Sorry Van but you have really changed since you opened! You rush my nails to get the money. Uneven nails — crapy job. You use to do great nails now it’s all profit. !! Your not keeping your customers satisfied. Not good

this place is the scum of the earth they gave me and my sister fungus and we couldnt get our nails done in time for our vactions, thanks to this unsanitary «nail salon»

HORRIBLE! As soon as we walked in they started to talk about the person I was with. The guy (scrawny kid with glasses and rose tattoo on neck) that did my nails was totally rude seemed he didn’t want to do my toes had this horrible attitude. Gtfo. Never going back. Thanks to that prick

First this place is unsanitary and with the type of clientele they are catering too you wouldn’t want any type of cross contamination. The staff here seem disconnected and in a hurry. I have been getting my nails done for 21 years so I pretty much know all the steps to acrylic nail preparation. The lady who did my nails only buffed my nails for a little bit not removing the parts that were lifting a bit and then she went straight to adding the acrylic. It was a half ass job and she finished my nails in about 18mins when acrylics generally take 30min. My nails looked terrible and she didn’t care. I will never ever go to this establishment again!

Horrible!!! I’ve gone here a few times and now I am never going back. Today I just wanted a simple pedicure but what I got was uneven nails and the person made me bleed as she was cutting my cuticles! This is the second time someone at the salon has made me bleed while doing my nails. They need to pay more attention. Please save your money and go somewhere else.

i’m a little confused as to why people come here. here are my qualms:
1. The place is really dirty; floors are in desperate need of shampoo/​vacuuming
2. This relates to number one but sanitary measures are crazy low. The towel i put my hands on for my manicure was super stained and looked like it hadn’t been changed in a while which was concerning to say the least considering i bled on it and the place was busy
3. The staff is not properly trained. Their costs are in the same range as any other places but they don’t offer the same services. My friend had had her toes done and had the same problem as me. They don’t massage your hands/​feet and no oils are used. The only thing that you can expect with a basic gel manicure/​pedicure is a cuticle trim and paint – it’s very fast. The woman doing my nails went absolutely HAM with her giant scary cuticle trimmer. She went too deep clipping the skin around my fingers to the point where she cut me bad on my ring finger. I wouldn’t stop bleeding. I almost didn’t want my nails done anymore. guys, it hurt! Then this woman whipped out her trusty super glue to stop my finger hemorrhage. I understand that this is an actual method of stopping bleeding because the superglue acts as a liquid bandage but this woman was no doctor and she didn’t bother sanitizing the tip of the superglue so i stopped her before she glued my wound without asking me first. I was officially freaked but the damage was done and i wanted my fingers painted. It was only $ 20 for the gel mani but my mental scar is priceless (im terrified of blood) Ladies. i implore you, spend an extra $ 5 and get a nice mani

I gotta say I’m pretty disappointed by this place. Tried Van’s Nails out for the first time because my friend and I were supposed to go somewhere else but their wait list was too long. When I asked her where else we could go she suggested this salon but didn’t sound too happy about it. She said she only goes there if she absolutely has to. I thought «why not?» and we set an appointment for 1:00p. My friend got there first and was told to take a seat at one of the stations in the back. I showed up and she went outside to meet me and when we came back in two girls walked in behind us. The lady in the front pointed in our direction and said to sit at one of the stations in the back. We started walking over and she said «No not you. Them. Sorry.» We ended up having to sit and wait for 20 minutes even though we made the appointment two hours in advance and my friend had already been seated. When I was finally seated the lady said «what color do you want?» I walked in with pink and whites so I just said I want a fill exactly how they are now. She then asked me multiple times if I really wanted pink and whites or if I wanted color. When I confirmed for the third time that I wanted white tips she called another nail technician over and started to ask her what to do. Kept holding up my nails and showing them to her, pointing to various bottles and asking if that’s the right one, which immediately made me nervous. My nails were lifting so she asked me if I wanted to take them off and start over. I told her that I had just gotten them completely redone and didn’t want to pay extra or wait longer to do it all over again, and if she could just do her best to make them look nice. She asked me over and over again if I wanted her to take them off. The entire time she was filing off the previous gel coat she was huffing and puffing and muttering to herself, and handled my hands really roughly. She filed them VERY unevenly, clipped off the lifted edges and immediately started applying the acrylic without smoothing the edges at all. I kept asking if she would file the edges down more so that they blended in better but every time she responded «I told you they would look better if I took them off but you didn’t want me to». My nails were rough around the edges, some were wide and some were thin, and none of them were the same length. When my friend was done (an hour before me) she sat next to me at the station and asked me if I liked my nails, knowing that I didn’t. The woman then interrupted my response by saying again that she had told me to take them off or they wouldn’t look good. She made me pay halfway through the process even when I told her I’d rather wait until they’re done. By the time she was finished the glitter powder had gotten all over the nails, the chunky edges of my previous nails were bright white under the gel, and even the white acrylic was very rough and uneven and went straight across instead of in a moon shape.
2 hours later and the edges are already lifting, the gel is still soft and is coming off of the tips of my nail. I’ve been doing my nails the exact same way for three years and they’ve never looked this bad, regardless of whether we took the nails off and started over or not. Im attaching pictures of both hands for reference. I’m giving this place one star because of the price ($ 25) and that’s it.

This is my favorite nail salon if I know I’m going to be in the San Diego area I try to hold off and go there. Van is amazing I love the way she does Nails as well as she’s the only person that I allowed to touch my eyebrows. I suggest that you call and get an appointment because there’s usually a pretty long wait.

They are horrible never will i go. One they’re to pricey. My nail polish came off that week. When i went for a fill at another place they showed me how much vans messed up

Very affordable so if you’re on a budget but need to get your nails done go here. However don’t expect them to last too long and don’t expect an amazing job. Keep in mind you are getting what you are paying for.
The color selection isn’t too great either I sometimes take my own colors because I know I won’t find anything there I haven’t already tried that I liked.
It isn’t the cleanest place either they should vacuum more often and wash their hands after the pedicure they don’t use gloves for.
The staff isn’t rude either, I’m sure they may be frustrated when you start complaining to much but if you ask them to fix something at least when I have they fix it.

Great price for a good mani-​pedi and acrylic nails. Me and my bf went to Valentines day 2016 and he got a mani-​pedi ($ 18) while i got a full set ($ 15) and a french pedicure ($ 18).
Couldn’t really understand the techs but none-​the-​less they got the job done

So I usually do not leave negative reviews anywhere, but this is my first one. I’ve been on the search for a new nail shop because all of my places have been inconsistent. This was my second time at this location. My first experience was okay, but I decided to give it another shot. I don’t know who did my nails, but she was the second person right in the front. She wasn’t very nice, was on her phone the whole time basically and did not do a great job on my nails. After I paid her she simply walked away and looked at how much I gave her as her tip (which I shouldn’t have given her at all). She didn’t say thank you, nothing. I get the prices are cheap, but I would have loved some great work. Guess you get what you pay for. I doubt I’ll ever come here again. Very disappointed.

This place has excellent customer service and good choices of nail polish, and waxing services. Only downside is the work they put into the nails is less than mediocre because I always happen to get an older man (i think he is the husband of the owner) and when he did my gel manicure he did not apply the necessary steps to doing it correctly. I am not a professional nail tech but from my many nail shop experiences, this is one ‘dive-​in’ nail shop that I would not recommend unless you REALLY have no choice to go any where else! As you can see from the picture I have provided the gel part lifted after a week and a half vs. other places I’ve gone to last me nearly 3 weeks! I do not understand how some girls’s gel polish in the other pics dont seem to be lifted but others do. He immediately applied the gel without any bond polish or anything, he forgot if he did the second coating, the last part of the clear gel was REALLY sticky, he only added the clear coat once, and finally it was done but when he wiped off the residue with alcohol, I had to kindly ask for a 2^nd wipe of alcohol; since I still had sticky nails. I am very disappointed in this matter. But like anything, it is definitely a hit or miss with these kind of nail shops. You are better off to take the time and maybe pay 3 – 5 $ more else where if you are serious about my nails like me (for a better result that will last you a while and WORTH your time and money)
–3 stars for the customer service; otherwise I would lave applied 1 – 2 stars. Sorry Van, please train those who are not serious about their positions and consider your customer’s needs. We all pay attention

Loved how she did my nails, was in a rush but she did her thang. I got a black gel acrylic full set on Friday, and it’s Tuesday not even a week later and my gel has lifted and chipped. Need to go back in asap.

Don’t bother wasting your time or money. The skinny tomboy clipped the sides of my toe naw like 3 times during my pedi. & the one that did my mani… she fucked up my nails twice… tried to tell me there was nothing wrong when one nail was clearly slanted &I the other didn’t have enough acrylic on it so the nail was actually bending. She had the nerve to cop an attitude & then didn’t finish.
Walk farther to Helens.

Customers beware! I been here once or twice but I’m sure this is the last time, is gotten worst, is so filthy just dirty and run down! This past Friday I got a spa pedicure, went home not thinking of anything besides what dirty place, I get home and I start feeling itchy on the back of my calves, today I have TWO huge rashes behind my calves! Very itchy !! I know is from the spa pedicure !! Just know that you may catch something ! I know I did !! Is a freaking sweat shop !! Stay away be aware !!

I don’t get my nails done often but when I do I’m sort of picky about where I go because I have had bad experiences with other places I have gone to (before I started using Unilocal). I was looking for a last minute place on a Sunday and this place was open til 8. I just got simple gel acrylics with one color. The person who did my nails was Kim. She was delicate and did them fast (got done in about 40 minutes). No pain or numb feeling during or after and she cleaned up nicely. I was looking at what color I wanted before starting the process and didnt get to decide until right before she was about to paint them. But while she was filing and stuff, I was trying to decide what color I want based on the acrylic wheel and I only was able to use one hand. She left the fan on and I guess while I was rambling through like 10 wheels it went through the fan and made a noise. Her reaction made her tone of voice seem like she was trying to say something about me because she ranted on for like 5 seconds and then her tone of voice changed back to normal. Of course it was in Vietnamese so I couldn’t understand what she said. She didn’t really try to have a conversation with me, she only spoke to her coworkers (everyone working there was only speaking to each other) and she didn’t really understand my questions when I did try to make a conversation. I am not sure how long the nails would last since I just got them done yesterday, but I will update this within a week or two.

The Shop is so Dirty and the equipment is, too. The people don’t chat with you and just want to do everything fast. Often the are working on two people on the same time with the same equipment. Pedicure was good but manicure was a total rush and not accurate. Price was good!

I come here faithfully and I’m always happy no matter who does my nails. They always do whatever i ask in a timely manner.

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place bc they are open really late! I called to see if they could take us without an appointment! He had an ingrown nail and the lady that was doing his nails couldn’t figure out how to pull it out! However van came over to help and did a great job! He felt relief immediately! We will be returning here!
Vans husband did my nails and he also took his time and did a great job! Next time we will set appointments to get out pedicures done by van and her husband!
Prices are very reasonable and I enjoyed out the time there! They were chatty keeping us entertained! :) thanks guys! Happy customers!
