Hookah Cafe

You can smoke the good stuff here. I still get good vibes from the waitstaff every time I come here to smoke my troubles away. But what do I know! You can’t trust me, I’m always getting into sticky situations. For instance, Last time I was here (keep in mind this was about 3 months ago) I was sitting across a suspicious gang. This guys looked the part. We’re talking dreadlocks, big shoes, big earhole circular earrings that put the big holes in your earlobes, the whole kitten kaboodle. Now I was watching these guys for a good hour (because I was spaced from those hooka drugs, I couldn’t drive home for a while) before I realized what they were trying to do. You wouldn’t believe it. They were building up all their smoke to smoke out the restaurant so they could rob the place. After a while, they made their move. They had extra guys waiting outside who came charging in upon the signal. As you might expect, the chargers were tackled, but this distracted security long enough for the other guys to sneak behind the counter unnoticed. And that is all I remember, I blacked out from too much hooka at that point, can’t recal anything else that happened that night… Also ask for a novelty hooka cigar. Smoke your hokka on the go for only $ 20.

After researching several area Hookah Café/​Lounges, this is the 2^nd I’ve visited in about a month or so. I enjoyed the experience here — so much so that I returned for a 2^nd visit within a week. ;) Here’s what you can look forward to and why I enjoyed my experience so much (not in any particular order):
1) Clean w/​modern décor;
2) Menu is bought to you at your table for ordering;
3) Lighting level provides a relaxing atmosphere;
4) GREAT coal service;
5) Owner is personable & friendly;
6) Plenty of shisha options;
7) Adequate, off-​street parking;
8) Punch card for a free hookah after 6 visits;
9) Hot tea service on silver platter w/​kettle, cup, sugar, spoon & napkin — LOVE!;
10) Conveniently located close to my home; and
11) Specials during major sporting events
On the early evening I visited, I arrived around 5:30ish and there were only 2 – 3 other people there, however, the crowd steadily increased. It was almost a full house when I left at around 8:30ish. There was a mix of young and «seasoned,» there was a staff of 2 (1 of which was the owner), who periodically circled the room at about 10 – 15 min. intervals to check coals and bowls. On this visit, I had a hot, chai tea which was o.k. — I’ve had better, but I’m not really there for the drinks, I’m there for the hookah!
Hookah Café is going to make it hard for me to experience other places — especially since it’s so close to home. There are several in midtown/​Westport that I’ll eventually get to, but if you’re in the Overland Park/​Leawood/​Olathe area, give this place a try. You’ll enjoy it!

I went here with a friend who is a hookah fan. I’m not a hookah person myself, but I enjoyed the coffee and the ambiance was interesting and fun for something different.

Not impressed sorry. A few of my friends who live out in this area wanted to meet for hookah, instead of meeting at a bar and drinking. I am somewhat interested in hookah, but by no means an expert, but I’ve had hookah before. I liked the ambiance of the place it was pretty cool looking. From there pretty downhill our waiter was a little odd, but friendly, being a large group we ordered a few hookahs. The coals were weak from the start and rarely replaced. Our smoke was sad looking, it was almost a light vapor mist. One of our hookahs became unsmokable, we told the guy and he tried it and couldn’t smoke it, he tried to fix it but it did nothing, we were still charged for this. Also one thing I found odd is there is no mouth piece you all smoke out of the same plastic pipe end, kinda gross hope they wash it. Overall I don’t think I’ll be back sorry for the owners who genuinely seemed nice.

This place is awesome! Good coal service. Nice Turkish coffee. Good hookahs seating is adequate. Theres only 1 other hookah place nearby and its closer to my house than Hookah Café. I still prefer this place. Always have the game on the big proj. screen and good Arab music.

If you like hookah and middle eastern tea and you’re in KC area, you’ll like it here. The best thing about this place is the outside seats/​patio which is really great. I don’t smoke hookah, but from my expert friends, the hookah here is good.

The best hookah I’ve had in Kansas City. The atmosphere was great. The staff was fun and helpful. The patio was outstanding.
