Ard’s Farm

We have eaten at this lovely farm market diner several times and this place is a gem. They have great home style food with a BBQ pit. The highlight for me is their tiny salad bar which has the freshest ingredients and three hinds of meat, homemade coleslaw, potato salad, and pickled beets. It comes free with all entrees. Most entrée at lunch are between $ 10 – 14. They have a corn maze in the fall and other activities throughout the year.

Really good BBQ, especially given the dearth of other good dining options in the area. Delicious brisket, ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, cornbread and baked beans. Brisket was thinly sliced and had a nice smoky flavor. The ribs were tasty but a bit dry. Service was friendly and we will happily return.
As an aside, Ard’s is actually three places in one. There is an outside BBQ area (where we visited), an inside restaurant serving the BBQ and other things like burgers, and a store inside with produce, chocolates, potato chips, baked goods, and other treats to take home.

Had a great lunch of BBQ, grilled chicken with hand cut potato chips and a turkey panini on rosemary bread. Didn’t hurt that we already hit the farmer’s market onsite to bring home a dense blueberry pie! Super good food that you wouldn’t expect from a working farm.

Great place to eat off the beaten path. Came here for lunch with family. This was one of the few non-​franchise places that had a kids menu. We ordered an octo-​dog which is an adorable hot dog cut into the shape of an octopus with a little bit of mustard to make a happy face. Also got a fresh fruit cup made with fresh cantaloupe, honeydew melon and oranges not the kind of fruit that is found inside of a can. Husband ordered the pulled pork and cornbread combo which came generously portioned with a side of fries. I had the yummy Cuban with pulled pork which Panera Bread no longer had. I have not had a Cuban panini sandwich in 2 years. This one was well worth the wait. The service was excellent. I did not catch the name of our helpful server but she was lovely and did not roll her eyes when I informed her that my toddler had thrown some of the delicious fruit underneath the table. The restrooms are clean and has a changing table. The attached store has some great offerings for chocolate lovers and health freaks alike — farmers market fruits and veggies at reasonable prices. Also the wifi works great.

Took my in-​laws here to celebrate their anniversary. The service was friendly and efficient. The homemade potato chips were delicious. The bbq was quite good. Their brisket was unlike anything I have had before. It was different than traditional Texas bbq. Almost reminded me of pork belly. Great smoky taste. The manager came out to chat which was a nice touch. Finally there is this interesting goat contraption out back that had the kids (and me) mesmerized. Great evening. Great country dining.

I only had the salad bar. My wife ate from the hot buffet. Both were good (and the price was great). I saw a few menu items that looked delicious. I’d try it again, yet would order from the menu this time… But I was well pleased over all. I was expecting Ard’s up be Amish owned and operated. It may be Amish owned, unknown, but it’s «English» operated.

Ards has good home cooked food. Overall, the food is very good. The ice tea is really good. It has a hint of mint to it. There is not a lot of seating inside but there are a lot of seats outside. The cornbread is definitely worth it. The market has good quality fruit and vegetables. The spiced peaches are very good.
In the fall there are lots of fun activities for kids. The corn maze is very fun. We go every year and always have a really good time.

Went for dinner here with friends. Decent food and when you leave they have a nice farm market. All of our food was pretty good. They actually have a cheesesteak on the menu called the heart attack, once you look past the fact it is really unhealthy it is a really good sand which. None of us had any of the burgers but they looked pretty good.

Ard’s is a great place for family fun when they have events like the corm maze and different events throughout the year.
Also, a good place to buy fresh local produce as well as Ard’s own cheeses and other products made locally, i. e, candies, pickles, and other canned PA dutch type products. Prices are comparable to any place else and the staff is very friendly.

Their restaurant, on the other hand, is a hit or miss venture. I had a vegetable omelet today with home-​fries, because the last time I had a breakfast here, I got the same thing and it was good. The veggies in the omelet were grilled, as were the home-​fries and were coated with oil, making the omelet only barley passable to eat. I removed most of the veggies because of the oil. I did tell the waitress and she apologized and offered me a fruit cup in place of the home-​fries. «No thanks», I said, but she did reduce the bill by 20%.
My wife had the breakfast buffet, which she thought was very good. She did not eat any home-​fries, but got me a taste from the bar, which were just as oil soaked as mine from the kitchen.
I had their barbecued chicken one time. It was the last available order and it was very dry. Perhaps that was because it was the last order, but it should have never seen a plate.
I have eaten here three or four times before and have come to the conclusion that it is just hit or miss. I have not had a bad sandwich or salad. Also be sure to check out the salad bar before you order it, it sometimes just does not look as fresh as it should be.

After going to lunch at Ard’s Kitchen. I couldn’t stop thinking about what a fun place to spend an afternoon it was. The atmosphere is spectacular, the food/​BBQ is great and the people are always friendly. One high point of my visit was the amazing corn bread that was served when I sat at my table. The corn bread alone is worth the trip, but Ard’s has so much more to offer. Definitely make the trip there on the weekend, because the pulled pork is also some of the most tender and flavorful I’ve had in a while.

We attended their corn maze, which is amazing. After the maze, we ate dinner in their restaurant (We had hoagies, which were very good) and browsed their gift shop. We had fun picking out pumpkins for jackolanterns and looking at the great food for sale in their gift shops. The only thing I wish was different was that some of their gift shop prices are a little high.
