Just good food. Service was good considering they were busy. My soup was really good. Good friendly people

So I stopped by there today and it apparently isn’t open right now. According to their Facebook post they were taken advantage of and is not up and running right now. I asked them to post this online so people don’t stop by but I’m disappointed that they haven’t posted it already somewhere so people don’t make this mistake. It’s also not posted on the actual restaurant building either. I hope they reopen(which according to their FB page they plan on it) because I’d really like to try it out as the food looks awesome and it’d be nice to support local restaurants. At that time I will update my review and hopefully it’ll be five stars like the others. In the mean time, my husband and I went to try Unk’s Burgers and it was delicious:)

I finally got to have the Reuben sandwich I’ve heard so much about. First of all, I’m super picky about something I’m as passionate about as food. Secondly, a Reuben is my favorite sandwich. So the steaks are already raised. She nailed it. Yep, nailed it! Tender corned beef sliced the appropriate thickness, good crusted/grilled bread, oh and yes, her homemade kraut. Yes, that is not an overdone typo — the girl makes her own kraut! Flavorful but not too strong in vinegar tastes. The balance was really just right. Not disappointed at all in the sandwich. I can’t wait to have the other half for lunch tomorrow!

My husband and I have eaten here a couple of times each, wanting to give this place a fighting chance because it’s exactly the kind of place I’d love to support in my town, but I have to admit I’ve been pretty disappointed so far. Nearly everything we’ve had has been wildly overcooked(potatoes that weren’t supposed to be mashed cooked to the point of mush, chicken slightly drier than the Sahara, etc.) and/or cooked with absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. I understand what they’re going for(small comfort-food based menu, quirky diner setting), but if’ you’re only going to offer 4 to 6 things on your menu those items need to be really, really good… and they’re just not. On the upside, they do a really nice hot tea service(the water needs to be quite a bit hotter for brewing hot tea, though) and the roasted tomato soup I had on my first visit was fantastic. We’ll probably wait another couple of weeks, then try one more time. If the food hasn’t vastly improved, my husband and I won’t be back.

This place is awesome; great home cooking and a great atmosphere; talked to the owner and it’s like going to a friends house for dinner, highly recommended.

When you want a place to call home, this is the place. The owner is a sweetheart and the food is to die for. Always something new and different.

After circling Uptown Eatery three times I finally decided to get past my Missouri native distrust of new restaurants and take a chance. I had only known the place as a bar(formerly Tavern On The Green) that never felt inviting. But things have changed with a new deck, cheerful Christmas decorations, neatly marked parking and an inviting feel. The moment I stepped in I was greeted by the owner named Tammy. I tend to get my first impression of a place within seconds of being there and it is usually my last impression. I felt immediately comfortable. We chatted about her new restaurant and I quickly took note that she had lived 14 years in New York City and had brought food ideas from there to Lee’s Summit. I took a warm and cozy corner seat and ordered the Pork Roast Dinner with green beans and mashed potatoes. Truly the best mashed potatoes I have ever eaten and the pork roast and green beans were equal to the best I have ever eaten. Dinner came with this amazing leaf lettuce salad that had fresh sliced pears, cut up apples, pecans and a honey vinaigrette dressing I could have swigged down. Even the croutons and dinner roll were fantastic — thank you for the little things like real butter. Everything homemade and much of it from local vendors. I’ve never been big on the whole organic, health-food, local vendor thing but for those who do care Tammy is very much into that. She even has the no gluten choices on the menu. I also ordered a cup of hot tea which was organic Jasmine and very good. It came with this little tea timer to get your tea just right. I’m 56 years old and that was a new one on me. As I left I ordered a piece of homemade lemon meringue pie(fantastic) and a nice slice of homemade quiche for my breakfast in the morning. The quiche(have yet to eat) is made with bacon, spinach, cheese and tomato. I will probably end up eating it around midnight tonight because it is calling me from the fridge. Now here’s the part that actually concerns me a bit. How does Tammy serve that dinner for $ 7.99 and get me out the door with all that food for $ 17.00? I just hope she does not put herself out of business with those low prices. For the quality of food she is serving she is about 30−40% off on those prices. This is clearly my new favorite restaurant in Lee’s Summit. Johnny Rays will never lose my dedication for their burgers and Torrero’s for their Mexican food, but as a Diner/Eatery this is my new #1 for sure. I look forward to taking guests there, but mainly I look forward to eating there again even if I am as usual alone.
