Lazy L At Willow Creek Bed & Breakfast

What a fantastic place to stay with your dogs! The staff are amazingly friendly, and the food was great. The Lazy L goes out of its way to be dog friendly. The fenced in off leash dog run is large and perfect for giving your dogs a chance to stretch their legs. You can even bring your dogs up for breakfast. If you travel with your dogs, then the Lazy L should be on your list of places to visit.

Getting away this year has been a challenge, so we were excited to hear about a place in short-​ish driving distance from Northern VA that welcomes guests with their canine companions. Perfect for a weekend for us and our dog, Buffy. Debbie and her staff at The Lazy L are relaxed and yet attentive to details that make guests feel special. Buffy was welcome at breakfast, beside us at the charming and cozy heated pool (we visited in late September), and anywhere at the resort where we were. The landscaping at The Lazy L is gorgeous, accentuating the natural wetlands backdrop. Even the spacious fenced-​in dog run has beautiful flowers and shrubs along its borders. Guests include folks with and without dogs, and some stay for weeks at a time to really unwind. While we have stayed at a couple of other places in the past with Buffy, most require exorbitant extra fees and have restrictions on where you can roam with doggie. The Lazy L, a refreshing change, actually LIKES your dog! Big difference.
A short drive away is Broadkill beach (head north on Rte 1), where doggies abound. Buffy, we discovered, isn’t much for encroaching waves, but she loved sniffing the many horseshoe crab carcasses along the beach while we played paddle ball, and she made a few buddies among other beach bumming pooches. The Lazy L gives many suggestions for dog friendly restaurants and attractions in the nearby historic town of Lewes and beyond.
We wish we could’ve stayed longer, and look forward to our next visit!

My husband and I were married at Lazy L. They were so amazing and performed a great ceremony. We didn’t stay overnight, just had our ceremony on the edge of the water. I would highly recommend the serices for a marriage ceremony.

Did not stay here but wanted to send a message to all celiac/​gluten free sufferers out there. Not sure if the chef/​reservation person was having a bad day to day when I called, but she was having a lot of issues with detail — my name, what a food allergy was, etc. I cancelled my reservation as a result. Thanks.

We really enjoyed our winter stay here. The owners were extremely accommodating, the rooms were spacious, well decorated, and clean, and the breakfasts were fabulous. The view of the Willow Creek is beautiful — it is a very peaceful setting. Since we were there is January, we especially enjoyed the hot tub that overlooked the creek. About 8 miles from the beach and Cape Henlopen, 5 miles from Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge, and also about 8 miles from the Dogfishead brewery (make a tour reservation well in advance — its free and awesome!) We stayed here with our dog — and it is seriously THE best place to stay with a pet. The owners go out of their way to make sure people without dogs aren’t inconvenienced though — no signs of pets in the rooms or on the grounds. Definitely our new favorite place to stay in Lewes!

Quiet, secluded, dog friendly (people friendly too). Refreshing swimming pool (not many places at the beach have pools) with an incredible view of creek and marshes. Nice sized rooms, some with excellent views of nature — we watched from our bedroom window as river otters swam up the creek. Hot tub location is perfect as well. Added bonus is the large fenced in dog run.
