Shamrock Movers of Boston

Same as everyone else, NO SHOW on the worst day of the year August 31^st! I spoke to Jack a few months prior and everything sounded fine. Then I spoke to him again about 3 weeks before the move to change the schedule (I was able to move into my new apt a day early) and he said that was not a problem. Then on the 29^th and 30^th I tried confirming via call, email, and text with no response. And no call, no show on the 31^st.
Thank goodness for Superior Boston Moving — I called them that afternoon and they were able to fit me in and did an amazing job!

I had the same problem as everyone else, NO SHOW. We arranged for them to help us through U-​Haul. The day before, my mom confirmed with Jack and asked to move up the time. He said it was fine and asked us to use cash instead. She said that she had already paid via
and he agreed to take the voucher. We showed up the next day with our u-​haul and he never showed. His phone was «off» and never responded to any of our texts/​calls/​emails. Finally, we gave up and decided to do it ourselves. Luckily, my parents and my 90 pound roommate are far more reliable than Shamrock Movers!
**We just found out that U-​Haul/​mymovinghelp has severed their relationship with Shamrock Movers. Hopefully this will NOT happen to anyone else. This is not how you run a business, especially one that is dependent on the ability to do heavy lifting!

I had the same experience as everyone else who has written a review here. I scheduled my move with Jack one month prior to the move. I sent him several emails confirming the move for 8÷3÷2013 at 9AM and he even called me at 5PM on 8÷2÷2013 to confirm that he would be there at 9AM the next morning. On the day of the move I picked up the moving truck from Uhaul and was waiting at my apartment at 8:30AM for Jack to arrive. By 9:30 AM no one had showed up or called, so I tried calling Jack and got his voicemail which was full (I assume others were probably also calling and leaving nasty messages). Since I could not reach him by phone, I proceeded to send several text messages and emails all of which still remain unanswered 3 weeks later. I even sent him an email asking if he could at least have the decency to let me know if he was going to show up or not so that i could make other arrangements. No response. In a frenzy I proceeded to call every other moving company in Boston only to find out that no one was available to help with the move that day. Luckily I was able to find 2 guys on craigslist to help, but they certainly were not professionals and I ended up doing the majority of the heavy lifting on my own. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I would recommend that anyone else who has had a similar experience with Shamrock Movers to do the same. These guys are extremely unprofessional and should be put out of business.

Oops. Should have read the reviews. They were initially responsive then in the morning they asked me to cancel from moving
and just pay them cash. They said that they were having a disagreement w moving help. This seemed sketchy but I looked into it and it would take moving help 5 – 7 business days to refund my money and I didn’t feel comfortable double-​paying. What if they didn’t refund the money? I told jack I wasn’t comfortable w that and he said he would call me back.
Hours later I hadn’t heard from him. He has originally said he would be early for my move. An hour after move time, moving help called him, wrote him an urgent email, and I, of course, called multiple times. To no avail. Moving help said they had had some payment issues over the weekend that has since been resolved. They did cancel and I’m just exhausted and done.

NO SHOW NO CALL. Do not use Shamrock Movers of Boston. I had used them before with no issues, so I hired them again for my most recent move. I had confirmed via phone and email, and even have record in email of a date change. The day before my move I tried calling to confirm; no answer, voice mail box was full. I texted and emailed as well. On the morning of my move I called again, nothing. I eventually had to get a new company last minute, which had their own truck (I had rented a Uhaul). I had to return my UHaul unused and go with the other company which thankfully was able to fit us in (Nicks Moving Company; use them instead!).
I find it amazing that a company can continue to operate when they completely do not show up for scheduled jobs. Please do not use this company!

I would give 0 stars if I could. Long story short, I hired this company through the Uhaul moving help service, and, at first, all seemed fine. Jack called me right away to set up a time and get the address. I even changed the time a couple days later and he cheerfully accommodated that. Then the morning before the move, I called and emailed to confirm (and I have an email confirmation for the day I was moving, so I know there was no mistake in the date scheduled) and got no response. The morning of the move, I kept expecting a call to let me know they were coming, but low and behold, he never showed or called. I was left scrambling for movers at the last minute. Thank God for Shamrock Movers located in Somerville who totally bailed me out after Jack left me high and dry at the last minute. Do yourself a favor and hire them instead.

No show, no call after move was confirmed night before. No answer to several calls after no show. Un-​professional. Beware of being left hanging. Reliable movers came on short notice, a pleasure to deal with. As long as their day was filled no interest in customers with confirmed appointment. total Lack of consideration as never even called to say they weren’t coming. A disaster to deal with.

Dear Jack,
I am amazed that after everything your company put me through, you wrote me a response that insinuates that this debacle was somehow partially my fault — but let me address your points. Before I start though, let me congratulate you on all the five star reviews you started receiving on the day you responded back to my post. Statistically speaking, the fact that you received two — five star reviews on the very day that you responded back to my post (in the filtered section) and more the following week or two — all from people who who have never posted on Unilocal before is actually quite a feat.
For you other Unilocalers out there, please read my first post to hear an abbreviated version of my horrific experience with this company. There was actually a few more disturbing elements to this story but I could not post them because of the character limitations on Unilocal.
First, I have saved all the emails we have written to each other regarding this issue and I never named any kind of monetary compensation let alone $ 2500. If you want, I am willing to send you a copy of all of our correspondences. The only thing I ever mentioned regarding compensation was to ask you what you thought was fair. I have no idea where you got this figure from.
Second, you may have subcontracted the job out to Anthony but I had a contract with you to move our things so ultimately, your company is responsible for the actions of the men you sent over. You even admitted to me in your email that Anthony messed up and hadn’t followed your company’s protocol and even though Anthony made the mess it is ultimately your responsibility.
Third, I didn’t contact you right away because Anthony gave us the impression that he had contacted you regarding this mess. Anthony (who didn’t have a cell phone) borrowed my cell phone several times to make or receive phone calls and though we were well aware more than few of those calls were to/​from a female person we assumed was his girlfriend or wife, we also believed that he was using my phone to keep in contact with you. In fact, when I directly asked Anthony if he had talked to you I remember that he told me that «it was being taken care of.» Again, I trusted Anthony because you and he both told me that he was a senior member or «supervisor» with your company and so I initially trusted him because of that.
Fourth, to the best of our recollection, neither my husband or I recall you making an offer to come back and re-​pack our things or anything of that nature (and you never mention this offer in any of our emails); however, even if you did, my husband (as Anthony was well aware) was under a severe time crunch due to a last minute business obligation and we had to leave that day. Even if we didn’t, would you, if you were me, want to relive the worst day of your life?
I mean seriously let me recap. Shamrock Movers of Boston sent over a frail, diabetic 60-​something year old gentleman who the (ex?)-supervisor of your company kept screaming was a druggie AND who disappeared in the middle of the move. To be fair though, even while Tito was there my husband had to do half or more of the heavy lifting. The other man you sent was a fifty something year old who constantly borrowed my cell phone, took frequent breaks (starting at the first fifteen minutes of the move — I kid you not), constantly begged us to give him any of our belongings that caught his eye (disturbing much?), oh and who was so incompetent as a mover that almost everything we owned was damaged, and who did such a poor job in general packing our truck that our second movers did not believe us when we told them that they had been packed by a professional.
Fellow Unilocalers, I am so sorry to vent on here but it was a horrible experience and one I have to relive every time I see the ruined arm of our antique gentleman’s chair or the gouge across our coffee table. I understand that things sometimes go wrong; however, nobody should have to experience a move like we did.

There is another company on Unilocal,same name, out of Somerville though (I am re-​posting this review in the right place to warn everyone), but the guy I called even said ‘you get what you pay for’ to me when I talked to him WEEKS before the move, I’m a dummy to have used them.
I scheduled our move over a month in advance this summer via U-haul’s
partnership. They called a few days later to confirm my 11am move time, but said they couldn’t make it till noon. Ok, it was just about a 3 hour move anyways, I was fine with that.
The DAY BEFORE the move they called and said they couldnt make it until 2pm. I wasn’t happy, I’m now 3 hours behind the time I wanted to move, but at least they called ahead, I thought…
On the day of the move they called just before 2pm to say they’re on their way. Just after 2pm another guy called to say they were 40 minutes out of the area. This is when I flipped, my truck parking permit was about to expire at 4pm, I told them they needed to get there asap and that we might lose our right to park on the street and we’d been ready since BEFORE noon. It was ridiculous already!
Just before 3pm I called them to find out where they were. I got voicemail. I called again just before 4pm. Left a voicemail again. I called both numbers I had maybe 4 — 5 times. By 5pm I feared the worst and called
to find someone else (movinghelp had excellent customer service by the way, refunded me immediately, and found us last minute movers). No one from Shamrock Movers ever called me back, not even the next day. Our last minute movers couldnt come until after 7pm, but they got us moved that night since everything was already packed and the furniture was disassembled.
The whole day ruined, we moved in our new neighborhood afterdark and mosquito bitten, and were too exhausted the next day to enjoy our wedding anniversary.
Do not use these guys! No good company doesn’t even show or call later to explain!
