get our entrees. Highly, highly recommend!

Great Tex Mex food for sure. This place always has fast and friendly service. Their pork asado is quite taste. I haven’t ever received bad service or bad food here. They have a fully stocked bar and aren’t afraid to use it. There are 2 Jalapenos in town, but I prefer this one.
