With a nod to my last name, Carpenter, my personal philosophy is that everyone already has the tools that they need to build a successful marriage, family, career, life… Sometimes, due to circumstances, relationship issues, health, choices (ours and others), the economy, etc., we sometimes need another person to shine a flashlight on our possibilities.

Finding and going to a counselor may be a very daunting experience. Many would-​be clients find that there is no one to help them navigate the mental health field. Who do I call? Do I contact an agency, or do I go with someone in private practice? What do all of the initials behind this person’s name mean? What is this person’s experience, and does it match my need?
