1 Hour to Escape

Loved this adventure. We will return for a different room, maybe even a corporate team building.
The brothers mentioned here were great! The set up was great. I look forward to what else they have planned.

I wasn’t impressed. The puzzles consisted of pad locks. To open them you look at posters. We booked the fall out shelter. It was in a office room with a few posters on the wall and a few boxes to with padlocks. I would think if it’s a fall out shelter put forth the effect to make it, appear so instead of the feeling off being locked in an office with strangers.
Will I go to another Escape? Maybe with another company.
Would I recommend this? Not in a million years.

I booked this as a birthday outing for me and the teenagers in my family (13 – 21). Seven people total. First let me say that when I called the woman I spoke to was very kind and warm. Excellent customer service.
An experience like this is ENTIRELY dependent on how clever and sophisticated the puzzles are. We did the redesigned study and it was crazy challenging and fun. Our group was especially smart and we were challenged the whole time but not beyond frustration. We ALMOST solved the room. SO close! There were enough simultaneous puzzles that everyone was engaged and challenged at all times. I cannot imagine the time it takes to design such entertaining and intricate puzzles, but it is well worth it. There may be franchises with slicker designs out there or businesses with more kitsch but the puzzles are the most important element and this place is the best. My only advice would be to try to book a group large enough to have the room to yourself. I think it would’ve been harder working with strangers. We will absolutely be coming back!

Great experience, very well run! A small hiccup was quickly corrected by our guide. We did the corporate espionage challenge, can’t wait to try another!

A great experience. Didn’t know what exactly to expect but when we met the young men — the founders we were very impressed and excited to begin. Our 4 joined 4 others in the corporate espionage session. Everyone provided valuable insight and production. Key is to keep progressing and just moving along. We solved it with 7 minutes to go! We’ll be back to try the other rooms! Great time for all! Do it!

This was my first time participating in anything like this. Needless to say it was challenging, but fun. It allowed everyone in my group (who were all complete strangers) to work together as one. The war room was fun, and we barely escaped with less than 4 minutes away. My only draw back is that the location should be in a shopping center outlet, it would draw more ppl in. Keep up the great work 1 hour to escape! !

My family and I did this twice this weekend. One time for each of our twin’s birthday parties. It was an exciting and wonderful experience. From the beginning, the staff was helpful, courteous, and went above and beyond to accommodate us. The experience itself was thrilling and we truly enjoyed each puzzle. It’s perfect for many ages. Can’t wait to try it again!

Great time and a nice challenge! We had a group of 8 and we did use 2 of our 3 allowed hints. We finished the room with just over 6 minutes to spare! We felt like the room was a good challenge for the different levels of ability in our group. We will be back! Thanks 1 Hour to Escape!

My family and I did this today and LOVED it! First of all– I honestly cannot say enough good things about the owners of this business. I tried to book our event earlier in the week, and the room we wanted was booked. Charlotte was so incredibly kind though, and went the extra mile to get creative and work around our family. So before we even came… I was already feeling great about what was yet to come. Just to give you an idea about our family though– we are EXTREMELY competitive and tend to like a good challenge :) We booked the room so there were no strangers– and our ages ranged from 16 to 56. This was honestly a blast for us, because it was by NO means too easy and by NO means impossible at the same time. We succeeded but with only 4:19 left on the clock so we JUST barely made it. My brothers 16 & 25 in age, are VERY intelligent and being that the eldest is in the Army, the ‘Fallout Shelter’ escape room was pretty perfect. If you are looking for something super easy and for a good laugh– I dont know that this is for you. If you are looking for some serious team thinking though (and laughs still) and some competitive fun… then look no further. I would absolutely go back and fully intend on doing this sooner than later. I do think that as a business, they will raise their own bar in décor and the ‘feel’ of the shelter, but they’ve done a really great job with setting this up. There were at least 5 times we thought they screwed something up because we couldn’t figure something out, and every time we were wrong lol! We just needed to strategize and figure this out together. Great fun, great owners, and can not wait to come back!!!

I took my young republicans group here and we had a blast and can’t wait to try a different room. We failed but everyone loved it.

We bought a Groupon for our experience and we weren’t sure what to expect as a group of math teachers and teens. We had an awesome time!!! We were challenged the entire time and felt very much that we got our money’s worth! It wasn’t too short or too long. And it wasn’t too easy or too hard.
Wanted to add, we had a group of 5 joined with 2 strangers, and it totally worked out great. All of us single ladies decided that this would be the perfect 3^rd or 4^th date with a guy to learn a lot about his problem solving strategies and stress management.

First off, this review will be spoiler free, as all reviews of an establishment like this should be.
A couple of brothers run this place. They’re likely the ones that will talk to you in your orientation session, as well as the ones that have designed the puzzles. For a small, family owned, non-​franchised business, these puzzles are QUITE well designed. And let’s not gloss over that fact – the quality of puzzle design in these establishments make or break them. The passion that the brothers have for puzzle design and where they get their inspiration shine through in these puzzles.
In particular, we did the «Fallout Shelter» room. The puzzles in the Fallout Shelter room were fairly non-​linear (exploring the room revealed puzzles that could be solved individually and concurrently, in parallel. For those that haven’t done one of these before, this can present an additional challenge because you can’t be certain if two puzzles are related or not. Or, you may not be sure if a clue or item goes with one puzzle or another. This may be frustrating for some, but serves as an additional challenge for some of us others.
We finished the room that we did (fallout shelter) with over 20 minutes to spare. Our group did quite a good job – some of us had some experience with escape rooms before, which probably gave us an advantage.
Since we had some time left over, the brothers shared some of their future ideas for escape rooms with us, due to the fact that our group beat the room we were in with over 20 minutes to spare. I won’t spoil them here, but they shared some pretty awesome sounding themes to their new rooms, as well as an idea or two that would really change the aspect of an escape room. (When they implement them, I hope they work! One idea they shared gives the escape room some re-​play value, which is the unfortunate limitation that I’ve seen in every escape room I’ve been in!)
I give the room 4 out of 5 stars because there’s a few aspects that could be improved upon. For example, my wife managed to be clever enough to get us around one particular puzzle in this room, which got us finished with more time. However, it would have been fun to solve the puzzle we skipped, though…
Also, the puzzle room that we were in had a few things that could be improved slightly (the «story» was good, but I think could have been a bit better. Also, I managed somehow to get a splinter in the room.) But these things are minor. Also note that because of some stupid laws in Texas (we do have a few), there are some limitations on escape rooms that don’t let them «go all out» (Example: the door can’t actually lock, because of fire code. Another Example: Some of the effects that would be cool to try may be illegal.)
Finally, unless you book the entire room (up to 8 people), you may be put with folks you don’t know. I’ve never done a room with strangers before, but I figure this would be a decided disadvantage. Booking the entire room would be very expensive for all 8. (I believe a pair of people is $ 54, but you may be able to find a groupon or similar to help bring the cost down.) If you’re paying full rate, it’s more expensive than most, but if you’re using a groupon or promotion code, I think their price is less expensive than most.
Overall, though, «1 Hour to Escape» provided an excellent experience for our group. I’ll be trying to get another group together soon to go hit some more of their rooms. They’re definitely worth a try.

Awesome! It took all of us working together to solve the puzzles and beat the clock… looking forward to their new rooms coming soon! The staff is great and will definitely be recommending this experience with this company to all of my friends!

MONEY WASTER …
I came to this this event with friends expecting something amazing and fun, however it wasnt. When you show up its in an office building, very weird. The «fallout shelter» is absolutely stupid. You are in an 8×10 room that is extremely cheap looking. I could have made this at home. This must have cost them at tops $ 50.00 to put the whole thing together. The whole time all you do is open padlocks. like bike locks. THATS IT! nothing more. How fun is that? Ridiculously expensive waste of time. Their friends must have wrote the other reviews. I am EXTREMLY DISSAPOINTED… dont waste your money!!!

The customer service was awesome. I was so impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the enthusiasm for their work! We had so much fun solving our room. We played guys vs girls and us girls won! It was so fun!

This was a blast! Great for the whole family or date night. The staff was wonderful and the room was challenging but not so much that is was frustrating. I’d do it again for sure.

This place is so fun. The puzzles were really good… Challenging, for sure. The last Escape Room that I went to had a much better «set». The realism adds to the experience. But our game master told us they are building new rooms that are professionally designed. We will definitely be back!

We beat Cabin fever with 15 minutes left. The clues were fun and kept us guessing. We went with family and met 2 others there. We enjoyed our newest teammates as well. I assume most people who sign up would be fun!

We did their Fallout Shelter room and had a blast! Quite a well designed room where everyone in our group of 8 felt we contributed to the successful solution. We definitely plan to return to do the Cabin escape as well as any new rooms they come up with.

We LOVED this Escape. We experienced Cabin in the woods. The puzzles were well planned, hard but not impossible. All 8 people contributed and helped solve the puzzles, even the 7-​year-​old. Our host was funny and really helped set the mood and the expectation for our experience. The décor of the room was very well done. Loved that it was not a bunch of trivia, but actual puzzles that just required good old fashioned brain power. We hope to come back and do future rooms. It was a REALLY FUN day!

We «escaped» the cabin fever room. We had a great time! The puzzles were challenging enough, but not too difficult. We would definitely recommend. It would be great for date night or team building.

Such a fantastic way to spend some time to get to know strangers and work better with loved ones! Definitely would do this aagin, but it has to be another room. So far they have two themes, so that means I will sadly only be going twice until the others are made.
Young nice guy went through things in detail to make sure we understood it all.
Only thing is, room seems a little small for 8 people, everyone was crowded around the clues and I believe one person felt left out of the crowd. Maybe 6 would be more appropriate.

Having met one of the family members running this business (shoutout to Jonathan!) I am confident that it will succeed. Taking part in this challenge marked the first time since my sons birth that my wife and I were able to have a night out on our own. I’m glad that we discovered this venue and we are already planning on returning :)
BTW– our group broke the record for fastest time on fallout shelter. Sooooo you’ve officially been challenged! *drops the keyboard and walks away

It was pretty cool. You get «locked» in a room and figure out puzzles using clues to «escape. We did the 1950s WWII fallout shelter. We did not escape in time but they let us stay longer to figure it out because no group was after us. I would def do it again. You do not need any prior knowledge of the war or anything. It was def something different .fun .entertaining and great for team building. I gave it 4 stars because i feel that it is a little pricey if you plan on paying for everyone in your group for just 45 mins but not bad if people pay themselves

My husband and I had a blast doing this for date night and will definitely plan to book another one for the whole family. We were paired with 6 others, all of us being novices. We successfully made it out with 12 min left. The puzzles were challenging, but not impossible, so it was enjoyable.
Can’t wait to try the other room!

Good time for a date night. My fiancé and I went, and were grouped up in a room with another couple. None of us had ever done this type of thing before. We finished the room with 5 min left after a few hints were given. 4 stars instead of 5 because it’s difficult to find the location with no signage outside and also I would have liked to have seen a little more «hoopla» once completing the room successfully. Kind of anti-​climatic. But overall we had fun and would do again!

Would definitely go back. It was a great experience from booking the time with Charlotte to finding the clues to beat the room. We were running late they called us to make sure we were still coming. There was a group of 6 of us and everyone had a great time.
