History

Established in 1983.

Founded by Robert Platzer as «Platz’s» in 1983, P.J. Whelihan’s wouldn’t come to fruition until 10 years later when the Allentown location was opened introducing the name: P.J. Whelihan’s Pub & Restaurant for the first time. Named after his grandfather, Peter Joseph Whelihan, P.J. Whelihan’s Pub & Restaurant now have 13 locations as well as establishments in The Wells Fargo Center, The Liacouras Center and coming soon: Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. In addition to these 16 P.J.‘s locations, The PJW Restaurant Group also owns 3 The Pour Houses, The Chophouse, and Treno Pizza Bar. Throughout its 33-​year existence, PJW Restaurant Group has never closed a single location.
